Four years ago, my life was a fixed cycle: work, socialize (社交) indoors, sleep and repeat. The closest I got to nature was looking at the garden from my room window. But all that changed when I came across hiking by accident.
It started with an invitation from a friend—to join a hiking group for a day out. Uncertain, but interested, I agreed. The first hike was hard. I was out of breath and my legs ached. But as I reached the end, I was amazed by the beautiful view of nature. A feeling of achievement filled my heart.
I decided to hike more. In doing so, I noticed some changes. My body grew stronger. My stamina (耐力) improved. And my mind grew more relaxed. The stress of city life disappeared with each step.
Along the way, I met new people. We enjoyed the nature, shared stories and formed friendships. What’s more, we did all this without using our smart phones.
As my connection with nature got deeper, so did my love for the environment. I joined in environmental protection efforts, understanding that protecting beautiful nature was my responsibility (责任).
