湘少版五年级上册Unit 9 What’s your hobby? Good morning, distinguished teachers and judges, it's really my great honor to present my teaching design here. After reading this book, a brilliant picture was built in my mind, just like a compass, guiding my thoughts of teaching. Today I want to take this compass on my hand to briefly introduce my teaching ideas into two parts. The first part is the General introduction. I will talk about from the following six parts. I . Teaching Material The teaching material of choice is from Hunan Juvenile and Children's Publishing House English book 5A, Unit 9. This is the structure of Unit 9 what's your hobby? And I'm going to teach the second period of this unit. I will explain the teaching materials from three dimensions: What, Why and How. The theme of the context is human and self, which focuses on reading, focuses about hobbies. The teaching materials are the textbook materials, part C and part D. The writer's intentions is to think about why a person should have to develop good hobbies. The genres of the materials are dialogues and reading. The target languages like “What's your hobby?” “My hobby is...” , “What does he / she like?” “He/She likes...”and so on. II. Target Students The students have learnt related vocabularies and sentences from Grade Three to Grade Four. Besides, the topic of hobbies is very close to the student's daily lives, so they have enough curiosity and desire to express themselves. III. Teaching Objectives The objectives highlight the core competence and reflect discipline education philosophy. By the end of the lesson, students will be able to master the vocabulary of hobbies, and then talk about hobbies with others. They will grasp reading strategies and enhanced their group collaboration awareness. The students think quality and self awareness will be improved. IV . Teaching Focus & Difficulty I think it's important for the students to discuss and talk about hobbies by using the key words and sentences to understand and summarize the thematic meaning. They may have difficulty in expressing their own thoughts in the context. V. Teaching Approaches & Aids According to the National English Curriculum, I adopt situational approach, communicative approach and activity-based approach in my teaching. At the same time, I made use of Computer Assisted Instruction and Artificial Intelligence to draw students attention to the class. VI. Evaluation As for evaluation, I adopt the teachers evaluations, self evaluation and peer evaluation to evaluate students from all around perspectives. Now please allow me to introduce my teaching procedures. I divided my teaching procedure into five stages, and I call them 5As. At the very beginning of the lesson, I will chant with the students just like this “Hello, everyone. Listen to the beat and chat with me, hobby, hobby, what’s your hobby.” By using this chant, students will be relaxed, and it will help them to recall what they have learned in part A and B. I. Pre-reading In the pre-reading section, students will meet Tom is created by AI. I created this situation to let students talk with Tom face to face and introduce the reward system. By talking with the AI Tom, students’ curiosity and interest in reading will be stimulated. We will play a guessing game based on the picture of party, students are required to answer the following 2 questions under the guidance of Tip 1. This will help them to perceive the text better and cultivate their reasoning and thinking abilities. II. While-reading We will come to the While-reading part. In this part, students are required to finish two tasks. In task 1, students will watch the video of the text. And then finish the True or False questions. This will help them to understand the text exactly and extract the key points. It will also improve student's logical reasoning skills. In task 2, students should read the text carefully and find the key words and sentences to finish the table. This task will help students grasp the reading strategies, and it will help them expand their thinking. III. Post-reading When we come to the Post-reading part, I will ask the Ss to do a survery. The Ss are supposed to finish this part through 3 steps, they are: Ask and find information, Collect data study and think, Write a report and show to the class. This part is desinged to make the students learn through experience, apply in practice, and innovate through transfer. In order to broaden students' horizons and achieve emotional goals, I created a picture book “Hobby” by using AI technology. IV. Summary Finally, we summarize the text information by drawing a 5-petal flower. Each petal explain the true meaning of each letter of HOBBY cleverly. This 5-petal flower also answers the question: “Why do we need to develop hobbies?”. This part help the Ss sort out the text content, summarize and generalize the text information. As for the blackboard desing, I designed it as the picture shows. This design is to make knowledge visualized and the Ss will get comprehensive information instead of scattered facts. V. Homework In the end, I designed the homework into 3 levels: For every one, For group and For interest. In order to let the Ss understand the homework better, I also showed an example for each level. These homework will help them to consolidate what they have learned in class, and will stimulate students’ creativity and interest in related topics and cultivate their group cooperation. VI. reflection After class, I made a summary and reflection. I was deeply aware of my advantages and disadvantages in the teaching process: 1.The situational creation is effective. Especially the creation of the AI Tom. 2.The guidance on reading skills is proper. Most students are able to effectively utilize these skills to complete reading tasks. 3.The language output activities are rich. The group activities designed after reading are reasonable, giving students the opportunity to apply the vocabulary and sentence patterns they have learned to practical communication. However, there are some disadvantages too. More attention to individual differences among students needs to be given and The depth and width of classroom interaction need to be improved.
