There are some typical of trains you’ll find yourself traveling on in France. SNCF (法国国家铁路公司) operates a mix of high-speed services on major routes and slower regional services between smaller stations around France. Find out more about each train type below.
TGV
High-speed: up to 320 km/h
Connects Paris with major cities in France
Double-decker trains
One of the most popular modes of transport for long-distance travel in France. These modern trains run on around 50 high-speed routes and always require a reservation in advance.
Inter-cites
Stops at cities not part of the TGV network
Day and night services
Night trains between Paris and Toulouse, Rodez, Briancon and Latour-de-Carol
Inter-cites trains are mainly used for medium-distance journeys across France.
Although not as fast as TGV trains, they service a lot of stations across the country that aren’t on TGV routes. Reservations are usually required on most Inter-cites services.
TER
Regional trains (one for each region in France)
Low-cost
Stops at smaller stations around France
TER stands for Transport Express Regional and there are 20 different regional TER services operating across France. Popular with commuters (远距离通勤的人), you’ll likely board one of these trains for shorter distance travel to smaller cities and towns throughout France. You won’t need a reservation to board a TER train.
Sleeper trains
Overnight travel to several destinations in France
Comfortable and secure cabins
Opportunity to save on accommodation
Operated by Thello, the popular night train route in France starts in Paris and works its way down into Italy. If you want to save money on accommodation during your trip, taking a sleeper train lets you wake up feeling refreshed at your next destination.

【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇应用文。文章主要介绍了法国国家铁路公司旗下的一些列车类型的相关信息。
【1题详解】
细节理解题。根据文章“TGV”部分中的“These modern trains run on around 50 high-speed routes and always require a reservation in advance. (这些现代化的列车在大约50条高速线路上运行,总是需要提前预订。)”以及“Inter-cites”部分中的“Reservations are usually required on most Inter-cites services. (大多数城际列车服务通常需要预订)”可推知,TGV高铁和城际列车的共同点是两者通常都需要预订。故选C。
【2题详解】
细节理解题。根据文章“TER”部分中的“Low-cost (低成本)”以及“TER stands for Transport Express Regional and there are 20 different regional TER services operating across France. (TER是区域运输快件的缩写,在法国有20种不同的区域运输快件服务。)”可知,TER服务的特别之处在于它以相对较低的成本提供区域服务。故选D。
【3题详解】
推理判断题。根据“Sleeper trains”部分中的“Operated by Thello, the popular night train route in France starts in Paris and works its way down into Italy. If you want to save money on accommodation during your trip, taking a sleeper train lets you wake up feeling refreshed at your next destination. (由泰洛运营,这条在法国颇受欢迎的夜间列车线路从巴黎出发,进入意大利。如果你想在旅途中节省住宿,那就坐一辆sleeper train,让你在下一个目的地醒来时感觉精神焕发。)”可推知,Sleeper trains适合想去意大利,又想要省钱的人。故选D。

Imagine you’re at a football game when this rude man sits next to you. He’s loud, he spills his drink on you, and he makes fun of your team. Days later, you’re walking in the park when suddenly it starts to rain heavily. The same guy from the football game offers you an umbrella. Do you change your mind about him based on this second meeting, or do you go with your first impression and write him off?
Related research suggests that we’re quick to form lasting impressions of others based on their behaviors. On the one hand, learning very bad, highly immoral (不道德) information about someone usually has a stronger influence than learning very good, highly moral information. This is because immoral behaviors can better show a person’s true character.
On the other hand, when forming and updating our opinions about others, people tend to give more importance to behaviors that are seen as less common. When thinking about others’ actions, certain areas in the brain will become active. This brain activity is connected to how often people think these behaviors happen in daily life. In other words, the brain tries to decide if the person’s behavior is common or unusual.
There’s a good meaning in this data: your brain, and you, might care more about the very bad, immoral things another person has done compared to the very good, moral things, but it’s a direct result of the comparative rareness of those bad behaviors.
In the situation with the rude-football-fan-turned-good-person, your brain says, “Well, in my experience, pretty much anyone would lend someone their umbrella, but the way this guy acted at the football game, that was unusual.” And so, you decide to go with your first impression.
Think about the last time you judged someone based on their behavior, especially a time when you really feel like you changed your mind about someone. Was the behavior that caused you to update your impression something you’d expect anyone to do, or was it something totally out of the ordinary?
4. What does the underlined words “write him off” mean in paragraph 1?
A. Ignore him. B. Forgive him.
C. Accept him. D. Follow him.
5. Why do bad behaviors have a stronger influence?
A. They are more memorable.
B. They are seen as less common.
C. They could form lasting impressions.
D. They better present a person’s true nature.
6. Which of the following is your final impression to “the man”?
A. Noisy. B. Impolite.
C. Kind. D. Careful.
7 What is the main idea of the text?
A. Why are first impressions important?
B. How to leave a good impression on others?
C. What will influence your impression of others?
D. How does a rude football fan turn into a good person?
【答案】4. A 5. D 6. B 7. C

