Some children cannot wait to grow up, because once you become a grown-up, you are free to make your own decisions. More importantly, you can do all those things that you cannot do now because you are too young. So, the question is,“At what age do you really become an adult?” Well, people become adults at different ages in different places.
In Australia the 18th birthday is a very important event for young Australians because it means they can do almost anything they want. They can vote(选举), learn to drive a car, get married, join the army and even buy their own houses. Even if they can do all these things, most Australians have to wait until their 21st birthday to really celebrate becoming an adult. This is the traditional adult age in Australia, the USA and the UK.
Even though 21 is the traditional adult age in many English-speaking countries, the law nowadays is different in each country. In the UK you can join the army at 16 and even get married at 16 if your parents allow. Young people in the UK can learn to drive a car at 17, although they have to wait until they are 18 to vote. In China, you can vote and learn to drive a car when you are 18, but if you want to get married, women have to wait until they are 20 and men until they are 22. Chinese people celebrate important birthdays every 10 years so when young people turn 20, they can expect a big party!
No matter what age you are, becoming an adult is really about learning how to be independent and responsible(负责任的). Once you are finally able to take care of yourself and make your own decisions, then you can say that you are truly all grown-ups.

4. What does the last paragraph tell us?
A. When people celebrate their 18th birthday, they become adults.
B. When people turn 20, they should take care of themselves.
C. When you can make your own decisions, you become adults.
D. A true grown-up is independent and responsible.

一、阅读理解。
If I had a cold, I wouldn’t think twice about telling my friends or my doctor. For some reason, however, if I had a mental (心理的) problem, I might not treat it in the same way.
At my elementary school, mental health was not discussed even once as far as I can remember. This makes me wonder how many other schools are failing to educate their students on this topic. It makes me sad that children growing up with mental illness may feel like it is something to be ashamed of (对……感到羞耻的) because it is never discussed. When I reached high school, mental health was still seldom discussed. But when it was in the topic of health or biology class, I was given a broad idea that mental illness was a “thing”that really lies.
In my opinion, overstressed high school students could benefit (获益) greatly from more deep discussions about how to deal with mental health problems, such as how to know when you should care about yourself or a friend, or who to reach out for help. I know my friends and I could have benefited. Even if you personally have never faced mental health problems, someone you know is sure to have, and you can offer timely help.
I also believe we need to normalize (使……正常化) discussions about mental health at an early age, rather than hiding them from sight. At school, I saw a student’s report on mental health education and how it can be carried out in the American school system. The student used the film Inside Out to explain feelings to younger kids. This report made me believe that it is possible to start these discussions at a young age if we try.
Although we can’t change the way people think about mental health over one night, there are still things we can do. Asking our friends how they’re feeling is a good start.
1. How does the writer introduce his topic in Paragraph 1?
A. By showing facts. B. By giving numbers.
C. By making comparison. D. By sharing a story.
2. What was mental health education like when the writer was in high school?
A. It was far from enough. B. It was dealt with in detail.
C. It was completely missing. D. It was treated as something necessary.
3. What does the writer learn from the student’s report?
A. Kids who are healthy outside might be ill inside.
B. Mental health discussions can be held with young kids.
C. The American school system is open to mental health education.
D. Watching educational films can help children with mental illness.
4. Which of the following shows the structure of the article?
A. ①②③/④/⑤ B. ①/②③④/⑤ C. ①/②③④⑤ D. ①/②/③④/⑤
5. What is the best title for the text?
A. Mental health matters! B. Is it okay if it’s not good?
C. The earlier, the better! D. How to pay attention to mental health?

“I don't like my parents. They always tell me I should do this and should not do that.It sometimes makes me angry,”said Zhang Hua, a middle school student in Guangzhou. Perhaps your parents had the same complaints when they were your age long ago. 1
One possible reason is when your father or mother becomes a parent, he/she likes worrying about things. 2 They worry about your choice of friends, the food you eat, your work at school, etc. 3 With such hope, they will do everything they can for you.
4 It's easier than you think.Just make sure your parents know what you're doing. Get them to know your friends. Phone them if you stay somewhere else late so that your parents don't call every friend in the phone book looking for you. 5 Learn to take responsibility for mistakes. Talk about your ideas with them. They may talk about theirs with you in return.
Try to understand your parents. They are also practicing being parents and need help from you. They may make mistakes sometimes, but they are the person who love you always!
A. They wish you to grow up healthily and happily.
B. When you make mistakes, be brave to say sorry to them.

Are you near-sighted(近视的)? 52.7% of Chinese young students were near-sighted in 2020. It was 2.5 % higher than the level in 2019.
Facing this problem, the government made strict rules. For example, the characters of textbooks for the students from Grade five to Grade nine and high school should be no less than" small 4 Characters”,with song Typeface(字体)as the main character. Teaching multimedia(多媒体)should not shine clearly and meet the need of blue light protection. Schools should make sure that students have at least two hours of outdoor activities a day. These new rules were published on March 1, 2022.
As students, you also need to look after your eyes in a proper way. First, you have to pay more attention to your diet. Fresh fruit, vegetables, fish, eggs and milk are good for your eyes. Second, you must have enough sleep. This relaxes your eyes and gives them the rest they need. Next, it's necessary for you to exercise your eyes every day. Last, you should treat your eyes correctly. For example, if you get something in your eyes, don't start rubbing(揉)them. Rubbing is harmful to your eyes. Don't read or write in poor or too bright sunlight because this would cause eye redness. Remember to use sunglasses to stop the sun from shining directly into your eyes.
