Every year almost all of the 330 million tennis balls made worldwide are thrown away. Lots of them end up in landfill, where they can take up to 400 years to decompose (分解). The International Tennis Federation (ITF) is trying to find out if tennis balls can be produced and used in a way that is kinder to the planet.
Tennis balls are made from an air- filled rubber core (橡胶芯). They are coated in glue and covered in felt (毛毡) which can’t be recycled. Although rubber can be recycled, the glue that holds the felt covering onto it is so strong that the two can’t be easily separated. The best quality tennis balls are used by the world’s top players. They are usually made from new materials— latex (胶乳). This is a milky sticky material collected from cuts made in rubber trees and mixed with chemicals.
Players don’t use tennis balls for very long before they are replaced. In big tennis games, the balls are hit so hard that they are changed after the first seven games, and then every nine games after that. This is to make sure the balls stay smooth and energetic.
The ITF has put together a team of scientists to try to find a way to design a fully recyclable tennis ball. They are also testing to see if tennis balls could be used for longer before being replaced.
Not all used tennis balls go to waste. The balls used at the Wimbledon championships are sold to the public. Some are given to wildlife charities, which use them as homes for harvest mice. Some are used as dog toys or to make a flooring material for tennis clubs and horse- riding centers.
26.How did the writer lead into his writing?
A.By listing facts. B.Through imaging.

27.Which of the following material in a tennis ball can be used again?
A.Glue. B.Felt. C.Rubber. D.Latex.

A.The tennis balls are used for many times.
B.It is a waste if we replaced the tennis balls so often.
C.The tennis ball would be changed after the first seven games.
D.Players replace the balls to keep them stay in the best condition.
29.What does the ITF do to make the used tennis ball be friendlier to the planet?
A.They try to find new materials that could be recycled.

C.They test to use the tennis balls more times.

Part of growing up is learning how to work things out for yourself. However, when you’re feeling upset, puzzled or lost, you don’t have to fight alone.
· 31
There are lots of reasons why you could need help, for example, with schoolwork, solving a disagreement, learning a new skill, or when you feel sad, anxious or angry. Feeling down because you’re finding something difficult, or it’s taking a long time to make progress, can also make you feel like you can’t do it. 32 When you’re fighting with something but you tell yourself you should be able to do it on your own, asking for help will move you forward more quickly than trying on your own.
·What stops you asking for help
33 It can be tricky if you’re not sure who to ask. You might think they haven’t got the time. If you think asking for a helping hand is a sign of weakness, it makes it harder to turn to another person. An expert says asking for help can feel risky. “We may feel scared that it won’t be taken seriously or that it isn’t a big deal to the other person or even that they won’t know what to say.”
· 34
Everyone finds things difficult sometimes. Experts believe asking for help is an act of bravery. “Letting someone in, trusting them with your story and asking them to listen to you and help you come up with ideas of how to deal with a problem takes great courage. When you ask for help, it takes the pressure off.” 35 By asking for help, you practise speaking up for yourself and saying what you need. It also shows you how someone else might feel when they’re fighting, which means you could be more able to offer a helping hand when someone needs it.
A.Asking for support is brave
B.When you might need help
C.There are other benefits too.
D.Asking for help isn’t always easy.
E.Asking for help would be smart choice.
F.All signs that you need help

Some 36 from the UK gave people potato chips. They were put in red, blue and white 37 . The potato chips in red and blue ones were 38 to be saltier than those in white ones.

51.例文
Dear friends,
It’s normal to have trouble and problems in life, especially for middle school students. What we can do is to face them bravely and solve them properly. Here are my suggestions for you.
First, you should make a proper plan for your study and try to find your own ways of studying. Second, make the best use of your time and try to find time to relax, such as doing some exercise, listening to light music and going for a walk and so on. Third, you should understand your parents and help your parents do some housework, such as sweeping the floor, washing clothes, taking out the trash and so on. You should learn to take care of yourself. Why not communicate more with your parents when you feel nervous? They may help you feel better. Please spend more time with your parents, you can take a walk after meals with your parents.
The process of solving problems is also a journey of our self-improvement. Overcome our own, then we can grow better.
Yours,
Warm Heart
