China and Western countries have something different in cultures about certain animals, but when it comes to pigs, we have the same idea—pigs are ugly, lazy and stupid.

However, pigs have some good qualities. They are even as smart as dogs and elephants. They have good memories. And they know whether people treat them well or not.
A UK cartoon, Peppa Pig is a most popular cartoon. The four members in the pig family teach children from all around the world about love, friendship and the value of family. And a Chinese cartoon movie, The Adventures of McDull, is also very famous. In the cartoon, the little pig, McDull, has a heart of gold and always works hard towards his dreams. Many people today say we should be ourselves, but this is not always easy. How can we be our true selves? I think Demian can help us find the answer.
Demian is a story by German writer Hermann Hesse. It talks about a boy named Sinclair and his hard journey to find out who he really is. With the help of his friend Demian, Sinclair learns more about himself and the world around him. Along the way, Sinclair faces difficult questions and understands that life isn’t always simple.
The story is deep and creative. It talks about how we can grow by learning more about ourselves. Hesse writes about problems that teenagers often face, like understanding that the world is not just good or bad.
Hesse shares his ideas in a creative way. He shows how Sinclair grows in three stages (阶段), with each one becoming deeper and more meaningful. He also uses symbols, saying “The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born must first destroy a world.”

Passengers must be between 18 and 60 years old. They need to be healthy. They also have to take some security training before the trip.
The trip will use the company’s Nebula-1 rocket. It runs on oxygen and kerosene (煤油) and can be reused. This makes the launch (发射) cheaper. As this technology gets better, space tickets might become less expensive, said Huo Liang, CEO of Deep Blue Aerospace.

The Chinese video game Black Myth: Wukong has become a big hit. It sold more than 10 million copies in just three days after it came out on Aug 20. The game is based on the Chinese story Journey to the West.
In the game, you play as the Destined One, a monkey following in the footsteps of the Monkey King on a journey to bring him back.
Many players, especially those from Western countries, find the game’s story and characters hard to understand because it’s so much about Chinese culture. To help, some Western fans have put in a lot of work. One fan even wrote a long summary of Sun Wukong’s abilities in all 100 chapters of Journey to the West.
By looking into the game and its background, Western players not only improved their gaming skills but also grew to understand Sun Wukong and the story of Journey to the West.
“Sun Wukong gives off a carefree, independent and chaotic (无秩序的) nature. He is not controlled by the need to set a good example for others like Spider-Man or Superman, who follow strict rules like with great power comes great responsibility (责任),” said Patrick McCarthy from the US.
Journey to the West tells an exciting story of a dangerous journey and looks at different ideas. It has inspired a lot of stories across cultures. The book has been translated into many languages, showing its lasting popularity.
36. What should the players do in the game?
A. Players play as the Monkey King. B. Players need to bring the Monkey King back.
C. Players need to read Journey to the West. D. Players should be from Western countries.
37. How can western players play Black Myth: Wukong better?
A. By knowing more about Chinese culture. B. By improving their gaming skills.
C. By spending long time to finish the game. D. By having the characters’ abilities.
38. What does Patrick think that makes Sun Wukong a different kind of hero?
A. Sun Wukong has great power and abilities. B. Sun Wukong sets a good example for others.
C. Sun Wukong follows his own rules and wishes. D. Sun Wukong strictly follows rules.
39. What is the passage mainly about?

Are you on social media? How old were you when you started using it?
Australia is making a new law. After it passes, people will have to be above a certain age to use social media. It is not known what the age will be, but it will most likely be between 14 and 16, said Reuters on Sept 10. The new law will start by the end of the year.
“We want them to have real experiences with real people because we know that social media is causing social problems,” said Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
He has a point. In a study on 20,000 Australian students in the 10th grade, many felt social media made them less happy. In another study, around 60 percent of parents thought social media was bad for children’s mental health (心理健康), reported The Guardian.
However, experts have doubts about the law. Lisa Given, a professor at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, wrote in The Conversation that many European countries tried this before but failed. This is because social media is an important way for teenagers to get information. It also helps them share their thoughts. So it is not right to take this away from them.
On the technical (技术的) side, the law will also be difficult to carry out, said the regulator (监管机构) for online safety in the country. For example, many apps now ask users their age. But users can simply lie and put in an earlier date. What’s more, the law may push teenagers to hide their online activities, or even use apps that are unsafe or badly managed.

【答案】
例文:
Recently, I always hear my classmates using curse words at school or in their daily lives. I think using curse words is unacceptable. It is not only impolite but also rude.
Some students use curse words because they think it makes them look cool or helps them show strong feelings.
However, this is wrong. To stop this, we should be good role models for others. Teachers and parents can make some rules to forbid using curse words. We should create a respectful and polite environment in both school and daily life.
