The comprehensive homework of writing about a popular sport in China encourages students to apply what they have learned and explore other sports cultures, further enhancing their writing and thinking skills.
Blackboard design
The blackboard design illustrating the structure of the text is highly beneficial. It allows students to visually grasp how the text is organized, such as the division of paragraphs and the relationship between different parts. This helps them understand the logical flow and progression of ideas in the article. By seeing the structure presented in a diagrammatic form, students can better follow the author's train of thought and analyze how the various elements of the text work together to convey the overall message. This visual representation of the text structure also aids in improving students' reading comprehension skills and their ability to write well-structured texts in the future.
Reflection
1. Successes
The lead-in with the football video was very effective in attracting students' attention and generating interest in the topic. Students actively participated in sharing their feelings about football, which set a good foundation for the following learning.
The combination of different reading strategies in the while-reading part helped students gradually understand the text from the surface to the deep level. They were able to master the reading skills and complete the reading tasks with relatively high accuracy.
The post-reading discussion was lively, and students showed great enthusiasm in expressing their views on football and other sports. It not only enhanced their language communication ability but also promoted their critical thinking and cultural awareness.
2. Deficiencies
In the pre-reading prediction part, some students had difficulties in making accurate predictions. Maybe more guidance and hints could be provided in the future to help them better develop this ability.
During the intensive reading, when answering some complex questions, a few students still had problems in understanding and expressing. More time could be spent on guiding these students and providing more detailed explanations.
In the group discussion, the participation of some students was not very active. In the future, it is necessary to encourage these students to participate more actively and ensure that every student can get enough opportunities to express themselves.
3. Improvements
In the future teaching, more practice and guidance on prediction skills can be added before reading, such as providing more similar texts for students to practice predicting.
For students with difficulties in intensive reading, additional individual tutoring or small group discussions can be arranged to help them overcome difficulties and improve their understanding and expression abilities.
In group activities, adopt different grouping methods and incentive mechanisms to encourage every student to actively participate and improve the overall learning effect.
