四、阅读理解(30分)
A
One little miracle (奇迹) has been happening to me recently, and it gives me a special joy.
A few months ago, I was telling my daughter, Sally, some stories about my mother. My daughter was so young when my mother died that she doesn’t remember her well. I told her all I could remember, like how wonderful my mother was and how much she meant to me.
One day, Sally was sad because her grandmother was in heaven (天堂) and she couldn’t see her. I explained that though her grandmother was dead, now she was still watching over us and could send us something to let us know she was there. She could be anywhere, even riding invisibly (看不见地) on the back of a butterfly. Just after I said this, a butterfly flew down right by us, and we laughed happily.
Now many people would say it was just luck that the butterfly flew down at that time. A funny thing, however, has happened since then. Every time I go out in any type of weather I see butterflies. Very often they fly right by my face to get my attention. I always say hi to Mum, send her my love, and thank God for little miracles.
Everyone is always looking for some big miracles to come out and save them when they are in trouble, but they don’t notice the little miracles that happen every day right in front of their eyes. I know what they really are, however. For me little miracles are the best kind. So many little miracles happen around me all the time that I know they are not just luck.

Dereck and Beverly are wildlife animal filmmakers (电影制片人). They have made lots of films about animals and plants. Their job is to keep and protect the big cats of Africa from damage (伤害). Beverly also takes photos of the lions, and her pictures have appeared in National Geographic magazine.

The world uses about a thousand million tons of water a day. Water is a human right and everyone should have their share. Yet more than 700 million people around the world have trouble getting clean, safe water.
Treating wastewater is a good way to provide fresh water for us. And it also helps the environment by keeping waste out of rivers and oceans. 80% of wastewater around the world is not treated at all, and it is running into oceans. But now we have got the technology to treat and reuse the wastewater.
While 75% of our planet is covered with water, only 2% is fresh water – that comes from rivers, lakes, ice and snow. The rest, 98% of the water, is in seas and oceans. It is too salty to drink. Then desalination businesses come in. More than 19,000 factories have been built around the world, mostly in coastal countries. They process (加工) more than 92 million tons of water every day. But the technology they use requires a lot of energy.
Scientists are working to create a less costly technology. They want to produce 20 times more clean water and make sure everyone has enough. But for now, the world still faces each day with not having enough water for everyone.
( )61. How many people have trouble in getting clean water around the world?
A. Under 10 million. B. Only 19 million.
C. About 92 million. D. Over 700 million.

C. keeping waste out of ricers and oceans D. sending waste to coastal countries
( )63. What does the underlined word “desalination” in Paragraph 3 mean?
A.远洋运输 B. 潮汐发电 C.食盐销售 D. 海水淡化
( )64. At present, the technology to process water ________.
A. needs much energy B. saves much money
C. satisfies everyone D. causes pollution
( )65. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. Water should be a human right. B. The water problem is still serious.
C. Our planet is covered with water. D. Everyone has enough clean water.

五、任务型阅读(10分)
阅读下面短文,根据短文内容填写表格,每空限填一词。
For hundreds of years, scientists have been trying to answer what things have an effect on people’s emotions. How you feel is controlled by many things. Your emotions can be affected by your personality, the actions of others and the events around you. Perhaps you don’t know your emotions can be influenced by the weather as well.
People often say they feel good when the sun is shining and sad when it is cloudy. In fact, sunlight makes us feel good. When sunlight hits our skins, our bodies produce a vitamin. Vitamins are natural chemicals (化学物质) which we all need to stay healthy. Sunlight helps our bodies produce vitamin D. Vitamin D helps our bodies make a special chemical. This special chemical affects our brains (大脑) and makes us feel happy. For example, there are long, dark winters of little sunlight in Sweden and Norway, so many people in these countries often feel sad. Without much sunlight, their bodies produce less vitamin D. Without enough vitamin D, their bodies make less of this special chemical which makes them feel good. To help the people in these countries feel better, special ‘sunrooms’ with artificial (人造的) lights have been built. People can go there and get ‘sunlight’ for an hour or two!
The weather can also affect people’s emotions in other ways. Hot weather can make people angry because people feel uncomfortable when they are hot. In the same way, rain can make people angry because being wet can be unpleasant. As you can see, the weather can have an effect on the chemicals which control our brains. Through these ways, the weather can influence our emotions. Sadly, while the weather can change us, we can hardly change the weather.
The (71)______influences people’s emotions
What influences
people’s emotions?
Your personality, the (72)______of others, the (73)______ around you and the weather.

▲Hot weather: We feel angry (76)______in hot weather because we feel uncomfortable when it is hot.
▲(77)___weather: We feel angry because being wet can be (78)_____.
Conclusion
The weather can influence our emotions (79)______it influences the chemicals that control our brains.