Situated at 4,700 meters near Mount Everest in Northwest China’s Qinghai province, Yushu houses thousands who harvest caterpillar fungus, a highly valued traditional medicine. Each May and June, numerous pickers brave the tough environment to collect this essential income, often facing a variety of health issues.
Before the establishment of the mobile clinics, ill or injured pickers had to endure a one to two day travel downhill for treatment, resulting in lost income and life-threatening delays in emergencies.
Recognizing this situation, Yushu City People’s Hospital and local authorities partnered with town-level health centers to create mobile clinics that provide medical services directly at major harvesting sites. This initiative aims to modernize healthcare access for remote, economically vital communities involved in fungus harvesting.
This season, over 200 medical professionals from county. township. and village levels formed 26 mobile medical service teams, covering 40 harvesting zones. Each zone has three to five medical personnel offering free medicine and initial treatments. The mobile clinics perform initial screenings and diagnoses, measure blood pressure and test blood sugar levels, ensuring immediate care without long-distance travel.
Tashi, a dedicated doctor in these mobile clinics for over a decade, recalls a 2019 incident when an elderly man fainted while digging caterpillar fungus. The mobile clinic team swiftly transported him to a town ambulance, and he fully recovered in the hospital. “These clinics have been lifesavers for many.” Tashi emphasizes.
The mobile clinics have created a vital health safety net for Yushu’s herdsmen and pickers. By providing essential medical care in one of the world’s most challenging high-altitude environments, these clinics enhance local well-being and support the sustainability of traditional livelihoods. This annual initiative marks a significant step toward improving healthcare accessibility in remote China, ensuring Yushu’s hardworking communities receive the necessary medical attention.

The issue of how to feed a growing population is a crucial issue for the 21st century. The issue was high on the agenda (当务之急) at the recent United Nations Climate Change Conference in Egypt. According to the UN, by 2050 we will need to produce 60% more food to feed a world population of 9.3 billion.
Cambridge Judge Business School supports a number of businesses which aim to promote sustainable (可持续发展的) agriculture practices. One of the most important fields is precision (精准) agriculture, the science of improving crop yields and assisting management decisions using the latest technology.
Outfield Technologies is targeting high value fruit farming. Farmers buy their own drones (无人机), and then the Outfield software creates flight plans over the farm and processes the images taken by the drones.
By counting the fruit on branches and measuring trees, farmers can see where to apply fertilizer with greater precision, reducing usage and improving soil sustainability. Outfield’s software can also recommend where to start harvesting to reduce waste and labour (劳动力) costs. The rising cost of labour globally has become a huge issue within the agricultural industry, for reasons including the shortage of backpackers (some of whom become seasonal workers) in New Zealand due to COVID-19, and the rise of minimum pay in South Africa.
The data gathered by drones can also predict yields. “Priming” the supply chain ensures a smoother journey from the farm to fruit bowl in your home. When an apple is picked, it is stored in a refrigerated environment for up to six months before being transported to a pack house to be washed, sorted, packaged, before being moved to a delivery centre and finally appearing on supermarket shelves. The chain depends heavily on transportation, but by predicting yields, Outfield aims to reduce waste as traders can predict fruit levels and reduce greenhouse gases caused by refrigerated storage.
Outfield co-founder Oil Hilbourne said, “The agricultural industry needs more investment (投资) to change. More money for 5G, education and investment in start-ups.”
12. Why does the author mention the Climate Change Conference in Egypt?
A. To show the solutions it gave.
B. To point out what’s wrong with its agenda.
C. To stress the seriousness of the food problem.
D. To explain why the population keeps growing.
13. What does Outfield Technologies do for farmers?
A. It offers them free flights.
B. It monitors farms for them.
C. It teaches them about high value fruits.
D. It uses drone-taken images to advertise farms.
14. What labour problems are different countries facing?
A. Pay in South Africa is very low.
B. South Africa can’t agree on minimum pay.
C. Backpackers in New Zealand fail to get paid fairly.
D. New Zealand isn’t drawing enough seasonal workers.
15. What would be the best title for the text?
A. The future of farming
B. The trend of fruit picking
C. The promising market of high value fruits
D. The positive effects of farming on environment

