It is/was +被强调部分+ that/who+其他部分
(1)强调句It没有词义,但不可被代替;
(2)It后的be动词只用单数形式is/was,具体用哪个看时态;
(3)被强调部分可以是主语、宾语和状语等,但不能用来强调谓语;
把“It is/was...that/who...”
I met my old friend in the street last night.
It was I that / who met my old friend in the street last night.
It was my old friend that / whom I met in the street last night.
It was in the street that I met my old friend last night.
It was last night that I met my old friend in the street.
Is / Was it +被强调部分+ that / who +其他部分 (把is/ was提到it前面,其他不变。)
It was I that / who met my old friend in the street last night.
Was it you that / who met my old friend in the street last night?
被强调部分(通常是疑问代词或疑问副词)+ is / was + it + that / who + 其他部分
It was in the street that I met my old friend last night.
Where was it that you met my old friend last night ?
(3)“not...until...”
It is/ was not until + 被强调部分+ that / who +其他部分
He didn’t go to bed until/ till his mother came back.
It was not until his mother came back that he went to bed.
1. On the contrary, I think it is Truman that ________(be) to blame.
【答案】is
2. John’s success has nothing to do with good luck. It is years of hard work _______ has made him what he is today.
【答案】that

3.Was _______because Jack came late for school that Mr. Smith got angry?
【答案】it
本题强调的是原因状语从句because Jack came late for school。故填it。
4. It ____(be) Jane and Mary who helped me the other day.
【答案】was
5.—Was it by cutting down staff ___________she saved the firm?
—No, it was by improving work efficiency.
【答案】that
被强调部分为by cutting down staff。故填that。
6.It was not until she took off her dark glasses ________ I realized she was a classmate whom I hadn’t seen for many years.
【答案】that
的强调句型“It was not until...that...”,因此空格处是that,故填that。
7.—What was it ________ made Daisy wild with joy?
—Her success in the A-level exam this year.
【答案】that

【答案】who/that
本处是强调句,是It is/was + 被强调部分+that /who 结构;强调的是the girl with black sunglasses,故填who或that。

【答案】It
强调句的结构为“It is/was+被强调部分+that/who+其他部分”。
It is a question that needs careful consideration.
It is novels that Miss Wang enjoys reading.
(1)it is/was和that对句子的影响
(3)that的省略
It is/ was … that …
I like you.
→ I do like you.
She likes the handsome boy.
→ She does like the handsome boy.
The boy liked his English teacher.
→ The boy did like his English teacher.
1.It was Sunday ________ we paid a visit to the museum.
【答案】when
故填when。
2.It was on Sunday ________ we paid a visit to the museum.
【答案】that。
本句去掉It was….that..,变成on Sunday we paid a visit to the museum。
3. —Where did you find the professor who made the speech yesterday?
—It was in the hall ______ the students often have a meeting.
【答案】where
故填where。
4.________ let your mother know all the truth. She appears to have been told everything.
【答案】Do
此处强调谓语动词,应用助动词do/ does/did。 应填do。 故填Do。
5. It is on the afternoon of September 1st______ I met her at the supermarket.
【答案】that
题中on the afternoon of September为强调部分,可还原成正常语序I met her at the supermarket on the afternoon of September。强调句型中去掉It is/was…that后句子仍通顺,意义仍完整。故填that。
6.If you have a job, do ________(devote) yourself to it and finally you’ll succeed.
7.It was in the backyard ________ my father planted many vegetables ________ he dug up a statue.
【答案】where; that
第一空________ my father planted many vegetables是定语从句修饰先行词backyard,从句缺少地点状语,故用where;第二空为强调句it was+被强调部分+that,被强调部分为in the backyard where my father planted many vegetables。故填where和that。
8.It was in the small house ________ was built with stones he spent his childhood.
【答案】which;that
故填which/that。
9.She________ (do) tell me about the meeting, but I totally forgot about it.
【答案】did
故填did。
10.It was in this old school ________ the government built in 1968 ________ he received good education.
【答案】which/that; that
分析句子可知,________ the government built in 1968为定语从句,先行词this old school在从句中作宾语,第一空用关系代词which/that。 故填which/that; that。

