I have loved my mother’s desk since I was just tall enough to see above the top of it when Mother sat doing letters. Standing by her chair, looking at the ink bottle, pens and white paper, I decided that the act of writing must be the most wonderful thing in the world.
Years later, during her final illness, Mother kept different things for my sister and brother, “But the desk,” she said again, “is for Elizabeth. ”
I never saw her anger, and never saw her cry. I knew she loved me; she showed it in action. But as a young girl I wanted heart-to-heart talks between mother and daughter.
They never happened and a gulf opened between us. I was “too emotional (易动感情的)”, but she lived “on the surface”.
As years passed I had my own family. I loved my mother and thanked her for our happy family. I wrote to her in careful words and asked her to let me know in any way she chose that she did forgive (原谅) me.
I posted the letter and waited for her answer. None came.
My hope turned to disappointment, then little interest and, finally, peace—it seemed that nothing happened. I couldn’t be sure that the letter had even got to Mother. I only knew that I had written it, and I could stop trying to make her into someone she was not.
Now the present of her desk told, as she’d never been able to, that she was pleased that writing was my chosen work. I cleaned the desk carefully and found some papers inside—a photo of my father and a one-page letter, folded (折叠) and refolded many times.
Give me an answer, my letter asks, in any way you choose. Mother, you always chose the act that speaks louder than words.
19.The passage shows that Mother ________.
A.was too serous about everything her daughter had done
B.was cold on the surface but kind in her heart to her daughter

A.deep understanding between the old and the young
B.part of the sea going far in land
C.free talks between mother and daughter
D.different ideas between mother and daughter
21.What did Mother do with her daughter’s letter asking for forgiveness?
A.She read the letter again and again till she died.
B.For years, she often talked about the letter.
C.She didn’t forgive her daughter at all in her life.
D.She had never received the letter.
22.What’s the best title of the passage?
A.My Letter to Mother B.Mother and Children
C.My Mother’s Desk D.Talks Between Mother and Me

Dunhuang, a city in Gansu Province, has a history of more than two thousand years. The city was once an important stop on the ancient Silk Road. Since the fourth century, Chinese people have carved (雕刻) caves along the mountain cliffs (悬崖). However, because of dry weather and the development of tourism, this world-famous treasure has been in danger. Luckily, one woman has taken the lead in protecting Dunhuang. Her name is Fan Jinshi. Her efforts have given her the name “Daughter of Dunhuang.”
Fan discovered her love for Dunhuang while studying at Peking University. After graduation, she was sent to work in Dunhuang. ▲ The tables, chairs and bed were made of mud (泥巴). The windows were made of paper. And there were mice everywhere. But the ancient remains in the Mogao Caves amazed Fan. She decided to get over the difficulties and protect them as well as she could.
Over the past 60 years, Fan has walked through Mogao Caves countless times. She has carefully studied every cave. To popularize Dunhuang culture, she has helped organize many successful exhibitions of Dunhuang art. “During the day, I think about Dunhuang. At night, I dream about it. I’ll do everything I can for Dunhuang,” she once said. Now at the age of 85, Fan is as busy as ever. She is still working hard to protect the caves.

Technology has done our world wonders: from development in medicine, travel, communication, to our day-to-day lives. It has undoubtedly changed the way our society works, and how we communicate with one another and ourselves. However, by completely welcoming technology as a part of everyday life, are we losing our ability to create?
Technology presents a new platform for creativity to exist on. Through technology, ideas can be set free and come to life in the physical world. We have the necessary tools for greater possibilities and new solutions. For example, businesses now have the opportunity to improve themselves more creatively through websites, film advertisements, social media or radio.
However, when we look more closely, it’s easy to notice some disadvantages. For example, many of us depend so heavily on automated calculations (自动计算) nowadays, rather than taking the time to work it out for ourselves. Another obvious situation is that a lot of people are spending too much time on screens. As a result, they are reducing the opportunities to come up with their own creations.
Is there a way to find a balance between technology and human creativity? I think so. It is simply a matter of making sure that creativity is not deterred by technology. The first way is to reduce our usage of digital devices (数字设备) by setting limits on when, where, and how long we use them, turning off the notifications (通知) on your phone, or putting your phone on “Do Not Disturb”. Once you become used to these, you will feel surprised how little you think about your phone.
Another wonderful way is to take daily walks in the nature. It can help you reset, re-balance, and keep going. In the long run, a daily walk can not only influence our creativity and imagination but further our physical and mental health. We can also develop our creativity by doing yoga, keeping a diary, or reading.
The key to the survival of our creativity starts with us. Will you put your phone away when spending time with friends? Will you try to find happiness and purpose outside of a screen? The action you choose to take will help change the relationship between creativity and technology for the better.
27.Why does the writer talk about businesses in paragraph 2?
A.To stress the importance of creativity.
B.To suggest good ways to develop technology.
C.To show the effect that technology has on creativity.
D.To explain the relationship between business and creativity.
28.What does the underlined word “deterred” mean in paragraph 4?
A.Examined. B.Controlled.
C.Replaced. D.Prevented.
29.Which of the following does the writer most probably agree with?
A.Limiting the usage of our phones can help us to develop creativity.
B.Spending time on screens is the easiest way to keep people focused.
C.Turning off the notifications on the phone will make people worried.
D.A daily walk does more good to physical health than to mental health.
30.What would be the best title for the passage?
A.Creativity in a World of Technology: Does It Exist?
B.Technology: How Does It Help to Develop Our Creativity?
C.Technology and Creativity: Which of Them Is More Important?
D.Technology and Creativity: How Do They Influence Each Other?

