This investigation of the murdering to two Dartmouth College professors has expanded to other nations, a prosecutor said on Saturday.
Investigators were interviewing people who knew Half and Susanne Zantop in the United States and abroad, New Hampshire Attorney General Kell Ayotte said.
The Zantops were born in Germany and frequently traveled overseas.
“The Zantops were not just members of the Dartmouth community, they also were members of the world community,” Ayotte said.
She gave no additional details about the investigation but said authorities have received new leads every day since the couple were found dead in their home on Jan. 27.
Their bodies were discovered by a dinner guest who arrived and found their door unlocked. The couple had been stabbed (刺) most likely by someone they knew or had let into their house, authorities said.
Friends said the Zantops were known for opening their home to colleagues and students. Authorities said a car impounded (扣押) in at the Manchester N. H. airport last week was one of many they plan to examine.
An employee at a car rental agency told WNDS-TV that the driver may have been involved with a university in Arizona.
In a letter issued Friday, Dartmouth President James Wright told students, faculty members and other staffers he was proud of the way they have supported each other in the wake of (紧跟) the killings. “Times such as these test any community,” he said. “The out pouring of sympathy continues to give us strength at this time.”

C. many countries D. in New Hampshire
37. The word “leads” in paragraph 5 probably means ________.

Jaguar (美洲豹) numbers have dropped very fast in the last hundred years. The main cause for this drop is people.
Jaguars once lived from Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico all the way to southern Argentina. Since 1900, the amount of land suitable for jaguars to live in has dropped by more than half. Today, wild jaguar families no longer live anywhere in the United States.
Gunshot wounds are the main causes of jaguar deaths. Jaguars sometimes kill cattle (牛). As a result, farmers shoot jaguars to protect their animals.
In the 1960s, people shot more than 15,000 jaguars a year in Brazil. Many farmers worry that steps to protect jaguars will lead to more jaguars killing cattle.
Studies show that people often blame jaguars for killing cattle. If there is enough wide prey, jaguars seem to prefer to eat wild animals such as deer, according to the Wildlife Conservation Society.
Jaguars are also in danger because people cut down trees for farms, cities and towns. This action has destroyed more than one and half billion acres (202,300,000 hectares) of jaguar habitat (栖息地). That’s nearly two-thirds the size of the United States!
Scientists believe that the key for jaguars to remain alive is to find ways for jaguars and people to live together peacefully.
40. It is stated in the text that hundred years ago ________.
A. 15, 000 Jaguars were killed a year B. there were much more wild jaguars
C. Jaguars were more dangerous D. Jaguars preferred to eat cattle

A. gunshot wounds caused more deaths of the cattle
B. no wild jaguar families remain in the United States
C. the land in North America is not suitable for jaguars
D. farmers are trying to shoot jaguars to protect their land
42. The underlined word “prey” Paragraph 5 refers to ________.
A. food that cattle eat B. animals that jaguars hunt for food
C. disease caused by wild animals D. deer raised by farmers
43. Which of the following causes the dropping of jaguar numbers?

Dear Howard,
I’m glad to share the customs and traditions of Chinese New Year’s Eve with you. The Chinese New Year’s Eve is on the last day of the Chinese lunar calendar.
To get ready for the festival, people clean and decorate their homes and put up couplets. On that day, people light firecrackers for good luck, watch the Spring Festival Gala on TV and get together for a big dinner. Everyone wears their new clothes and visits their parents and relatives. In recent years, however, there have been some new ways of celebrating the festival.
What’s more, more and more people choose to pay a New Year call on the phone or through the video. Best wishes!
Yours,
Xiao Wang
