第一节 (满分15分)
Dear classmates,
I’m greatly honoured to make a short speech today. Recently I have found that many classmates study late into the night. As a result, they often cannot help falling asleep in class during the day. And some classmates even develop a bad eating habit, which will surely do harm to their health.
As is known to all, it’s extremely important for us students to have enough sleep and a proper diet. We must make wise use of our time, and develop a good eating habit. Only in this way can we keep fit and study well. I hope you will develop a great learning habits and make great progress in your study.
Thank you for listening!
第二节 (满分25分)
Paragraph 1:
The next day witnessed Philip getting down to work. With a heavy heart, he wrote an article about the terrible condition of the park and the unfortunate incident involving Robin. Pouring his heart into the words, he appealed to the community to help restore the old park. Never before had he felt that words could be so powerful. Later that day, Philip handed the article to Mrs. Ford, who appreciated his deep concern for the park and managed to put the article on local news.
Paragraph 2:
As the article spread, offers of help poured in. People went out of their way to donate materials and help fix the broken facilities. Philip’s classmates were impressed by the changes taking place in the park, astonished that his effort could make such a significant difference. Once labeled a "nerd", Philip was now admired as a source of inspiration. Seeing the old park transformed into an inviting place, Philip was glad he hadn’t quit writing. It turned out that writing could be put to practical use.

W: I'm not sure. He's been skateboarding since he was 5 years old.
M: I see. If he already had a skateboard, how about something a bit different? Does he like swimming?
W: He loves it, but he's always out with his friends, so he never gets to swim that much. It's a shame because our home is only 5 minutes from the beach.
M: How about getting him a surfboard? If he's keen on skateboarding, he's going to love surfing.
W: What a great idea. He's never done it before, but I think it's perfect. However, I'm thinking this may get a bit expensive if he needs a swimming suit, too.
M: It's your lucky day because we are doing a deal at the moment. If you buy a surfboard, the swimming suit comes free.
W: Excellent. My brother is going to love this.

Over the summer, I had to get the main bedroom of my house rebuilt. Last week, I organized for a building examination for 11 o’clock on Monday. Well, at 10:55, I was still in the shower. I had forgotten all about it! When the examiner knocked on the door, I rushed out of the shower. However, I hadn’t taken the time to upgrade all the paperwork. I was totally unprepared — not to mention completely embarrassed! By 11:05, the examiner had left. He couldn’t wait around for me to get ready as he was scheduled for another job somewhere else. I made him angry by wasting his time. Unfortunately, I had to book another appointment — and I had to pay twice!
The point I am trying to make is, please, whatever you do in life, always be prepared!

That summer, I had my first selection test and later, the name list of the qualified candidates was posted on a noticeboard in the hallway. The other students ran to the wall and searched for their names on the list. Then, some screamed in excitement while some slicked away angrily.
Following the success of my audition, I was placed in the orchestra and I was in the middle of the violin section. However, I was too short to see the conductor as I was blocked by Gordon, an eleven-year-old boy in front of me. The conductor told him to switch seats with me.
In the orchestra, if you were seated in the front near the conductor, you had to be excellent. I understood the gravity of the seating arrangement. On hearing the conductor’s words, Gordon looked stricken. “Everyone will think she did better than me in the audition!” he burst. During the break, Gordon told me that we would both perform in front of the group. Whoever played it better would win. Returning to class, Gordon brought up his idea to the conductor at once. The conductor agreed and the challenge was scheduled for the following day.
After class, I told my father about the challenge. I waited for him to tell me that he would not let any boy pick on me. Instead, he grabbed a music stand and told me to start practising.
For fifteen minutes, my father kept barking orders. “Faster!” “Posture!” “Watch your rhythm!” Then, he said, “OK. Just play like that. May the best man win.” I gave my father a wink, feeling optimistic about the challenge.
Maybe I should have expected as much. When we played chess, my father always won. He said if he had eased up and let me win, that would be cheating. It was the first lesson I remembered from my father: Work hard and do not be afraid of losing. If you do lose, pick yourself up and you’ll succeed some day.
24.Why did some students slick away angrily?
A.They were too short to be qualified. B.They did not pass the selection test.

