The Out Skerries Islands, which are around 280 km from the coast of Scotland, are home to about 70 people. The nearest town is Lerwick on the Shetland Islands. You can only get there by boat and it takes two and a half hours. Besides Aron’s school, there are also two shops, a church and a community hall on the islands.
Aron wasn’t the only student at the school at first. Until July there were several other children there. But now they are older, so they go to the secondary school in Lerwick. Aron has been the only student since September.
The school is very small. It has two classrooms, an art room, a music room and a library. Each week Aron studies Maths, English, Science and Art with the same teacher. She also gives him PE lessons. This is usually a long walk around the islands. He also has the school playground all to himself. Of course, there is one problem. He has no one to play with.
Aron has lived in Out Skerries since he was born and loves the outdoor life. He enjoys exploring (探险) the islands on his bike and jumping into the sea from the pier (突堤).
But his mother is worried that Aron might get lonely. She would like to see more families with children coming to live there. Many people have moved away since the local factory closed ten years ago. That’s why there are so few children on the islands and why Aron has found himself being known as the loneliest schoolboy in Britain.

The number of people living in the rainforest is rising, but the rainforest itself is becoming smaller!
During the 20th century, huge areas of rainforests were cut down. More and more people in Brazil and Indonesia moved into rainforest areas to find land for living. Local farmers cut down trees to grow crops (庄稼). Large companies have also moved into the rainforests to develop their factories.
The problem is that the area of the rainforest is becoming smaller and smaller. Scientists say that destroying (破坏) the rainforest is ▲ the earth and should be stopped. But why? Rainforest plants help to clean the air. What’s more, different parts of rainforest plants can be used to produce useful medicines and may be the key to solving serious health problems.
So how can we solve the problem? Governments can make some rules to protect their forests. Companies can create jobs elsewhere, so that fewer people have to live and work in the rainforests. Farmers are encouraged to plant crops in certain areas, and this helps to stop the soil from being washed away and produces better crops.

For some students, getting better grades can seem like an impossible task sometimes. Just paying attention to your teacher in class or studying hard isn’t always enough. 26 Research suggests that a person who likes doing activities can improve their grades.
Scientists think that those students who are active are not just exercising their bodies, but also exercising their brains (大脑). 27
In the most recent study, researchers found that when children played for half an hour each day, they were better at organizing their schoolwork as well as learning “difficult” subjects, such as maths.
28 Researchers think that if kids don’t get enough activities, they are going to be at a disadvantage when it comes to school performance.
In the research experiment, a group of children skipped with ropes, played basketball and did a number of other games or exercises. The other group of children didn’t do any activities. 29 Testing was mainly for maths and reading skills. Results showed that the children in the activity group did better on the tests than those who had no activity.
All work and no play will not only make Jack a dull boy, but will also negatively (消极地) affect his grades in school, according to a new study published in the Jownal of Pediatrics.
30 Dr. Belton, an expert, said, “If you’d like to see your kids do better in school, have them close their books, set down their pencils and go outside to play.”
A.What does this mean for children who aren’t active?
B.Only being worried about their grades can be helpless.
C.In turn, they can be able to improve their grades at school.
D.Are there other ways for students to improve their grades?
E.They took part in testing both before experiment and after the experiment.

C.In turn, they can be able to improve their grades at school.
