Have students review the information about Millie and her hobby in Unit 1. 2. Have students look at the picture and tell what Millie is doing. Step 2 Reading 1. Have students look at the two pictures and tell what are in the pictures. 2. Have students read an introduction to the school library and answer the questions. (1) What can students at Sunshine Middle School do in the library? (2) What should we do to keep the library a perfect place? (3) Is there a library or a reading room at your school? What do you like about it? Step 3 Listening, reading and practising 1. Have students read the table and get some information to help fill in the blanks. 2. Have students listen to the recording about some places at Sunshine Middle School, fill in the blanks and tell which of the 3 places they like best and give the reasons. 3. Have students listen to Millie and Daniel’s conversation about their new school, and find the specific information to fill in the table. 4. Have students read the conversation and find some useful expressions to talk about their new school. 5. Have students work in pairs and use these expressions to talk about their school. Step 4 Pre-writing 1. Have students answer the following question. If you want to know about your friend’s new school, what questions will you ask? 2. Have students show the questions and learn how to change notes into an article. (1) Match the question(s) with each paragraph in Liu Yi’s email. (2) Find the answer in the email to each question, extract the sentence structure and give more expressions. 3. Have students learn how to organize the structure of an email. (1) Find greeting, introduction of the topic and main body in the email. (2) Find subject, opening and closing of an email and give more ways to begin/endan email. (3) Tell more ways of greeting. 4. Have students answer the questions in Part D1 with the information about their school. 5. Have students analyze how to write an email to introduce their new school from the following 3 aspects: structure, content and language. Step 5 Writing Have students write an email to introduce their new school according to the structure chart. Step 6 Self-checking Have students check their writing according to the self-assessment chart. Step 7 Summary Have students summarize what they have learnt in this lesson. Step 8 Homework Compulsory homework: 1. Finish the exercises on the worksheet. 2. Share your article with your group members and try to check and evaluate others’.