Yet although officers will not disappear, it’s hard to imagine that working life will return to before-COVID-19 (新冠肺炎) ways. For more than a century workers have pushed themselves on-to crowded trains and buses, or suffered traffic jams, to get into the office, and back, five days a week. However, for the past one year they have not had to commute (上下班往返), and may enjoy it for a long time.
Employers, for their part, have supported expensive offices in city centers because they need to gather workers in one place. The rent is only part of the cost; there are cleaning, lightning, printers, catering and security on top. Needless to say, in the homeworking era these costs are cut down.
Another part of the homeworking era may be the disappearance of the five-day working week. Even before the COVID-19 many workers became used to taking phone calls or answering emails at the weekend. In the homeworking era, the dividing line between home and working life, a useful way of relieving stress, will be even harder to keep. It may be lost altogether.
What’s more, without the Monday-to-Friday commute, the weekend seems more nebulous, for employees may walk and take breaks freely, with only the company video calls unchanged.
Looking further out, the homeworking era may bring other changes. Some may decide to live in small towns where housing costs are lower, since they have no need to commute. Men will have fewer excuses to skip cleaning or childcare if they are not disappearing to the office.
In a sense, this is a return to normal: until the 19th century most people worked at or close to their homes. But social historians may still regard 2020 as the start of a new age.
1. Which one is the change of the working life after the COVID-19?
A. Living in big cities. B. More traffic jams.
C. Reduced working cost. D. Less phone calls at the weekend.
2. What does the underlined word “nebulous” mean in the 4th paragraph?
A. Important. B. Unclear. C. Fruitful. D. Annoying.
3. Which word can best describe the writer’s attitude in the last paragraph?
A. Doubtful. B. Objective. C. Supportive. D. Negative.
4. What’s the best title of the passage?
A. 2020: the Start of a New Age?
B. Working at Home: Are You Ready?
C. Who is the Winner: Employer or Employee?
D. Home and Working Life: How to Keep Balanced?
C 2. B 3. B 4. A

根据第二段中“Needless to say, in the homeworking era these costs are cut down. (不用说,在家办公的时代,这些成本被削减了。)”可知,降低工作成本是新冠肺炎后工作生活的变化之一。故选C项。
【2题详解】
词句猜测题。根据第段中“What’s more, without the Monday-to-Friday commute, the weekend seems more nebulous, for employees may walk and take breaks freely, with only the company video calls unchanged. (更重要的是,没有了从周一到周五的通勤,周末似乎是更加______________,因为员工们可以自由走动和休息,只有公司的视频电话没有变化。)”由于没有了从周一到周五的通勤,这个上班的和周末的概念应该是变得模糊不清了,可知,下划线的单词nebulous意为“朦胧的,模糊不清的”。故选B项。
【3题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段中“In a sense, this is a return to normal: until the 19th century most people worked at or close to their homes. But social historians may still regard 2020 as the start of a new age. (从某种意义上说,这是一种常态的回归:直到19世纪,大多数人都是在家工作或在家附近工作。但社会历史学家可能仍将2020年视为一个新时代的开始。)”可知,客观性一词最能描述作者在最后一段的态度。故选B项。
【4题详解】
主旨大意题。根据第一段中“Yet although officers will not disappear, it’s hard to imagine that working life will return to before-COVID-19 (新冠肺炎) ways. (然而,尽管办公人员不会消失,但很难想象工作生活将回到新冠肺炎之前的方式)”以及最后一段中“But social historians may still regard 2020 as the start of a new age. (但社会历史学家可能仍将2020年视为一个新时代的开始。)”可知,本文主要讲述了在2020年新冠肺炎之后,上班族的工作方式发生了变化,以在家办公为主,社会历史学家将2020年视为一个新时代的开始。一词本文的最佳标题选项A“2020:新时代的开始?”最符合题意。故选A项。

