Situational Teaching Method: Create real-life situations for students to experience and understand language use. 3. Interactive Teaching Method: Encourage active participation in class discussions to enhance learning. V. Teaching Procedures: Step 1: Warm-up 1. Greeting: (1)Greet students and briefly introduce the topic of the lesson: activities happening right now. (2)Engage students with a few questions to activate their prior knowledge. Example questions: - “What are you doing right now?” - “Can you tell me what your classmates are doing right now?” 2. Lead-in Activity : (1)Show some flashcards of activities (e.g., reading, playing football, eating). (2)Ask students to guess what the activities are and introduce the present continuous tense as a way to describe actions happening at the moment. - E.g., “She is reading a book right now.” Step 2: Presentation 1. Introduce Vocabulary : (1)Display pictures of various activities and have students match them with the correct vocabulary words (e.g., playing basketball, singing, writing). (2)Drill pronunciation of new vocabulary and correct any mistakes. 2. Present the Grammar Focus: Present Continuous Tense (5 minutes): (1)Write the structure of the present continuous tense on the board: - Affirmative: Subject + am/is/are + Verb-ing - Negative: Subject + am/is/are + not + Verb-ing - Interrogative: Am/Is/Are + Subject + Verb-ing? (2)Explain the rules and usage of the present continuous tense. Use examples from students’ responses. Example: “I am eating lunch now.” Example: “She is not playing football right now.” Step 3: Practice 1. Listening Practice : (1)Play the audio for 1a and ask students to listen for answers to the following questions: - What is each person doing? - Is the person doing it right now or later? (2)After listening, ask students to pair up and compare their answers. For example: “Tom is reading a book now.” 2. Speaking Practice : (1)In pairs, students take turns asking and answering questions using the present continuous tense. Use the example structure: - “What is he/she doing right now?” - “He/She is [activity] right now.” (2)Encourage students to use different activities and vary the structure (affirmative, negative, and questions). (3)Monitor and assist as needed. Provide corrective feedback during the activity. Step 4: Role-Play: (1)Divide the class into pairs. Each pair will perform a role-play where they describe the activities of a group of people at the moment. (2)One student in each pair will describe a situation in a group, using the present continuous tense, while the other student asks questions to find out more. Example: “John is playing the guitar.” - Partner: “Is he playing it right now?” - Speaker: “Yes, he is.” Step 5: Assignment : Assign students to write a short paragraph (5-6 sentences) about what they and their family members are doing right now or at a specific time. Encourage them to use the present continuous tense. Example: “My brother is watching TV right now, and my mother is cooking dinner.” VI. Reflection: After the lesson, reflect on what went well (e.g., active student participation, clear explanations) and what could be improved (e.g., more time for speaking activities). Adjust future lessons based on these reflections. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
