John and his mom were busy cleaning the house. They cleaned upstairs, downstairs, inside and outside until everything was clean. Then, John’s mom noticed an old chair. That worn chair was for John’s grandpa. “John, come and help me.” John’s mom said. “We’ll take the chair to the curb (路边). The garbage truck is picking up on our block tomorrow.” As they tried to move the chair, John’s grandpa saw what was happening. “No!” He cried. “You can’t take my chair.” “But it’s so old…” John’s mom argued. “We’ll buy you a new one.” “No,” he insisted, trying to push his chair back into place. John’s mom finally let go of the chair and left the room. Slowly, the old man sat into his chair and closed his eyes. “Grandpa, why won’t you let us throw away the chair?” John asked. “You don’t understand, John.” His grandpa shook his head and said, “I sat in this chair with your grandma right here when I asked her to marry me. And I sat in this chair the night your father was born. Many years later,” stopped for a while, Grandpa continued, “I sat in this chair when the doctor called and told me that your grandma was ill. I was lost without her, but the chair gave me comfort and warmth.” The old man’s voice changed as he recalled that fateful day. “I understand now.” John looked at his grandpa and said, “this is not just an old chair. It is more like a friend.” “Yes,” he nodded. “We’ve gone through a lot together.” However, that night, when John and his grandpa were asleep, John’s parents carried the chair outside. It was a starless night. Snow fell silently from the black sky and covered grandpa’s chair in a blanket of white. The next morning, John was woken by the garbage truck pulling up to the house. He run downstairs and found the snow-covered chair stood helplessly at the curb, about to be pulled away. “Wait! Stop!” John yelled and rushed outside. The large noises were suddenly stopped. He then ran back inside and cried, “Mom, you can’t throw out grandpa’s chair. It is like a loyal friend that has witnessed the most important moments in his life!” Hearing this, John’s mom looked at grandpa and slowly walked towards him, “I’m sorry…I just didn’t realize how much it meant to you.” Together they carefully moved away the snow on the chair, heaved it back inside and placed it next to the fireplace to dry. John’s mom stepped back, as if seeing the chair for the very first time. “Mm…I guess it does give the room a certain touch of character,” she murmured. Everybody laughed. Stop!’ John yelled and rushed outside.”以及“He then ran back inside and cried”可推断,John这时的情绪很着急不安。故选D。 33. B。 D Your smartphone isn’t listening to you—but does secretly watch everything you do. Scientists made the finding while finding out the long-held rumor (传闻) that apps are able to control microphones in smartphones to secretly record audio to help them better target (把…… Smartphone users have complained of the frightening feeling for years—their apps are listening to their every word, but the new study couldn’t prove the practice had ever taken place. Scientists did an experiment that tested 17,260 of the most popular Android apps, including many owned by Facebook. Of those surveyed, more than half had the right to enter users’ camera and microphone, allowing them to activate the features (激活该功能) any time the app was open. Researchers didn’t find that any were secretly recording using the built-in microphone. The latest findings dispel the rumor that apps like Facebook sometimes record conversations and send keywords to third parties to help them target ads. Users have complained that after chatting about some topics or tourist attractions, relevant (相关的) ads will often appear across their apps. A closer look at the results shows that while apps are not listening, some do often record footage (镜头、片段) and screenshots of what users are doing. The software then sends this information to a third party for analysis. Researchers caught one app, GoPuff, recording the screens of users and sending the footage to mobile analytics company Appsee. The app, which has been downloaded more than 100,000 times from Google Play Store, took footage of a screen that asked for customers to list their post code. Once this problem was brought to our attention, the company immediately cleared all recording data from our servers. 34.What has worried smartphone users for years? A.Their phones spy on (监视) them every moment. B.Third parties may control their smartphone apps. C.They become the target of online advertisements. D.Some apps shoot video of their actions. 