In a heart-warming story, Mr Sun from Fushun, Liaoning Province, made a video using AI technology to make his grandma happy. He used a special computer technology to make himself look and sound like his dad, who had been dead. It took him almost half a month to finish it. Then he sent the video to his 91-year-old grandma. Sun had lots of feelings while making the video. He felt a lot of sadness thinking about his dad and how much he missed him.

Sun’s dad died in 2023 because of a serious disease. Sun’s grandma didn’t know about it because her family worried it would make her too sad. They told her that her son was still in hospital far away. However, the grandma missed her son a lot and wanted to talk to him.
Sun got a creative idea from movies. He decided to use a computer program to make a video where he looked like his dad. He even had his hair cut to look more like his dad. With the computer program, he changed his face into his father’s in the video and said, “Mum, it’s Jihai, your son. I’m doing well in Beijing.” The video wasn’t very clear, but the grandma believed it was really her son.

中国文化中的龙
What year were you born in? Are you a dragon? That is to say, were you born in the Year of the Dragon?
As we know, the Year of the Dragon has arrived with us for a while, and everyone is excited about talking about dragons. Many of them have noticed that more and more people are using the word “loong” instead of “dragon” in their daily life. Actually, the loongs in Chinese culture, believe it or not, are far different from the dragons in Western culture.

七
First, let’s talk about their origins(起源). Loongs are connected to stars and rain. They are believed to have to do with the power of emperors in the past. Dragons, however, are related to floods and dangerous waters underground.
Second, let’s dig into their stories. Loongs are like messengers between the sky and the earth. They help out the rulers. Dragons, though, are troublemakers. They fight with the rulers and can even beat them! But as time passes, dragons lose their shine and heroes start killing them.

七
Third, let’s look at what they mean. Since loongs represent(代表) power, they are seen as a symbol of emperors and an important part of ceremonies and traditions. Dragons, though, are bad news. They are a symbol of evil(恶), and beating the dragons is seen as a victory over evil.
Lastly, let’s check out how they look. Loongs are like a mix of animals, with heads like camels and necks like snakes. They don’t need wings to fly because they are already skilled at it. Dragons are more like snakes, living underground and causing problems. They don’t have wings, either, but people add those to make them look more impressive.

Sometimes our happiness comes from our kindness. What is kindness then? To be exact, kindness is the quality of being friendly. If we give up our seats on the bus, help a classmate solve a maths problem, or welcome a new member into a group activity, we are showing kindness. Actually, these acts are done without expectation of rewards(回报).
We begin to realize that while helping others, we’re in fact helping ourselves. Showing kindness benefits us in different ways. It helps us know about ourselves. It develops our problem-solving skills. It also gives us the chance to be thankful.

We can never imagine the power of one simple act of kindness. It may change our day. And that day may change our week. That week may change the rest of the year—or even our whole life.
In short, we rise by lifting others.
Here are some teenagers’ acts of kindness.
Linda: I sat next to a new student at lunch. I was pleased because I made her day.
Kayla: In order to raise money and protect wild animals, I held a singing competition. I was proud of it.
Peter: I opened the door for an old lady. I felt happy because I could help other people.

An unforgettable day
It is necessary for us to help those who are in trouble. Here’s my unforgettable day of helping others.
My classmate Jason was ill last week. He had to be in hospital, so I tried my best to help him. Yesterday was Saturday. My classmates and I went to see him together. We gave him some flowers, because fresh and beautiful flowers could make him feel good and happy. What’s more, Jason asked me some questions about study and I brought him my notebooks. I was patient to answer his questions all the time. I hope he can be better soon.
I like helping others. Firstly, helping others makes me happy. Secondly, helping others is also helping myself. All in all, a helpful person is welcomed everywhere. I will try my best to help others in the future.

改变生活习惯,保护自然环境
Making smart changes at home can cut down rubbish(垃圾) we produce(产生) and help animals. “A lot of rubbish ends up in the environment. It is bad for animals,” said Lauren Boccardi, an expert. In the sea, turtles and fish can get stuck(被困住的) in different plastic(塑料), and birds may end up eating plastic by mistake. Here are some ways for you and your family to deal with the rubbish problem.
Think before you buy. When shopping for clothes, try to buy only what you need. For example, before you buy a jacket, ask yourself, “Do I need it? Could I borrow a jacket or buy a second-hand one?” One idea is to go shopping at second-hand stores, where you may find good clothes at low prices.
Cut down food waste(浪费). The food you throw away can end up in landfills(垃圾填埋场). They take up much space and cut down natural resources(资源). One way to waste less food is to buy a pantry(食品贮藏柜). While making a shopping list, check your cabinets(储藏柜). Use what you have first, before it goes bad or ends up in the rubbish.
Have a check before throwing rubbish. Put plastic caps on bottles. This way, if these things end up in the environment, they won’t do bad to animals.

Andean bears are an important part of the river ecosystem. They eat plants and sometimes poop out the seeds at different elevations in the Andes Mountains as they move around. 北京中轴线申遗成功
People have backbones, and so does Beijing. Its “backbone” is the central axis, a line that smartly organizes buildings in the city.
In July 2024, the Beijing Central Axis became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is now China’s 59th World Heritage Site.
Based on traditional Chinese culture, the Beijing Central Axis has a group of buildings and historical sites that shape Beijing’s old city. This axis is 7.8 kilometres long. It extends from north to south in central Beijing. This area includes 15 key parts, such as the Bell and Drum Towers in the north and Yongding Gate in the south.
The building of the Beijing Central Axis started in the Yuan Dynasty(1271-1368) and continued during the Ming and Qing dynasties(1368-1911). It still plays a great role in Beijing’s development today.
According to Lyu Zhou, director of the National Heritage Centre at Tsinghua University, the idea behind the Beijing Central Axis dates back to the Kaogongji(《考工记》), written before 221 BC. This book explains how to plan a capital city. The Beijing Central Axis shows the traditional Chinese ideas of zhong and he. For example, the Forbidden City was at the centre to show the power of emperors. People put other buildings around it for a feeling of harmony.

It was really a different experience to see them face to face.
