Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. 2 What kind of threat is it facing? The reef is threatened by human activities. Industry along the coast pollutes its waters; illegal fishing is reducing the number of fish; climate change caused by human activities leads to rising temperatures, which bleach /bli:tʃ/ the coral.
