For as long as we can remember, one of the most popular ways parents use to punish their children has been the “time out”.
It seems that it is a good idea: the child sits on his own to reflect(反思)on what he has done. Then, when the time is up, he will apologize and learn from the mistake.
However, just because it’s something that’s been done for years, that doesn’t mean it is the right thing to do. In fact, very often, children don’t sit nicely and think about what they’ve done. Instead, they need to be told a few (or many) times to go back to their places and stay quiet. They’re not reflecting on why they are in the “time out” at all. More likely than not, they’re probably just really angry, and ‘so’ are the parents. In the end, both the parents and the children make each other unhappy, or even angry.
What can parents do to change this situation? You may have already heard of things like peaceful parenting(育儿)and gentle parenting. These focus on the relationship between parent and child through building trust and love. So, instead of starting a “time out”, try something called “time in”. A “time in” needs both parent and child to stay close until both get calm. After that, the parent, and child can discuss what happened and solve the problem together. If the child can make changes, everyone can then move on.
As we all know, punishment and violence(暴力)seldom work and will never teach the children what the right way to act is. A “time in” can be the great time for the children to learn through mistakes, Kids learn how to build their emotional and social skills through difficult situations. So, instead of punishing them for acting their age, we can use chances to teach and guide them to a place of learning.
A “time in” may take more time, but it does work.
32. During a “time out”, a child is told to ________.
A. stay outside B. make a promise C. sit alone and reflect D. return to school
33. In the writer’s opinion, a “time out” ________.
A. is becoming more popular B. doesn’t always work
C should be parents’ first choice D. takes too much time
34. When a child has done something wrong, the writer suggests that ________.
A. both teachers and parents discuss how to solve the problem
B. parents try something called “time in” instead of “time out”
C. the child say sorry to his or her parents and learn from mistakes
D. the child stay at home and reflect until he never makes mistakes
35. Which of the following can be the best title for the passage?
A. Why not “time in”? B. Learn from mistakes
C. “Time out” or “time in”? D. No violence at home!

①Have you ever played with another dog around your dog or played with a different dog when you’re taking a walk? Many dogs don’t like it when they’re not the center of their owners’ attention (关注). Whether it’s a new baby or the cute little dog next door, there’s a good point that your dog doesn’t want to share your love with anyone else. Some people may think that jealousy is a human-only feeling. But it’s not true.
②A few years ago, researchers at the University of California, San Diego, found that dogs showed jealous actions when their owners showed love to another dog.
③For the study, researchers watched videos of interactions (互动) between 36 dogs and their owners in their homes. Researchers let the owners pay no attention to their dogs but play with a robot dog which looked like a real dog. Owners talked to it sweetly and shared everything with it.
④About 60% of the dogs would touch or push (推) their owners when they were playing with the robot dog. About one-third of the dogs tried to get between the owner and the robot dog and some even barked (大叫) at “the other dog”.
⑤“Our study shows that dogs not only show jealous actions but also try to break up the relationship between the owner and a competitor,” said Professor (教授) Christine Harris, one of the researchers.
⑥So your dog might act differently when he’s trying to get your attention and may be experiencing feelings of jealousy. For example, he may get your attention by licking (舔) you or he may suddenly run into the bathroom to get attention or even to show sadness. So if you have more than one pet, be sure to give them the same attention so that any of them will not feel forgotten.
36. How does the writer start the topic?
A. By listing the numbers. B. By telling some facts.
C. By comparing two dogs. D. By showing an example.
37. What is the meaning of the word “jealous” in the second paragraph?
A. 难过的 B. 伤心的 C. 嫉妒的 D. 失望的
38. Which of the following statement is TRUE?
A. Researchers believe that jealousy is a human-only feeling.
B. Dogs feel jealous only when their owners play with other dogs.
C. You should give your pets the same love to make them feel unforgotten.
D. Researchers studied the interactions between 36 robot dogs and their owners.
39. If we put the passage into three part, which is the best structure?
A. B.
C. D.

Ⅵ. 任务型阅读。(65-67小题,每小题2分,68小题3分,共9分)
If we want to grow as people, we can’t just depend on our own ideas of how we’re doing. We also need to know what other people think about our performance. Receiving feedback (反馈) from others can help us see the larger picture and show us a way forward to success. However, someone has to give that feedback, and sometimes, that someone will be you. How should you deal with this?
First things first—if you notice a situation in which some feedback would be helpful, give it as soon as you can. If you wait until the problem disappears from the person’s mind, they might not understand what you’re trying to tell them. Take the person to a safe, comfortable place and offer your advice in private.
When you’re giving feedback, it’s important to keep in mind that no one likes to be told they’re doing a bad job. Make sure you also give some good feedback after telling something bad. I think they can accept your feedback in this way. Like the saying goes, “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.”
Finally, all good feedback shares something in common. It should help achieve a goal and look toward the future. You can’t change what’s already happened, but you can stop it from happening again. Tell your friends they should take more notes in class instead of talking about how they should have studied harder for the big history exam they failed.
I believe that you are halfway to giving someone feedback in a proper way by taking my advice. Of course, you can ask some other experts for more information.
45. Can we just depend on our own ideas without thinking about others’ feedback?
_____________________________________________________________
46. Why is it important to give feedback in time?
_____________________________________________________________
47. If we need to give someone feedback, how should we do that well?

48. Do you think feedback is necessary for our improvement? Why or why not?

A. is becoming more popular B. doesn’t always work
C. should be parents’ first choice D. takes too much time

【答案】例文
A Little Effort Every Day Makes a Big Difference
Last year, I wanted to learn to play the piano. At first, it seemed impossible because I knew nothing about music. But I decided to practice just 15 minutes every day. I started with simple songs and learned one note at a time. Some days I felt tired, but I never skipped practice.
Slowly, my fingers became faster, and I could play short tunes. After five months, I played a whole song for my family. They clapped and smiled! I felt proud of myself.
This experience taught me that small steps every day can lead to big success. Now, I believe even the hardest goals can be reached if I keep trying.
