On June 12th, 2024, the event of the “Bridge of the Future” China-US Youth Exchange Program was held in Beijing. A group of high school students from the US visited the Forbidden City. As their first step on the tour in Beijing, the city brought them great fun and surprises.
The Forbidden City lies in the center of Beijing, China. In 1406, the Yongle Emperor of the Ming Dynasty began to build the city and it was completed in 1420. Within the city, all the most important buildings were designed along the main axis (轴), facing south.
Among the most famous building are the Wu Gate, the Hall of Supreme Harmony (Taihedian) and the Imperial Garden (Yuhuayuan). The Wu Gate is the southern entrance (入口) to the Forbidden City. Behind the Wu Gate lies a large yard. The Inner Golden River runs through it. The river is crossed by five white marble (大理石) bridges, which lead to the Gate of Supreme Harmony (Taihemen).
North of the Gate of Supreme Harmony lies the Outer Court, the heart of the Forbidden City. There, the three main halls stand on a high terrace (平台) overlooking a large square. There, you can see the Hall of Supreme Harmony, which is the largest building in the city as well as one of the tallest. To the north stand the Hall of Central Harmony (Zhonghedian) and the Hall of Preserving Harmony (Baohedian).
Further north is the Inner Court, where the emperor lived. In the most northern part of the Forbidden City is a garden, which was made as a place for the emperor to relax.

Baidu’s robotaxi (萝卜快跑) is experiencing an order increase in Wuhan, Hubei Province, which has been drawing public attention and leading to heated discussions. Robotaxis are driverless taxis, which makes travel easier and more comfortable. People can book robotaxis at any time through the Baidu apps. Taking a robotaxi is cheaper than a traditional one. The vehicle is clean and smart, allowing passengers to choose their preferred music freely. “With no driver in the car, I can avoid communicating with others, making it easier to rest,” a local rider in Wuhan told the Global Times.
A report from Baidu showed that there are 300 driverless taxis in Wuhan. In the first three months of 2024, orders for driverless taxis in Wuhan reached half of all ride-hailing (打车) services. It increased to 70 percent in April, with expectations of keeping rapid growth ahead. In fact, the service has been introduced to many cities in China. As for now, Baidu has started tests the service in 11 cities, including Beijing, Wuhan, Chongqing, Shenzhen and Shanghai.
However, not everyone prefers the new way of ride-hailing. Robotaxis also have some drawbacks. “The waiting time is long, taking 8-10 minutes from order to arrival, and the driving speed is slow, not a good choice for passengers in a hurry,” one rider complained. What’s more, the rising need for lower-price robotaxi worries taxi drivers.

Plastic (塑料) is truly everywhere in our daily lives. From the food we eat to the air we breathe, tiny particles (颗粒) of plastic—also known as “micro plastics”—can be found in almost anything.
Plastic does not only cause real disaster on our oceans and take centuries to break down, causing even more of an environmental problem, but also hurts us humans. Scientists have questioned whether eating micro plastics can negatively affect human health, especially if there are pieces of plastıc you’ re using in daily life, like the plastic cutting board.
A recent study checked the amount of micro plastics found in the carrots cut on two different types of plastic cutting boards. At the end of the study, scientists found these plastic cutting boards resulted in 1,114 micro plastic particles (pieces of plastic less than 5 millimeters long) on the carrots each time the board was used. This means a plastic cutting board could make 15 milligrams of micro plastics per cut, and around 50 grams a year— it’s the weight of 10 plastic credit cards.
▲ Evidence suggests that micro plastics can be found in our blood and our bodies, and can be potentially harmful to our physical health. But Dr. LeBeau, the leader of the study, points out that the study does prove the producing of micro plastic particles, but does not prove the cutting boards can have the negative influence to human health. He said, “In fact, we’re already consuming (消耗) so many micro plastics throughout our day( like in our food we eat from production or even sometimes in our water), that the micro plastics from cutting boards won’t make a huge difference. So we don’t need to worry about it too much.”
Dr. Lebeau also brings up weighing the pros and cons (利弊) of using other types of cutting boards. Using a wood cutting board may seem cleaner and safer, but these products may not be completely disinfected (消毒) and it may increase the risk of food-borne illness. “If you would like to avoid both altogether, I suggest replacing your plastic and wood cutting boards with ones that are made from bamboo. Just be sure to clean it as completely as possible.” He said.
21.What can we learn about micro plastics according to paragraph 1 and 2?
A.They are only found in the food we eat and the air we breathe.
B.They are tiny particles of plastic which may cause a health risk.
C.They break down quickly and will cause few environmental problems.
D.They are mainly found in oceans and have no influence on human health.
22.How does the writer talk about the result of the study in paragraph 3?
A.By giving advice. B.By listing numbers.
C.By telling stories. D.By asking questions.
23.Which of the following sentences can be put in ▲ in paragraph 4?
A.With so many micro plastics in our food, should we be worried?
B.To solve the problems with micro plastics, what else can we do?
C.So many micro plastics are found on carrots, but what about other vegetables?
D.Since micro plastics are so common, how can we avoid them in our daily life?
24.What may Dr. Lebeau suggest according to his words?
A.Micro plastics have great influence on humans.
B.Micro plastics will bring more problems in our life.
C.Wood cutting boards are not as clean as the plastic ones.
D.Safety is the key point people think about while using cutting boards.
25.What is the text mainly about?

结合提示词和“When riding a shared bike on the street, you might hear someone...Chinese aloud.”
结合提示词和“...the local tastes, Chinese restaurants have made some changes to dishes.” 故填To meet。
分析“They’re not only made in China...also designed and developed in the country.”可知,本题考查短语not only...but also...“不仅……而且……”。故填but。
分析“In...past”可知,此处考查短语in the past“在过去”。故填the。
分析“Chinese things were regarded as something cheap but low in quality...most western people”可知,此处使用了被动语态,空后的most western people是动作的发出者,其前应用介词by。故填by。
故填its。

Firstly, to keep physically healthy, you’d better have a balanced diet, do lots of exercise and have enough sleep every day. Secondly, you should listen carefully to teachers and finish your homework on time. Also, whenever you have any problem in your study, you can ask your teachers for help.
