When you receive an invitation from others, please notice whether it includes an RSVP. Some people may ask, “What is an RSVP?” In fact, “RSVP” is a short form of French words “répondez s’il vous plaît”. An RSVP is a polite request from the sender to know whether or not you’ll be attending their event.
Many people don’t RSVP because they don’t want to let the host down. However, this usually causes more trouble than a simple no. For example, if the host is unclear about the number of the guests, they won’t know how much food and how many seats to prepare.
RSVP requests often include a deadline (截止日期). A proper RSVP deadline for guests is about two to four weeks before the event. If you want to attend but are unable to give a certain answer before the deadline, it’s best to refuse. You can get in touch with the host with your regrets and explain what is keeping you from being sure about your coming. The earlier you do that, the better.
Normally, invitations with an RSVP will have instructions on how to reply. A formal (正式的) invitation, such as a wedding invitation, will have a reply card that you can return in its provided envelope (信封). Informal invitations, on the other hand, may have a telephone number, email address, or other ways to reply, with instructions. The most important thing to remember is that if you say you’ll attend, you should be there.
21. “RSVP” has the closest meaning to ______.
A. mark B. reply C. notice
22. The host may be unclear about ______ if the guests don’t RSVP.
A. how the guests will come B. how many seats to prepare C. what food the guests prefer
23. You’d better ______ if you cannot give a certain answer when invited.
A. follow the instructions B. remember the deadline C. turn down the invitation

A. Culture Window. B. Science Study. C. Famous People.

Do you ever feel like you are just rushing from one subject to another? When things happen so fast maybe you can’t understand clearly what you are doing or learning, so it is important to stop yourself to think about what you have been doing or learning.
Self-reflection (反省) means slowing down and calming yourself, including calming your mind. By calming down and going slowly, you give your brain a chance to think about what it has already received. Some people prefer to do self-reflection in their mind. Others keep a diary. What’s more, taking notes is also OK. Each method works, depending on your own personal learning. You can follow the steps to do self-reflection.
First, choose the proper time to do it. School textbooks are divided into units of study. This makes it easier to begin self-reflection. Look for time when you complete a unit of study. Sometimes you know the unit is over because there is some kind of test. Use these natural breaks to stop and do self-reflection.
Then, find a quiet place to keep reflection diaries. Write down some notes on the new things that you learned in the unit. Let your mind think about the notes you have written and make some connections.
Finally, think about things that you are not sure of. Maybe you learned a new way to work out a math problem, but you’re not sure when to use it. Writing down your questions will help you remember to look for answers the next time you are working with the same topic.
Successful students always know self-reflection is important. If you have never taken the time to do self-reflection, try it now.

First, try to have an open conversation with your parents about how their words make you feel. They love you and would want to support you. Second, remember to take breaks and do activities that you enjoy. This can help relieve some stress. Finally, set realistic study goals and manage your time efficiently. It’s important to balance work and relaxation. You are doing your best, and that’s what truly matters.
Jimmy

21 “RSVP” has the closest meaning to ______.
A. mark B. reply C. notice
24. In which section of a newspaper can we read the text?
A. Culture Window. B. Science Study. C. Famous People.

The 2023 China-Germany Automobile Conference (中德汽车大会) took place in Jilin, Henan and Zhejiang, discussing the new energy vehicles (NEVs,新能源汽车) and cooperation between China and Germany.
China is playing a leading role in electric cars. In 2022, more than 65 percent of the world’s electric cars were from China, China Daily reported. It is reported that China sold 679,000 NEVs abroad in 2022.
In the European market Chinese cars, such as BYD and Hongqi, are among the top 50 best-selling motor companies, The Times reported. According to BYD, the company’s electric buses have now hit the roads of more than 100 European cities such as Amsterdam, London and Copenhagen, helping Europeans cut carbon emissions (二氧化碳排放) by over 200,000 tons.
NEVs made in China are also popular in Mexico. One local, Israel Aguilar, is deeply impressed. After nearly a year of trying out a Chinese NEV, Aguilar said he may never go back to driving his traditional petrol (汽油) car. “The NEV is more comfortable,” Aguilar told Xinhua.
“Technology is truly very important in these times, especially for a vehicle. And it’s truly wonderful for me to experience these technologies that come from China,” Aguilar said.
25. How does the writer show China’s leading role in electric cars?
A. By listing numbers. B. By asking questions. C. By comparing results.
26. What do we know about Chinese NEVs?
A. They sold well in the European countries.
B. They will hit the roads of cities in Mexico.
C. They are made in three provinces in China.
27. What can be inferred from Aguilar’s words?
A. He doesn’t show interest in new technology.
B. He has been used to driving a Chinese NEV.
C. He realized petrol cars are more comfortable.
28. Why does the writer write the text?
A. To introduce Chinese NEV companies to the European market.
B. To guide people to care more about environmental protection.

第三节(共5个小题;每小题2分,满分10分)

Do you ever feel like you are just rushing from one subject to another? When things happen so fast, maybe you can’t understand clearly what you are doing or learning, so it is important to stop yourself to think about what you have been doing or learning.
