Travel is like a box of chocolates—you never know what you’re going to get, especially when you’re using a blind box plane ticket.
Fan Zhihua, who enjoys going wherever she wants and whenever she wants, bought her first blind box plane ticket in March last year. The 29-year-old went to Zhangye, Gansu Province. It’s a lesser-known destination, but it actually brings surprises.
When Fan arrived in Zhangye, she found that she was able to share a rented car with a few other people. This allowed the travelers to save money, since many of the area’s tourist places are far apart from each other. So Fan found a group of easy-going young women to join. They went to some tourist places together, but everyone was free to choose their schedule! “The best part of the trip is this way of travelling, casual and romantic,” Fan said.
That wasn’t her only gain. Before that, Fan thought most of the natural scenery (风景) she saw in photos was over-beautified. However, her trip to Dunhuang changed her mind.
After a couple of days in Zhangye, the group decided to leave for Dunhuang. Fan was never a big fan of making travel plans, so she just went along. Fan and her travel pals went on a camel ride, and as they entered the desert, she was amazed at her surroundings (周围环境). “I couldn’t describe it in words. To be honest, I’m not a history lover, but when I was in the endless desert, it was amazing,” Fan said. “I felt like I had become Zhang Qian, traveling to Xiyu.”
Fan believes that life itself is a journey made up of long and short trips. “I think I was brought into this world to have as many experiences as possible and that I should make every day count,” she added.

When Marion Sheppard began to go blind in her 40s, she cried, screamed, and felt sorry for herself. The doctor said she would never regain her vision (视力). It would only get worse, “This isn’t fair,” Sheppard said over and over again.
Since she was a little girl, Sheppard had always been a dance lover. But now she was so scared that she would never leave her apartment. She was afraid that, unable to see a stranger, she would be hurt on the streets. But mostly, she worried about the way she would appear to the world. She continually wondered, “What if people look at me differently and treat me differently?”
But after several months of sadness and fear, Sheppard started to tell herself, “You don’t understand yet, but you’ve got to keep moving.”
As hard as it was, Sheppard forced herself to go out. She pushed herself to attend various social events. As a single mother of one daughter, Sheppard continued her library job at The New York Times until her vision further got worse in her 50s. She kept moving, and she kept dancing, following her passion.
Sheppard was 61 when she attended a summer camp for the blind in 2008, where she taught her first dancing class. After that, she asked a Manhattan community center if she could teach there, but was refused because it would be too dangerous for the students. At last, she made the managers believe that she could teach very well as a volunteer.
Right up until the COVID-19 closed things down, Sheppard was teaching over a dozen people to move to the music. But Sheppard taught her beloved students on far more than dance steps. With confidence-building words and encouragement, she also gave them dignity (自尊) and independence.
In Sheppard’s classes, each student would dance in the center of the group, making moves as the others cheer them on. As Sheppard says, “We may be blind, but we’re doing our thing.”
51.What was Sheppard mostly afraid of after going blind?
A.The danger on the streets. B.Losing the self-care ability.
C.The way people treated her. D.Being unable to dance anymore.
52.When did Sheppard’s vision further get worse?
A.In her 40s. B.In her 50s. C.When she was 61. D.In 2008.

A.It needed a lot of space. B.It was Sheppard’s first class.

A.They are only for the blind. B.They are cheaper than other classes.

According to a recent survey report, 60% of teenagers complain that they can’t have a good communication with their parents. Parent-child relationship becomes a serious problem.
Nearly every parent says that we never grow up. In their eyes, we are always little ones and always do wrong things. For example, when I need to stay at home alone, they always worry about me and my life.
Most parents always try their best to buy their children pretty clothes, cool shoes, strange but expensive school things, and so on. They think that they have done everything they can for their dear little children. In return, they only want their children to get good grades in the exams.
But why do their children still argue with them? Does it mean that they still want more material (物质的) things? No. In fact, what they want is a true family. What does a true family mean? I think it means a place where we can hide ourselves from the outside cold world. From here, we can get warmth, we can get consolation (安慰), and we can get happiness. And one important thing is that we should be stronger in the outside world because we know that we have a family.
So I think parents and children should sit down to talk with each other. Parents let children feel that they have a true family and the children can understand parents more and more. Then, no children will be regarded as little ones.

C.To introduce the story of Zhang Qian.
D.To show her respect for him.
49.What might Fan learn from her trip to Dunhuang?
A.It’s now or never. B.Seeing is believing.

阅读下面短文,根据短文内容完成句子。
