教学设计
一、The philosophies of teaching design 教学设计理念
本节课根据课标提出的六要素整合的英语学习活动观念,关注学生学习参与
的实际获得,创设与主题意义密切相关的语境,引导学生对文本主题意义的探究。
依据英语学科能力素养及表现指征框架进行学习理解类、应用实践类和迁移创新
类活动过程中培养学生语言理解和表达能力,推动学生对主题意义的深度学习,
构建新知,发展思维。在解决问题的过程中辨别真善美,达到学科育人,落实对
学生学科素养的培育。
二、The analysis of teaching materials 教学内容分析
本节课为本单元的第三课时 Reading and thinking,该板块的阅读文本是一篇人物小传,是“人与社会、人与自我”之“道德与美德”主题语境下道德典范(大人物林巧稚)一生中所做出的道德选择。文章按照时间顺序叙述了林巧稚的一生,其中着重描写了她曾面临的人生抉择,例如:是遵循中国传统的观念结婚成家,还是不顾学费高昂去追求自己的医学梦?是留在条件优厚,前景美好的异国发展,还是回到苦难深重的祖国为之效力?是选择拥有自己的小家庭,还是为了中国无数的家庭而坚持不懈地工作,而林巧稚所做出的抉择无不反映了她坚定的信念、美好的心灵、高度的职业责任感和奉献精神。引导学生识别人物传记题材的特征和语言特点,引导学生根据文章所提供的细节信息对人物的个性和品格做出合理的推断和概括,鼓励学生反思自我,针对人生抉择发表自己的看法。
四、Teaching aims 教学目标
By the end of the class, students will be able to:
1. Know the main structure and identify the language characteristics of a biography;
2. Figure out the character’s life principle and qualities;
3. Learn to make your own choice in life.
五、Teaching important and difficult points 教学重难点
1.Guide students to get the main structure and the language features of a biography;
2.Guide students to figure out the character’s characteristics and qualities according to
the detailed information.
3. Encourage students to reflect on themselves and express their own ideas about their
life choices.
六、Teaching procedures 教学过程
Before the class
The activity: To enjoy the song God is a Girl (a video about Lin Qiaozhi’s life)
The purpose: To make the students relaxed and ready for the class
Step1. Lead in
Activity 1: To think about the important choices they have made;
Activity 2: To guess who she is ( the main character Lin Qiaozhi )
The purpose: To guide the students to realize the importance of choices in our life and lead to the great woman--Lin Qiaozhi and her life choices.
Step 2. Prediction
The activity: To predict the meaning of the title according to the pictures and what they’ve learned and spark the students to think about the real meaning.
The purpose: To motivate the students’ interest to explore more about the main
character Dr. Lin.
Step 3. Read for the basic information
The activity: To read the text quickly to find out the general information about it.
The purpose: To enable the students to get the main idea of the text and the whole
structure of a biography through skimming and scanning.
Step 4. Read for the detailed information
Activity 1: To have a general knowledge about the life of Dr. Lin through finding out
all the time words and events happened to her.
The purpose: To have a better understanding about Dr. Lin and be well ready for
learning about the hard choices in her lifetime
Activity 2: To read the text carefully and know about the dilemmas she was faced
with and the choices she made in her lifetime.
The purpose: To understand Dr Lin better through combining her living era
background with each dilemma she faced and choice she made
Step 5. Thinking about the principle
The activity: To get the principle by reviewing each dilemma she faced and choice
she made, focusing on the key words of her choices and referring to Dr. Lin’s own
words in paragraph 1
The purpose: To enable the students to understand about Dr. Lin more deeply and
get them prepared for summarizing the qualities of Dr. Lin.
Step 6. Thinking about the qualities of Dr. Lin
The activity: To think and discuss about what kind of person Dr. Lin was and to
present their opinions referring to the expressions and words offered to them.
The purpose: To practice the students’ abilities to express their own opinions using
the language they’ve just learned and to improve their abilities to think critically. To
involve each student in the discussion in this part by offering the useful expressions
and words to them.
Step 7. Critical Thinking and drawing the conclusion
Activity 1: To think about whether Dr. Lin would regret making so much sacrifice for
others and come to the conclusion; to know the real meaning of morals and virtues
through learning from Dr. Lin and the backbones of China.
The purpose: To let the students think the question further, learn from great figures
and people around them.
Activity 2: To guide the students to think about and show them how to make their
own choices without regret.
The purpose: To educate the students about how to be a useful person for our
country and people and form their right opinions about life, value and the world.

教学反思
在本次大单元主题整体意义教学案例实践中,本节阅读新授课 Mother of Ten Thousand Babies 在大单元主题教学背景下整体完成度较高。本课例以“Time-Choice-Quality”为主线,学生围绕“提出疑问—预测主题—梳理结构—探究细节—完善导图—迁移应用—深化主题—巩固强化”八个方面展开学习和探索。通过“individual-group-share”讨论模式了解 Dr. Lin 一生之中的四次艰难抉择以及其反射出来的道德规范和美好品质。在教学实施中,有意识为学生扫清单词、句型障碍,为学生进行有效的历史背景知识的补充或引导思考,不断为学生搭桥铺路,让学生能顺理成章得得出结论,深化理解和升华自身认知。但课堂之后,也引发了我的以下几点反思:
一、大单元主题整体意义教学更加符合学生的认知规律,以往各课型各阶段之间
各自为政的课堂模式应该摈弃,更加主动更加积极地去探索单元语篇大观念、语言
大观念、主题大观念,并最终实现单元大观念。
二、要更加关注到班级内学生的差异性,尽量做到因材施教,活动以及作业任务
应分层设置,确保不同基础水平的学生在课堂上都能有所收获。活动也应该更加多
样化,增加学生自主探究之后的小组探究活动,提升他们通过合作探究、互帮互补
自己解决问题的能力。
三、教师课堂指令语过于复杂,应精简,提高课堂效率,为学生预留更多表达自
我的时间和空间,将课堂真正还给学生。
四、学生在自我表达环节输出内容较为浅薄,词汇迁移的能力略差。老师应给予
学生更多的辅助指导,从而不断提升他们的英语语言输出能力和自我思维的深度,
从而达到对学生核心素养的提升和德育目标渗透的最优化。
总之,通过本次的大单元整体教学实践,我深刻地认识到只有不断学习、探索、
沟通、思考,做出改进,才可以实现个人的更快进步,才可以更好地满足学生的学
习需求,才可以更好促进学生的核心素养的发展与提升。在今后的教学实践中,我
会继续践行和探索大单元观念下的整体教学,不断进步,不断成长!