What do you think of 80s pop music? Do the names George Michael, Madonna and Michael Jackson sound familiar? Well, these are just some of the names that were well-known in the music scene of the 80s and early 90s. The 80s pop music scene was an important step to the popularity (普及) of present-day music. A new wave in the music scene was introduced, which made such music styles as punk rock, rap music and the MTV popular. Although it was an end to the old 60s and 70s styles, it was also the beginning of something big. The popularity of music videos meant that artists now replaced their guitar-based music with visual displays. A new wave of artists came on the scene and the entire industry developed quickly.
The most famous 80s pop music video is Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Introduced in 1982, few people can forget the video not only because of its never-be-foreseen images, but also because of the popularity it received. Think of how 80s pop music changed the lives of people who grew up in the 80s. Ask a young man today to tell you the names of the “New Kids on the Block” and he will start talking about the neighbor kids who just moved in. These are not the answers you might have heard in the 80s. Though today’s young men do not recognize how cool 80s pop music was, most people will always remember it for what it was and these are happy memories they will always love.
Some of the 80s pop music legends (传奇人物) include Madonna, U2, AeroSmith and of course the King of Pop Michael Jackson. Let’s not forget Prince, Tina Turner, Phil Collins and Motown’s Lionel Ritchie. Some of these musicians played music that has stood the test of time. Undoubtedly, the 80s pop music scene will live on for many more years to come.
5. What is the text mainly about?
A. The characters of 80s pop music. B. What made 80s pop music popular.
C. 80s pop music’s steps to popularity. D. The effects of 80s pop music.
6. 80s pop music mainly includes the following styles EXCEPT ________.
A. guitar-based music B. the MTV C. rap music D. punk rock
7. Michael Jackson’s Thriller impressed people so deeply mainly because ________.
A. it changed the lives of people B. he sang it in a special style
C. it was made into a music video D. it left people with happy memories
8. The purpose of the last paragraph is to tell readers that ________.
A. 80s pop music is and will remain popular B. 80s pop music has many faults
C. 80s pop music is now out of date D. we shouldn’t forget the great musicians of the 80s

Koalas live in the eucalyptus (枝树)forests of southeastern and eastern Australia. They rely on the eucalyptus tree for both habitat and food. In fact, they seldom leave these trees. When not sleeping, they're usually eating. They can eat more than a pound of eucalyptus leaves a day. Eucalyptus is poisonous, so the koala's digestive (消化的)system has to work hard to digest it, breaking down the poisons and taking in the limited nutrients (营养).That's why koalas sleep for 18 to 22 hours a day — they get very little energy from their diet.
Koala numbers decreased in the late 19th and early 20th century from hunting for their fur. Now they face serious threats from habitat loss. Land clearing and bush fires-especially the 2019-2020 Australia Bushfire Season-have destroyed much of the forest they live in. Koalas are easy to be affected by climate change. Increasing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is decreasing the nutritional quality of eucalyptus leaves and causing longer, more serious droughts and wildfires. In response to drought, koalas arc forced to stop sleeping and come down from the trees to find water, putting them at a higher risk of being killed.
Koalas have been identified by the Australian government as one of the 113 animals requiring urgent (紧急的)help. Ensuring there's the right kind of forest for them to return to is extremely urgent. State governments should create new koala reserves and persuade landowners not to cut down eucalyptus trees. Meanwhile, getting the public to understand koalas' living habits and their health will throw light on koala biology, which helps to develop plans to better protect the species.

Dogs are often referred to as “man’s best friend”. But MacKenzie, a four-pound chihuahua, who was named winner of the 2020 American Hero Dog Competition on October 19, 2020, is making the world a better place for humans and animals alike.
In its tenth year in 2020, the annual contest is the brainchild of American Humane Association, the country’s first national charitable organization founded for the safety and well-being of animals. Often called the “Oscars for dogs”, the award recognizes dogs who make extremely great contributions (贡献) to society.
The competition of 2020 attracted over 400 entries from across the country. These heroic dogs have gone above the call of duty, saving lives, comforting the ill and aged and reminding us of the powerful, age-old ties between animals and people. While all were impressive, it was tiny MacKenzie who won the judges’ hearts.
MacKenzie’s path to stardom was not easy. Born with a mouth disability, she had to be fed through a tube (管子) for the first year of her life. Despite her own struggles, she always seemed to think more of other animals in need. “Never have I seen such a will to live. Though sick, she carefully looked after the baby animals at the rescue (救助) center,” said her caretaker.
A life-saving operation performed in 2014 gave MacKenzie the ability to eat independently. The seven-year-old chihuahua is now working for the Mia Foundations New York-based charitable organization that rescues and nurses animals with inborn disabilities. The chihuahua does an excellent job and has raised various animals. She plays nurse, cleans, comforts and hugs them, acting as their mother and teaching them how to socialize, play and have good manners.
In addition to her role as an animal caretaker, MacKenzie also visits schools to educate kids about the importance of accepting physical differences in both animals and people. Her heart-warming and inspiring story makes her a worthy receiver of Americans top dog honor!