35.What does the underlined word “dispel” in Paragraph 5 mean? A.Spread. B.Prove. C.Explain. D.Remove. 36.Why do third parties receive footage from some apps? A.To collect personal postcodes for better delivery. B.To target the customers for their ads better. You (pay) back sooner or later. 根据“back sooner or later.” 主语you和谓语pay back是被动关系,所以用被动语态,一般将来时态的被动语态结构是will be done, pay的过去分词是paid。故填will be paid。 Have you ever visited Longmen Grottoes(石窟)or Yungang Grottoes? Around 1, 800 years ago, Chinese artists made statues in mountains. Over the years, these statues have gone through earthquakes, floods and wars. Now in the 21st century, however, they are facing an even bigger problem: tourism. Too many tourists go to visit those grottoes every year and this certainly does harm to the grotto statues. How? Over many centuries, these grotto statues slowly corrode(侵蚀)because of the acidic content (酸性物含量)of air, water and so on. But when they are open to the public, the corrosion process speeds up. According to a study, the carbon dioxide that visitors breathe out has made the air more acidic. Also, visitors bring in microorganisms(微生物). Even their body heat can increase the grottoes’ temperature. Bad behaviour can cause harm to the grotto statues as well. Too many visitors touch the grotto statues and cause their surfaces to change colour. When we visit the grottoes, we can often see a sign saying, “No Flash!”or “No Photos!” This is because the strong light can be bad for the statues, especially those with colour. The light can easily make them lose colour. To protect those ancient cultural treasures, recently China has asked the workers who take care of those grottoes not to allow too many visitors to come every day. And to keep a balance between protecting relies and educating the public, some grotto sites have also created their own digital(数字的)museums. Title: Grotto Statues Are in 54 Problems The grottoes corrode 55 when they are open to the public. →The carbon dioxide that visitors breathe out, the microorganisms visitors bring in and visitors’ body heat make the grotto environment more acidic. →Tourists behave badly. ●They touch the grotto statues with their hands. ●The strong light of cameras makes the grotto statues lose colour easily. 56 →Control the 57 of daily visitors. → 58 tourists with online tours in digital museums. 54.根据“Too many tourists go to visit those grottoes every year and this certainly does harm to the grotto statues. How?” 55.根据“But when they are open to the public, the corrosion process speeds up.” 56.根据“To protect those ancient cultural treasures, recently China has asked the workers who take care of those grottoes not to allow too many visitors to come every day. And to keep a balance between protecting relies and educating the public, some grotto sites have also created their own digital(数字的)museums.” 57.根据“To protect those ancient cultural treasures, recently China has asked the workers who take care of those grottoes not to allow too many visitors to come every day.” 58.根据“And to keep a balance between protecting relies and educating the public, some grotto sites have also created their own digital(数字的)museums.” Every detail . 【答案】should be paid attention to 【详解】根据中英文对照可知,空处缺少了“应该”,英文表达为should,“注意”英文表达为pay attention to,主语detail和pay attention to之间是被动关系,应用被动语态,结构为be+过去分词,情态动词should后面加动词原形,pay的过去分词为paid。故填should be paid attention to。 60. Hunger and thirst , and I realized that I was getting very weak. me“我”,宾格。故填drove me mad。 61. People should during daily life. 【答案】get along well with other people/get along well with others/get on well with other people/get on well with others 【详解】对比中英文句子可知,空格处缺少“与他人和睦相处”的英文表达,应用动词短语get along/on well with sb“与某人相处融洽”,他人可用other people或others表示,情态动词should后接动词原形。故填get along/on well with other people/others。 62. Reading everyone. 【答案】makes a great difference to/makes much difference to/has great effect on 【详解】根据中英文对照可知,空处缺少了“有很大的影响”,英文表达为make a great difference to/make much difference to/have great effect on,时态为一般现在时,主语reading是动名词,谓语动词也用三单形式。故填makes a great difference to/makes much difference to/has great effect on。 63. You will be fired if your work . 【答案】is not standard/is not up to standard 【详解】通过中英文对照可知,空格处为“不达标”be not standard,也可表示为“没有达到标准”,“没有达到”be not up to;“标准”standard。根据“You will be fired if your work”可知,if引导的条件状语从句,应遵循“主将从现”原则,空格处为从句,应用一般现在时,由于主语your work为不可数名词,故be动词用is。故填is not (up to) standard。 64. The city is so modern . 【答案】that I have fallen in love with it 【详解】根据中英文对照可知,英文句子中应使用短语so...that...“如此…… 故填that I have fallen in love with it。 There are many beautiful cities in China.
