教学目标
By the end of the class, students will be able to
1. talk about their favorite free time activities;
2. know what No. 5 Middle School students do in their free time;
3. make a survey about what free time activities their friends do and how often they do them.
教学重难点
教学重点:
1. To lead students to understand the article from different aspects.
2. To teach students how to make a survey, and make a pie chart according to the result.
教学难点:
1. How to lead them to better understand the article and get information of different levels.
2. How to make a survey and a pie chart.
教学过程
Step 1 Before-reading
1) lead-in
· Review what they learnt in the previous class.
· Identify different free time activities according to the pictures.
· Rank the activities according to how often students do them.
2) prediction
Read the title and the first paragraph, and predict the genre & the content of the article.
Step 2 While-reading
1) Skim the article and match each part with their main ideas.
2) Read Part 2 and complete the pie charts.
3) Read Part 2 again and answer questions of different levels.
4) Make a little report about Part 2.
5) Read Part 3 and answer these questions.
What does the writer think is the best way to relax? Why?
Do you think the students at No. 5 Middle School are healthy? Why or why not?
Step 3 Post-Reading
Watch a video about how to make a survey. Choose one of these free time activities and ask classmates around how often they do this activity.
