1. immediately adv.立即,马上 conj.一……就(immediate adj.立即的;即时的;急迫的)
·immediately= as soon as= instantly 一……就(后跟时间状语从句)
·用作连词,引导时间状语从句,表示“一……就”的有:immediately/instantly/directly/the moment/the minute/the instant
(1) If you see a fire happen in the house, cut off the electricity immediately.
如果你看到房子里放生了火灾,请立即切断电源。
(2) She called 120 immediately she saw her grandmother pass out.
一看到她奶奶晕倒了,她立即拨打了120.
(3) We’re looking forward to your immediate response.
我们期待着您的即时回复。
2. concentrate vi.&vt. 集中(注意力、思想等);全神贯注(concentration n.集中;专注;关注;重视)
·concentrate on(doing)sth. 集中;全神贯注于(做)某事
·concentrate one’s mind/attention/energy on… 将心思/注意力/精力集中于……
注意:表示“专心于,全神贯注于”的短语还有:focus one’s mind/attention on; put one’s heart into。
(4) It’s time that I concentrated all my energy on my work.
是该把我所有的精力都用到工作上去的时候了。
(5) The sort of work calls for a high level of concentration.

4. prove vt.证明,证实 linking v.后来被发现是(proof n.证明,证据)

7. get into shape 强身健体

9. It is+adj.+for sb.+to do sth.
【教材原句】It is normal for teenagers to be slightly overweight and there is no reason why they should be worried.
青少年轻微超重是正常的,没有理由为此焦虑。(P45)
句中it是形式主语,动词不定式to be slightly overweight是真正的主语。
·It is+adj.+for sb.+to do sth. 句型中,形容词说明不定式所表示的行为的性质或特点。能用于该结构的形容词有:difficult, easy, hard, important, impossible, necessary, possible等。
·在It is+adj.+of sb.+to do sth. 句型中,形容词说明不定式逻辑主语的品行、性格和性质等。能用于该结构的形容词有:nice, good, stupid, silly, careless等。
(1) It is hard for me to finish the difficult task within five days.
对我来说,很难在五天内完成这项艰巨的任务。
