S:We should speak them out and ask our parents,friends and teachers for help. T:If my friends and I have some problems,can you help us?What will you do? S:Yes,of course... Step 2 Work on 3a 1.Ask the students to scan the letter first and underline the words or phrases they don’t know.Then let them discuss with classmates or look them up in the dictionary. 2.Let the students read the letter carefully again to complete the chart in 3a. 3.Let the students check the answers with their partners and let some students share their results. 4.Lead the students to read the letter aloud. 5.Lead the students to learn the article sentence by sentence,and especially explain the important language points. 6.Project the main information on the screen or write them on the blackboard.Then let the students retell the contents of the letter. Step 3 Work on 3b-3c 1.Let the students discuss the questions in 3b with a partner. 2.Get some students to present their own opinions. 3.The teacher summarizes and gives his or her own opinions. 4.Ask the students to read the words or phrases in the left in 3c and find those of similar meanings in 3a. 5.Ask the students to check the answers with the partners.Then let them make sentences with the words or phrases. 6.Let some students share their own sentences and give comments. Step 4 Work on Grammar Focus 1.Have the students read Grammar Focus aloud and translate the sentences. 2.Ask the students to practice the conversations in pairs and exchange roles. 3.Explain the grammar points in detail. 4.Let the students make up dialogs imitating the sentences in Grammar Focus with a partner. 5.Get some pairs to act out their dialogs. Step 5 Work on 4a 1.Ask the students to read the conversations carefully and understand their meanings.Then have them fill in the blanks. 2.Check the answers with the whole class. 3.Have the students recite and check between partners. Step 6 Work on 4b 1.Read the problems and get the students to give their advice. 2.Get the students to compare their own advice with their partners’ and make a discussion in groups. 3.Invite some students to share their advice.