26.What can we infer about the seats in the orchestra?
A.They are decided by the age of performers.
B.They actually depend on the height of performers.
C.They can be flexibly switched in different performances.
D.They are arranged according to the importance of performers.
27.What lesson did the author learn from his father?

Chinese hit video game Black Myth: Wukong has taken the gaming world by storm, selling more than 10 million copies across all platforms in just three days after its release.
The game is inspired by the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. In it, players take the role of the Destined One, setting off for adventures to collect six Relics that once belonged to Sun Wukong and challenge the Celestial Court.
Drawing on a rich heritage of nearly 1,000 years of Chinese culture, the game’s storyline and characters have proven difficult to understand for many players from western countries. For instance, a player shared on social media that their lack of familiarity with Journey to the West led to them consistently missing hidden treasures, finally resulting in repeated failures during a boss fight in Chapter 2. Meanwhile, some players feel overwhelmed by names like Erlang Shen and Lingxuzi, which can be difficult to pronounce for those unfamiliar with Chinese phonetics.
To bridge these cultural divides, one enthusiast wrote a 200-page outline detailing Sun Wukong’s abilities across all 100 chapters of Journey to the West. Many others immersed themselves in the epic by checking out forums, TV shows, anime, manga and online encyclopedias.
Through this process, western players have not only refined their gaming skills but also developed a deeper appreciation for Sun Wukong and Journey to the West.
“Although many people might compare Sun Wukong to Western superheroes, I believe they are different,” said Patrick from the US. “Sun Wukong has a carefree and independent nature, unlimited by the need to set a good example for others like Spider-Man, who by contrast follows principles like ‘with great power comes great responsibility’.”
Journey to the West offers a comprehensive narrative that covers a very dangerous journey, numerous encounters and the exploration of various cultures, making it a rich source for diverse storytelling types and cultural backgrounds.
Perhaps these are some of the key reasons why Journey to the West has been translated into over a dozen languages, with more than 60 versions available worldwide.
28.What is the Destined One in Paragraph 2?
A.The nickname of Sun Wukong in the game. B.The fictional main character of this hit game.
C.One of the adventures to collect the six Relics. D.One of the six Relics belonging to the Celestial Court.
29.What does the underlined word “bridge” in paragraph 4 most likely mean?
A.Get rid of. B.Take control of. C.Keep track of D.Take advantage of.
30.What can be learned about the game from the passage?
A.It has gradually gained popularity among players worldwide.
B.Its original character Sun Wukong is similar to western superheroes.
C.It has been translated into many languages with numerous versions available worldwide.
D.It is rather challenging for western players due to their unfamiliarity with Chinese culture.
31.What does the text mainly talk about?
A.A Chinese hit video game and its original novel Journey to the West.
B.Reasons behind the success of Chinese video game Black Myth: Wukong.
C.The cultural impact and western players’ reception of a Chinese hit video game.
D.Challenges and benefits Black Myth: Wukong brings to the spread of Chinese culture.