二、七选五(本大题共5小题,共12.5分)
Exam Anxiety
Has this ever happened to you? You’ve been studying hard for your midterm, but when you walk into your exam, your mind goes blank, your heart races fast, you get sweaty palms and find it hard to breathe. ____16____
Everyone feels stressed during exams. Usually, it results from a fear of failure, lack of enough preparation time and bad experiences taking tests in the past. This is normal and often helps you work harder, think faster and generally improve your performance. ____17____ You may also feel that other people are managing the exam better than you. This can cause you to feel that your mind has “gone blank” on information you know you have revised.
____18____ Some choose to ignore the problem, while others don’t review because they think they will do badly anyway and even miss exams due to the anxiety. It can also be really easy to think that if you don’t try and then you fail, you won’t feel as bad as if you fail after trying really hard.
So what can you do to fight against the negative mindset and stay calm before and during your test? ____19____ Yes, this seems obvious, but it’s worth repeating. If you feel confident that you’ve prepared thoroughly, you’ll feel more confident walking into the test. The second tip is simple: just start. The blank page can maximize your anxiety. ____20____ You can always go back and change things later if needed, but a few quick answers can get the ball rolling. Besides, allocating (分配) your time is equally important. Look through the whole test before getting started. Mentally allocate how much time you’ll spend on each section. If there’s time to recheck, even better.
A. The first thing you should do is to be prepared.
B. People often deal with exam stress in many unhelpful ways.
C. If these classic signs of exam anxiety sound familiar, you’re not alone!
D. Therefore, people need an appropriate amount of pressure to help deal with exams.
E. Realizing time is almost up and that there’s still a lot of blank space will make you desperate.
F. However, if you are overly anxious about the result, you may be unable to focus on your work.
G. After you get the paper, dive right in by getting some questions done to build up your confidence.
【答案】16. C 17. F 18. B 19. A 20. G
【解析】

【18题详解】
后文“Some choose to ignore the problem, while others don’t review because they think they will do badly anyway and even miss exams due to the anxiety.(一些人选择忽略这个问题,而另一些人不复习,因为他们认为他们无论如何都会做得很差,甚至因为焦虑而错过考试。)”表示不同的人如何消极地应对考试焦虑,B选项“人们经常用许多无益的方式来应对考试压力”引出下文无益的几种方式。故选B。
【19题详解】
前文“So what can you do to fight against the negative mindset and stay calm before and during your test?(那么,你能做些什么来对抗消极的心态,并在考试前和考试中保持冷静呢?)”提问应如何减少考试焦虑,保持冷静,再结合下文“If you feel confident that you’ve prepared thoroughly, you’ll feel more confident walking into the test.(如果你觉得自己已经准备充分,那么在考试时你会更自信。)”可知,第一点应该是做好准备,A选项“你要做的第一件事就是做好准备”符合主旨。故选A。
【20题详解】
前文“The second tip is simple: just start. The blank page can maximize your anxiety.(第二个技巧很简单:只要开始就行。空白的纸能让你的焦虑最大化。)”说明第二个方法是直接答卷,G选项“拿到试卷后,你可以通过做一些问题来建立你的信心”表明在做题的过程中逐渐增加自信,符合前文语境。故选G。

A. Noisy. B. Impolite.
C. Kind. D. Careful.
7. What is the main idea of the text?
A Why are first impressions important?
B. How to leave a good impression on others?
C. What will influence your impression of others?
D. How does a rude football fan turn into a good person?
8. What do we know about the caterpillar fungus pickers in Yushu?
A. They are in poor health. B. They work as full-time farmers.
C. They mainly live on fungus harvesting. D. They harvest fungus throughout the year.
9. Why are the mobile clinics in Yushu established?
A. To provide professional training for local doctors.
B. To increase the income of caterpillar fungus pickers.
C. To research traditional herbal medicine in remote areas.
D. To offer timely medical support to caterpillar fungus pickers.
10. What can be inferred about the mobile clinics?
A. They are the result of joint efforts. B. They provide further medical treatment.
C. They have cost a lot to operate and maintain. D. They are staffed by experts from large hospitals.
11. What is the author’s attitude toward the mobile clinics?
A Unclear. B. Doubtful. C. Cautious. D. Appreciative.
D
The issue of how to feed a growing population is a crucial issue for the 21st century. The issue was high on the agenda (当务之急) at the recent United Nations Climate Change Conference in Egypt. According to the UN by 2050 we will need to produce 60% more food to feed a world population of 9.3 billion.
