Stephen Hawking, an English theoretical physicist, is called "the King of the Universe".
Stephen Hawking was born in England on January 8, 1942. He began to show talent for scientific subjects when he studied in secondary school. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease(运动神经元疾病)in 1963.Hawking became so seriously ill that he had difficulty walking unsupported, and his speech was almost unable to understand. Hawking ever fell into a depression.Later, with his teacher Dennis Sciama's encouragement, he returned to work. He had a wheelchair with a special computer, with which he could talk with others. Hawking said, "Although I cannot move and I have to speak through a computer, in my mind I am free."
Hawking tried to communicate his ideas with the whole world through popular speeches. From 1985 to 2006, Hawking was invited to give speeches in China, He said, "Life is not fair, you just have to do the best you can in your own situation." He encouraged the disabled to make a difference and hoped more Chinese young people devote themselves to scientific research. He also said that life would be tragic if it weren't funny. His self-confidence and humour impressed everyone deeply.
Hawking died at his home in Cambridge on March 14, 2018.
