Step 2 Work on A 1.Write the numbers from 0 to 10 on the blackboard and teach the students to read them one by one. 2.Introduce the numbers from 11 to 19,explaining the formation rules (e.g.,eleven = ten + one,twelve = ten + two,etc.). 3.Teach the tens numbers (20,30,40,etc.) and the combination of tens and the single digits (e.g.,21 = twenty⁃one,35 = thirty⁃five,etc.). 4.Introduce the words “hundred”,“thousand”,and “million” and explain how to use them in numbers. 5.Let students read the text about Neil’s home and pay attention to the use of cardinal numbers. 6.Ask students to try to read the big numbers in the box.Give more numbers to practise. 7.Work on A1 (1)Ask students to read the sentences about Simon’s home and family and pay attention to the numbers in them. (2)Ask students to answer some questions:“What’s the room number?” “How old is Simon’s sister?” 8.Work on A2 (1)Divide students into pairs and ask them to talk about their own home and family,using cardinal numbers. (2)Each pair should write down their conversation and then share it with another pair. Step 3 Work on B 1.Read the sentences about Li Mengtian and ask students to pay attention to the use of cardinal numbers.Explain the meaning and function of each number in the sentences. 2.Work on B1 (1)Let students complete the test on ordinal numbers. (2)Talk in groups and summarise the use of ordinal numbers. (3)Check together. 3.Work on B2 (1)Read the three bloggers.Complete the sentences with the correct ordinal numbers. (2)Check and correct them. 4.Work on B3 (1)Let students write a short text about their family life,using both cardinal numbers and ordinal numbers.