For example, businesses now have the opportunity to improve themselves more creatively through websites, film advertisements, social media or radio.”
根据和“As a result, they are reducing the opportunities to come up with their own creations.”可知,人们通过使用技术从而使自己减少了创作的机会,结合“Is there a way to find a balance between technology and human creativity? I think so. It is simply a matter of making sure that creativity is not deterred by technology.”
根据“ The first way is to reduce our usage of digital devices (数字设备) by setting limits on when, where, and how long we use them, turning off the notifications (通知) on your phone, or putting your phone on ‘Do Not Disturb’. 第三部分 英语知识运用(共两节,满分25分)
第二节(共10小题,每小题1分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
Young people are often unhappy when they are with their parents. They say that their parents don’t understand them. They often think their parents 51 (be) too strict with them.
Parents often find it difficult to win their 52 (children) trust, and they seem to forget how they 53 (them) felt when they were young.
For example, young people like to do things without much thinking. It’s one of their ways to show that they grow up and they can solve any difficult problems. But older people always think 54 (much) than young people. Most of them plan things ahead and don’t like their plans to 55 (change), so when you want your parents to let you do something, you will 56 (success) easily if you ask before you really start doing it.
Young people often make their parents 57 (angrily) by the clothes they wear, the music they enjoy and something else. But they don’t mean to cause any trouble. They just want to be cut off (摆脱) from the old people’s world and they are trying to make 58 new culture of their own. And 59 their parents don’t like their music or clothes or their ways of speech, the young people will feel very sad. Sometimes instead of going out with their parents, they just want to stay 60 home alone and do what they like.
If you plan to do something, you’d better win your parents over and get them to understand you. If so, your parents will certainly let you do what you want to do.
51.are 52.children’s 53.themselves 54.more 55.be changed 56.succeed 57.angry 58.a 59.if 60.at
根据“They often think their parents”可知,时态为一般现在时,结合“too strict with them”和所给词可知,be strict with sb“对某人严格”,主语是their parents,所以be动词要用复数形式are。故填are。
根据“how they…felt when they were young.”
故填more。
根据“Most of them plan things ahead and don’t like their plans to…”,结合所给词可知是不喜欢计划被改变,此处是被动语态,结构为:be+过去分词,change的过去分词是changed,不定式to后跟动词原形。故填be changed。
根据横线前“will”和“if you ask before you really start doing it.”
根据“Young people often make their parents…”
根据“they are trying to make…new culture of their own”可知,此处表泛指,new是以辅音元素开头的词,所以填入a,意为“一种”,表达他们正试图创造一种自己的新文化。故填a。
根据“their parents don’t like their music or clothes or their ways of speech”和“the young people will feel very sad”可知,前半句是后半句的条件,所以填入if,引导条件状语从句。故填if。
根据“they just want to stay…home alone”可知,此处指待在家,stay at home“待在家”,固定搭配。故填at。

For Chinese readers, improving reading speed and understanding background knowledge before starting to read materials is helpful. With its help, you can read faster. When reading, many learners believe that the first thing they should do is to search for new words. This will make them feel bored and disrupt their reading speed! Even worse, they always focus more on Chinese grammar rather than the main idea of the material. To be honest, it’s best for you to grasp the main information in a short period of time. Overall, this is the key to increasing your reading speed.

The journey began with fun training lessons. 33 Among the different skills needed for a museum volunteer, especially a little interpreter (讲解员), strong communication abilities are seen as important. 34 And we were also told how to answer their questions and explain things in a way that makes sense to them, depending on their age and interests.
One of my most memorable experiences was explaining the arched (拱形的) door of the glazed arch of Grand Bao’en Temple (大报恩寺琉璃拱门). 35 I shared its ancient history and amazing craftsmanship (工艺) with visitors. They were all very interested in it. I felt so proud that I had a deeper understanding of our cultural heritage My love and pride for traditional Chinese culture will always be with me in my life.
A.We are crazy about being a volunteer.
B.It played a big part in the Ming Dynasty’s temple architecture (建筑).

D.It was in my junior high school years that I decided to become a museum volunteer myself.
