Ask students to read the the whole passage quickly then choose the proper title for the passage. ✱Pay attention to the topic sentences. Task 2: Read and complete 1.Ask students to read the timeline to know the missing part of each part. 2.Ask students to read the passage carefully to find the key information for the timeline based on the understanding of the passage. 3.Let students check answers in groups and then with the whole class. Task 3: Choose and talk Ask students to choose the key reasons why Xu Xiake was successful and state their reasons. ✱underline the supporting sentences. Task 4 Discussion: What have learned from Xu Xiake? Task 5. Read and match. Ask students to match the information of Marc Polo with the questions based on the life introduction of Xu Xiake. 1.Read (skim) the passage fast to get the main idea and the best title. Topic sentences: Xu spent over 30 years traveling throughout the country.... 2.Read the passage carefully again to fill the timeline of Xu Xiake’s life.
