教学内容
1.单词:carry out,percentage disadvantage,risk。
2.短语:live on another planet,be worried about,be afraid of,after all,get ill, a different kind of, make a plan to,enjoy doing,make mistakes,keep an English diary,new grammar rules,get good grades,keep doing,write down,listening skills。
3.句型:(1)It started with a discussion about a guide to liv-ing on Mars.
(2)Some students said living on another planet such as Mars would be very interesting.
(3)However,some other students were worried about living there.
(4)I'm not sure if it's worth the risk. It worries me.
(5)I need to work harder to learn new words and grammar rules. I plan to copy the new words in my notebook and read them every morning.
(6)Grammar rules are difficult,so I will keep an English diary and try to use the new grammar rules I have learnt.

教学思路
本课时通过补全对话的形式,以听力和阅读填空的形式展现重点。在教学上,让学生对前面的课文A1和A2再略读一遍,找出文章中的有用信息,进行课文填空,从而提高学生的阅读水平和阅读速度,同时,提高学生的写作能力。自我评估部分主要是写作的练习,教师可以让学生根据自己的实际情况,进行适当的评估,并和学生分享。

教学过程
Step I Revision
Ask students to show us the dialogues they made up after class,choose the best group and reward them with three red stars.
Step II Presentation
1.Present the words and phrases through talking.
T:Are you busy every day?
Ss:Yes,we are.
T:Do you want to have robots do most of your work?
Ss:Yes.
T:Clever. And robots can't do harm to us. If we live on Mars,there are no schools and we have more time for our hob-bies. Living on Mars has some advantages, but on the other hand,it also has some disadvantages.
2.Drill and use the underlined words or phrases on the screen.
Step III Listening
T:Now Daniel will watch a TV programme on this topic.Let's help him make notes about it.
1.Play the tape for students to grasp the information.
2.Discuss and check the answers together.
3.Ask and answer according to the notes.
Step IV Further listening
1.Look at the information on Part A2. Try to fill in the blanks without listening,just guessing. Some answers may be clear.
2.Play the tape for them to finish this part.
3.Get some individuals to give answers.
4.Show them the answers on the screen.
Step V Practice
1. Ask students to do Part A3 on their own. Then have them practice the conversation in pairs. Ask two groups toact out the conversation in front of the class. For top students, they are cx-pected to close the books and act out the conversation.
2.Do a survey,
Ask one student to act as a journalist,and he or she can in-tervicw the other students about life on Mars. Some questions can help him or her complete the interview:
Would you lke to live on Mars?
How do you like living on Mars?
What will life be like on Mars?
Step V Learning Speak up
1.Presentation
Show them some pictures about the Earth and Mars. Then have a free talk.
Model:
A:What do you think of our Earth?
B:It's more and more crowded and polluted.
A:Would you like to live on Mars?
B:Yes. I'd like to.
A:I'd like to live there because I can have robots do all the homework.
2.Listening and role-play.
(1)Play the recording of Speak up for students,and ask them to imitate the intonation and pronunciation. Get students to have a scanning for main information while they are listening. Then ask them to read the conversation in pairs.
(2)Role-play.
Ask students to role-play the conversation in pairs. Then ask some pairs to act out their conversations for the class without books.
(3)Drill the phrase.
Step VI Homework
Finish the relative exercises.
