一、教学目标
知识目标
学生能够熟练掌握本单元关于社区场所(如 school、park、hospital 等)和方位介词(如 next to、in front of、behind 等)的词汇。

五、教学过程
(一)Warming-up(5 分钟)
Greetings
T: Hello, boys and girls! How are you today?
Ss: Fine, thank you. And you?
T: I'm great! Nice to see you all.
Sing a song
Play the song “My Neighborhood”(可根据所学内容自行创作或改编旋律简单的歌曲). Let the students sing along with the music and do some simple actions. After singing, ask students to share what they heard in the song about the neighborhood.
(二)Lead-in(3 分钟)
Review
Show some pictures of different places in the neighborhood on the PPT, such as a school, a park, a hospital. Ask students to quickly say out the English words for these places.
Then, show some sentences with blank spaces for the prepositions, for example, “The park is ____ the school.” (next to /behind/in front of 等) and ask students to fill in the blanks with the correct prepositions.
(三)Presentation(7 分钟)
Introduce Fun time activities
Open the textbook to the Fun time part. Show the students the pictures and activities in this part. Explain that they are going to have some fun and learn English at the same time.
Activity 1: “Map - making”
Divide the students into groups of four. Give each group a large piece of paper and some colored pens. Let them work together to draw a simple map of their ideal neighborhood. They need to include at least five different places and mark the names and the relative positions clearly using the prepositions they learned.
(四)Practice(10 分钟)
Activity 2: “Guessing game”
After the students finish drawing their maps, ask each group to show their map to the class. Then, start the guessing game. One student from a group describes the location of a place on their map without saying the name of the place, for example, “It's a place where you can see a lot of books. It's next to the park.” The other students from other groups guess what the place is. If they guess correctly, they can get a small sticker as a reward.
Activity 3: “Dice game”
Prepare some large dice. Write different places on each side of the dice, such as “school”, “cinema”, “library” etc. Also, write some prepositions on another dice, like “next to”, “behind”, “in front of”. Each group takes turns to roll the two dice. Then, they need to make a sentence according to the words on the two dice, for example, if they roll “school” and “next to”, they can say “The cinema is next to the school.” If the sentence is correct, they can move one step forward on a pre - drawn game board. The first group to reach the end of the game board wins.
(五)Production(10 分钟)
Role - play
Let the students create a short dialogue based on their neighborhood maps. One student acts as a visitor who is new to the neighborhood and asks for directions to a certain place. The other student acts as a local and gives directions.
Encourage the students to use as many sentences and words as they can, such as “Excuse me. Where is the...?” “Go straight. Turn left/right at the... corner. It's on your left/right.”
After a few minutes of preparation, ask some groups to come to the front of the class and perform their dialogues.
(六)Summary(3 分钟)
Summarize the key points of this class with the students, including the words, sentences and the fun activities they did.
T: Boys and girls, today we had a lot of fun in our English class. We drew neighborhood maps, played games and made dialogues. Can you tell me some of the words and sentences we used?
Encourage students to answer.
Praise the students' good performance in class and give some rewards to the students or groups who did well.
(七)Homework(2 分钟)
Ask students to write a short passage about their ideal neighborhood, including at least five sentences.
Let them share their passages with their parents or family members at home.