Terri Bolton is a dab hand when it comes to DIY (do-it-yourself). Skilled at putting up shelves and piecing together furniture, she never pays someone else to do a job she can do herself.
She credits these skills to her late grandfather and builder Derek Lloyd. From the age of six, Terri, now 26, accompanied Derek to work during her school holidays. A day’s work was rewarded with £5 in pocket money. She says: “I’m sure I wasn’t much of a help to start with, painting the rooms and putting down the flooring throughout the house. It took weeks and it was backbreaking work, but I know he was proud of my skills.”
Terri, who now rents a house with friends in Wandsworth, South West London, says DIY also saves her from losing any deposit when a tenancy (租期) comes to an end. She adds: “I’ve moved house many times and I always like to personalise my room and put up pictures, so, it’s been useful to know how to cover up holes and repaint a room to avoid any charges when I’ve moved out.”
With millions of people likely to take on DIY projects over that coming weeks, new research shows that more than half of people are planning to make the most of the long, warm summer days to get jobs done. The average spend per project will be around £823. Two thirds of people aim to improve their comfort while at home. Two fifths wish to increase the value of their house. Though DIY has traditionally been seen as male hobby, the research shows it is women now leading the charge.
4. Which is closest in meaning to “a dab hand” in paragraph 1?
A. An artist. B. A winner. C. A specialist. D. A pioneer.

It is/was +被强调部分+ that/who+其他部分
(1)强调句It没有词义,但不可被代替;
(2)It后的be动词只用单数形式is/was,具体用哪个看时态;
(3)被强调部分可以是主语、宾语和状语等,但不能用来强调谓语;
把“It is/was...that/who...”
I met my old friend in the street last night.
It was I that / who met my old friend in the street last night.
It was my old friend that / whom I met in the street last night.
It was in the street that I met my old friend last night.
It was last night that I met my old friend in the street.

强调句的结构为“It is/was+被强调部分+that/who+其他部分”。
It is a question that needs careful consideration.
It is novels that Miss Wang enjoys reading.
(1)it is/was和that对句子的影响
(3)that的省略
It is/ was … that …
I like you.
→ I do like you.
She likes the handsome boy.
→ She does like the handsome boy.
The boy liked his English teacher.
→ The boy did like his English teacher.

4. What’s the best title of the passage?
A. 2020: the Start of a New Age?
B. Working at Home: Are You Ready?
C. Who is the Winner: Employer or Employee?
D. Home and Working Life: How to Keep Balanced?

1. What can we learn about koalas?
A. They like moving around very much.
B. They have developed smart survival skills.
C. They can be found everywhere in Australia.
D. They often got ill while eating eucalyptus leaves.
2. What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about?
A. Koalas' newly-formed habits. B. Koalas' decreasing population.
C. The potential threats to Koalas. D. The outcomes of increased carbon dioxide.
3. What is the most important thing to do right now to protect koalas?
A. Conduct the research on their living habits.
B. Make sure they can have their habitat back.
C. Realize that they are sensitive to climate change.
D. Educate people about the awareness of protecting them.
4. From which is the text probably taken?
A. A nature magazine. B. A travel brochure.
C. A sports newspaper. D. A health magazine.

5. What can we learn about the American Hero Dog Competition?
A. It was started by a charitable organization.
B. It was meant to honor caretakers of dogs.
C. It takes place every ten years.
D. It was first held in 2012.
6. Which of the following best describes MacKenzie?
