The birth of a male white-tailed eagle signals the success of the Roy Dennis Wildlife
Foundation (RDWF)and Forestry England project to retum these iconic birds to their original
widespread locations along the southern coast of England. The last time a white-tailed eagle chick
grew in England,Mozart was working on his opera Idomenco in Gormany.
For two centuries these amazing birds were missing from most of the UK,having been wiped
out by human persecution by the early 20th century.
In 2020,the parents of the landmark bird were translocated from the Outer Hebrides and
north-west Sutherland in Scotland to the Isle of Wight. This is an area with plentiful food to sustain
them.It is also a location from which the birds could spread out to cliffs, lakes and forests.
Female G405 and male G471 were two of 25 eagles (16 arc still alive)relcased by the RDWF
and Forestry England as part of the ongoing project. And they are onc of three pairs to have now
established breeding territories in the south of England.
The chick hatched earlier this summer at a nest on private land, the exact location of which is
being kept a secret to ensure the welfare of the young bird.
"This is a very special moment for everyone who has worked on,supported and followed this
ground-breaking project,"Roy Dennis says,founder of the RDWF."Restoring a breeding
population in southern England, where the species was once widespread, has been our ultimate goal.
Seeing the first pair reach this stage is truly incredible."
The young whitc-tailcd cagle has now bcen ringed and fitted with a satellite tag so that
its progress can be tracked.A further releasc of young white-tailed eagles is planned for late
summer from the project team's base on the Isle of Wight.

Most people think that procrastination()is a negative habit. But people like me who
routinely put off doing assignments, are likely to defend our"slower"approach to getting tasks
done.
I'm the only procrastination in my family. My parents and sister were all bomn with the "do it
right now"gift. They are always in a rush,as if closely rushed by an invisible deadline.Personally,I
prefer a more relaxed pace. When my parents voiced their concem about my tendencies, saying
"Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today,""No way!"I responded, confidently
presenting my research as a defense. It said people procrastinated when they need to solve a
problem or commit to a topic or project. In these cases, delaying a decision can be beneficial. This
was because our minds continue to reflect on problems even when we were not actively thinking
about them, which could lead to more creative solutions. My findings filled me with satisfaction
and pride. My method of getting things done was just as good as my sister's...or so I thought.
At school we'd been talking about architecture and design. As part of the final assessment my
teacher Mr.Smith announced an exciting project that each student would have a month to complete.
We were expected to choose our materials, construct a small building and make use of things we
had leamed in class. Not only would the winners receive extra credit, but the winning constructions
would be proudly displayed in the cafeteria."I have no clue how I could get it done,"my friend
Nate sighed in despair.I didn't say anything. Not because I shared his anxiety but because I was not
nervous at all.I loved hands-on projects!Picturing my brilliant work exhibited in the cafeteria,I
was fully convinced that I would definitely produce something that could impress everyone. So
relaxed was I that I didn't give it a second thought for weeks.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右:2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Before I knew it,I had only one day left for the project.
That taught me a great lesson.
