教学设计 课程基本信息 学科 英语 年级 八年级 学期 秋季 课题 Module11 Way of life Unit3 Language Practice（2）& Around the world& Module task 教学目标 By the end of the class, students will be able to: 1. know how to behave well in a Western family; 2. give some advice for foreign visitors to a Chinese family； 3. use Modal verbs must, mustn’t, can, can’t, need and needn’t correctly when talking and writing about customs; polish their writing according to the checklists; 4. cultivate cross-cultural communication awareness. 教学内容 单元主题：Way of Life 该主题属于“人与社会”范畴，涉及“世界主要国家的文化习俗”。本课属于第三单元第二课时。本模块的主要任务是给到中国做客的友人提供建议。本课的语篇是“Traditional presents”，学生通过各种阅读活动，理解文章，了解西方国家做客的注意事项，把握作者的写作意图，告诉我们去一个国家重要的是要入乡随俗，尊重他人，尊重不同地方的文化。通过一系列循环递进和整合关联的活动，使学生围绕“生活方式”的主题，由己及人，既能自己知道怎么做，也能给别人提供合理又有用的建议，培养核心素养，实现语言学习和课程育人的有机融合。 教学重点： 1. to understand the passage Traditional Presents 2. to summarize and consolidate the use of Modal Verbs when talking about customs. 3. to write advice for foreign guests who are visiting a Chinese family. 教学难点： 1. to write a passage with the tips given in class. 2. to motivate students to involve in the online class activity. 教学过程 教学目标1、4：know how to behave well in a Western family；cultivate cross-cultural communication awareness. Activity 1. Lead-in/Brainstorming. T: Culture varies from country to country. In this module, we have already learnt a lot about different customs. Please brainstorm: How to be a polite guest in a Western family? Watch a video on being a polite guest in the West. Purpose: Lead into the topic and attract students’ attention.（感知与注意） Activity 2. Look and say. T: Please look and say 1. When you visit someone, you should prepare some presents. You mustn’t send white flowers. 2. About arriving time, you must arrive on time. You can’t arrive too late or too early. 3. About taboo subjects,...you mustn’t ask… 4. At the dining table, you can.. Let’s share-----When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Purpose: Review the target language structure and present new expression.（获取与梳理） Activity 3.Reading (Around the world) 1) Look and predict. Look at the picture and predict what traditional presents are talked about. 2) Read and fill. Read again and fill in the blank. Think: What about in China? Do they have special meaning too? 3) Read and choose. The writer shows the different meanings of flowers by_______. 4) Read and answer. How can people avoid making mistakes in a foreign country? 5) Read for some writing tips. Purpose: to understand the passage through different activities, develop some reading strategies and get ready for writing. (获取与梳理、描述与阐释) 教学目标2、3：give some advice for foreign visitors to a Chinese family；use Modal verbs must, mustn’t, can, can’t, need and needn’t correctly when talking and writing about customs. Activity 4. Pre-writing/choose and say. Wang Hui’s English friend Jack is coming to China for a visit and he needs some advice on visiting a Chinese family. Please give him some advice. His questions are as follows. 1) What must I wear? 2) What mustn’t I talk about? 3) What can’t I do? 4) What presents can I bring? 5) When must I arrive? 6) ... Purpose: Encourage students to talk about ways of life in China. Make sure they can use modal verbs correctly.(分析与判断) Activity 5. Get your grammar ready. Summarize the usage of modal verbs. Fill in the blank with the words given. Purpose: Summarize the usage of modal verbs and get grammar ready for writing.(概括和整合) Activity 6. Writing. (应用实践、迁移创新) 1) Show the mind map and sentence patterns. Give self-evaluation checklist and read them for students. Students start to write according to the mind map and polish their writing according to the checklist. 2) Students read the sample and polish their writing. Activity 7. Homework Must do: 1. Polish their writing and share with their classmates; 2. Finish the exercises in the worksheet.