A Swiss green tech company has begun industrial-scale production of solar fuels, which have the potential to create sustainable, carbon-neutral (碳中和的) fuel to power long-distance flights.
Electrification is often advertised as the alternative to fossil fuels, but there are currently some areas such as marine and aviation (航空) transportation where that hasn’t been possible. Those sectors are difficult to decarbonize because they require denser fuels. Solar fuels, liquid fuels created by using the power of the sun, can “drop in” to existing technology and function just as existing fuels do. They could pack a lot of power into a little space, making them ideal for shipping or long flights.
Plus, shipping and aviation account for as much as eight percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. What the company aims to do, according to Furler, CEO of the company, is to reverse the burning process. “We take water and carbon dioxide they emit, and get them into a synthetic (合成的) fuel, thereby closing the carbon cycle,” said Furler.
While that sounds suspicious, it’s rooted in sound science. The first step is to capture carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere. Unfortunately, because carbon dioxide constitutes a mere 0.04 percent of all atmospheric gases, concentrating it on an industrial scale is an immense challenge. So the company is focusing on using biomass and specifically agricultural waste products. Mirrors then focus sunlight on a “receiver” atop the tower, generating steam that combines with the biomass and water that are fed into a reactor in the tower. This drives a chemical reaction that creates a synthesized gas of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, which is then liquefied by a further series of chemical reactions into liquid hydrocarbons (烃).
Some carbon will still be emitted, though, it’s a significant reduction of 85 to 90 percent but compared to traditional fuel. While the new facility advances commercial solar fuel production, it will still take decades to efficiently manufacture enough solar fuel to replace fossil fuels.
32.Why do solar fuels have an advantage over electric energy?
A.They have a greater energy density. B.They provide stronger power.
C.They exist in more than liquid form. D.They are better at reducing carbon emissions.
33.What does the underlined word “reverse” in paragraph 3 mean?
A.Speed up. B.Turn around. C.Shorten. D.Simplify.
34.How does the approach get the carbon needed for solar fuels now?
A.By removing from waste. B.By making with chemicals.
C.By collecting directly from the air. D.By obtaining from biological material.
35.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.The mirror turns sunlight directly into fuels.
B.The process removes carbon emissions completely.
C.Solar fuels can not completely replace fossil fuels now.
D.Solar fuels reduce the use of conventional fuels by 90%.
【参考答案】32.A 33.B 34.D 35.C
根据第二段“Those sectors are difficult to decarbonize because they require denser fuels. Solar fuels, liquid fuels created by using the power of the sun, can “drop in” to existing technology and function just as existing fuels do. They could pack a lot of power into a little space, making them ideal for shipping or long flights.(这些行业很难脱碳,因为它们需要更密集的燃料。太阳能燃料是一种利用太阳能产生的液体燃料,它可以“融入”现有的技术,并像现有的燃料一样发挥作用。它们可以在很小的空间内容纳大量的能量,使它们成为运输或长途飞行的理想选择)”可知,太阳能燃料比电能有优势是因为它们有更大的能量密度。故选A。
33.词句猜测题。根据第三段“We take water and carbon dioxide they emit, and get them into a synthetic (合成的) fuel, thereby closing the carbon cycle(我们把它们排放的水和二氧化碳转化为合成燃料,从而关闭碳循环)”可知,该公司回收海运和航空运输中排放的水和二氧化碳,并将这些物质重新转化为合成燃料,从而闭合碳循环,说明其目标是逆转燃烧过程。故reverse的词义为“颠倒”。故选B。
34.细节理解题。根据第四段“Unfortunately, because carbon dioxide constitutes a mere 0.04 percent of all atmospheric gases, concentrating it on an industrial scale is an immense challenge. So the company is focusing on using biomass and specifically agricultural waste products.(不幸的是,由于二氧化碳只占大气中所有气体的0.04%,将其集中在工业规模上是一项巨大的挑战。因此,该公司专注于利用生物质能,特别是农业废弃物)”可知,目前是从生物材料中获得太阳能燃料所需的碳。故选D。
35.推理判断题。根据最后一段“While the new facility advances commercial solar fuel production, it will still take decades to efficiently manufacture enough solar fuel to replace fossil fuels.(虽然新工厂推动了商业太阳能燃料的生产,但要有效地生产足够的太阳能燃料来取代化石燃料,还需要几十年的时间)”可知,现在太阳能燃料还不能完全取代化石燃料。故选C。

故填which。
63.考查非谓语动词。句意:它于2021年12月投入使用,帮助老挝成为东南亚交通便利的国家。“(help) Laos become a country with easy transport in Southeast Asia”作结果状语,help是非谓语动词,与其逻辑主语 It(即the China-Laos Railway)之间是主动关系,用现在分词表主动。故填helping。

阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Philip found himself at a crossroads. Although Mrs. Ford, his head teacher, appreciated his stories, the label of “nerd” (呆子) from his classmates cast a shadow over his passion for writing. Discouraged and feeling that his writing served no purpose in the eyes of others, he thought about giving it up.
One day, during recess (课间), as Philip was absentmindedly taking down some random events of the day, he heard an anxious voice calling out for help. He put down his pen, glanced out the window, and saw a gathering of people near the playground fence. With concern, he walked over and joined the crowd.
In the centre of the crowd was Robin, a sporty boy in the class, who was injured on the knee and bleeding heavily. Robin was playing kickball when the ball unexpectedly shot over the playground fence, landing in the old park next to the school. As he ran to get the ball, he tripped over the overgrown weeds, his left knee crashing into a broken bench. Robin’s face paled, perhaps from both pain of the bleeding knee and his panic. Concerned classmates surrounded him, and Mrs. Ford hurried to the scene, providing some initial care before sending him to see the doctor.
Amidst the lively discussion of the crowd, Philip absorbed the information that the park had been abandoned for ages. Turning his attention to the park, he was astonished at its awful state. Overrun with weeds, broken benches, rusty sports facilities, and scattered rubbish, the park was practically a dangerous place for students.
Philip was probably a nerd when involved in reading or writing, but he was never ignorant of the world around him. He felt a strong desire to do something, and the only way he could think of was to pick up his pen.

【参考答案】
The next day witnessed Philip getting down to work. With a heavy heart, he wrote an article about the terrible condition of the park and the unfortunate incident involving Robin. Pouring his heart into the words, he appealed to the community to help restore the old park. Never before had he felt that words could be so powerful. Later that day, Philip handed the article to Mrs. Ford, who appreciated his deep concern for the park and managed to put the article on local news.

C.They were laughed at for their failure. D.They hated the other students’ scream.
25.What does the underlined word “audition” mean in Paragraph 2?
A.A trial performance. B.A close match.
C.A serious dialogue. D.A careful choice.
26.What can we infer about the seats in the orchestra?
A.They are decided by the age of performers.
B.They actually depend on the height of performers.
C.They can be flexibly switched in different performances.
D.They are arranged according to the importance of performers.
27.What lesson did the author learn from his father?
A.It’s never too old to learn. B.Great minds think the same.
C.Failure is the mother of success. D.Every cloud has a silver lining.

Test anxiety exists and is a common problem among students. 36 . When you’re stressed and anxious during an exam, your mind has a tendency to go completely blank. Here are some tips on how to reduce or overcome test anxiety.
Get to know the material
First, you need to know the topic of the exam. 37 . Knowing as much as possible about the material can get you ready for the test. As to any exam, learn your material thoroughly. Memorize what needs to be memorized and understand what needs to be understood.
Slow down and calm yourself
38 . So when the test starts, rather than immediately jumping to answer the questions, relax first to get your mind to work. Wait for the class to settle down before you start answering. Saying a few words of encouragement and conscious breathing can help you calm yourself down.
39
If you have an hour for an exam, try to consume every second of that hour in answering the best possible choice. There are no rewards for finishing first!
Silence unwanted pressures
Believe it or not, chances are that other students can be a source of major anxiety during the test. Seeing them cramming (恶补), telling you what you need to remember and what might show up in the exam will affect your preparation. Get past through the negative and unwanted thoughts and remind yourself of how well you know about the topic. Avoid speaking with any fellow classmates who are not prepared and who express negativity. 40 .
A.Dare to be the first
B.Budget and consume your time
C.A sound sleep may help you ease the test anxiety
D.They might destroy all that you have prepared for
E.Anyone taking an exam experiences some level of anxiety
F.Rushing through a test can make you read the questions and choices incorrectly
G.Also, find out how many questions there would be on the test and the required time for it
