Cooking is supposed to be the most basic living skill for humans. However, labor education is absent from many families. There are many kids who are used to being fed and taken care of everywhere, like “little emperors and little princesses”.
According to a study, there are 600 students in a middle school in China, and 10% of the students in the school do housework. In the study, 60% of the students never cook for their family, and 20% of the students can’t tell the differences between food materials.
Recently, the Communist Party of China Central Committee has showed the guidelines(方针) in public. The guidelines call for students to respect labor work(尊重劳动工作). Students should learn basic life skills and develop good working habits through such education.
Students will be required to understand and learn the basics of home cooking, from preparing vegetables to finally being able to complete the whole process of home cooking independently. These will be lifelong skills for kids, helping them develop into well-rounded(全面的) people instead of those who are just able to take exams.
As children’s first teachers, parents should also inspire children to do chores at home. In daily life, parents should try to let their children learn to cook, wash their own clothes and tidy their rooms. When children have difficulty doing these chores, parents should give them support and courage in time instead of stopping them from doing them.
It’s really important for students to take labor education both at school and at home.

Being a Polite Tourist
By Li Fang
Hello, everyone. I am Li Fang. Nowadays, travelling is becoming a more and more important part of our lives. Being a polite tourist becomes important, too. But some tourists have bad behaviour while visiting places of interest. Some make noise in public places. Others throw rubbish and write or draw everywhere.
As middle school students, I think we should pay attention to our behaviour while travelling. First,we should throw rubbish into the right place and not write or draw everywhere. Second, don't make noise in public places. It is not polite to do that. Above all, we should not only protect the natural environment, but also understand local traditions.
In a word, I hope everyone can be a good and polite tourist. Thank you for your listening.
