第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
A
Science fiction pioneer and writer Wu Yan won the National Outstanding Children’s literature Award for his latest work China Orbit. The book focuses on the development of the Chinese aerospace industry, and it was inspired by the planning and preparation for China’s first but canceled manned spacecraft, “Shuguang 1”, also known as Project 714, during the late 1960s and early 1970s.
“I collected many historical documents and stories and started writing decades ago, Wu remembered. Partly based on Wu’s own experiences in the 1970s, the book is a combination of reality and fiction, and in some ways his own memoir (传记) was added into the science fiction. This innovative and unique writing method makes the book stand out and has even stirred up a debate on how to categorize it. Is it science fiction, popular science, children’s literature, or aerospace literature?
His fellow science fiction writer Liu Cixin author of The Three-Body Problem, sees it more deeply, and believes China Orbit is not really children’s science fiction or popular science. He thinks it is too complicated to be classed under a single category. He speaks highly of China Orbit as a unique science fiction novel that vividly shows a child’s real-life experience in a military of a specific era.
In Wu’s opinion, China is a big market for children’s science fiction, but it still lacks extraordinary works. He warned people not to try to earn quick money from it after The Three-BodyProblem frenzy (狂热) and movie blockbuster (轰动) The Wondering Earth because Chinese science fiction still has a long way to go. We need to build Chinese science fiction step by step, with an accumulation of really great works. We need to innovate, and treat it as part of building China’s new culture.
1. What is the book China Orbit mainly about?
A. The space industry in China.
B. The introduction to Project 714.
C. Stories about Chinese outstanding astronauts.
D. Preparations for China’s first manned spacecraft.
2. What is Wu’s approach to writing China Orbit?
A. He organizes the writing by time.
B He tells the story in the form of debate.
C. He focuses on creating the role of children.
D. He combines his personal experiences with fiction.
3. What can we infer from the last paragraph?
A. China Obit has great commercial value.
B. Chinese science movies are of poor quality.
C. Innovation is crucial to Chinese science fiction.
D. Wu Yan is disappointed at the Chinese film market.

Along with a rising number of space missions by government agencies and private industries, comes a fresh set of problems for Earth: potentially dangerous space junk (太空垃圾).
A recent study published in the scientific journal Nature Astronomy concluded “that current space practices have a 10 percent chance of one or more deaths over a decade”. In other words, according to researchers from the University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia, there’s roughly a one-in-ten chance that the next decade will witness falling space junk kill someone.
The space junk orbiting the earth is an unfortunate by-product of our desire to explore and document space. According to 2021 figures from NASA and the Department of Defense’s Space Surveillance Data, the agencies were actively tracking more than 27,000 pieces of space junk, most of which are larger than a softball and that casually orbit the planet. The floating space junk is certainly a problem, but not all the objects must come down, and, in fact, a number of pieces simply burn up in the atmosphere. Sometimes those objects, particularly large ones like used rocket attachments, give in to gravity and fall back down to Earth to be dealt with once again by their human makers. But typically, people don’t die or even get injured by this phenomenon — because many of the falling pieces crash into the ocean.
They also have to deal with the unsettling feeling of knowing that large rocket pieces can just fall from the sky and that it might affect people in certain parts of the world more than others.
This poses an obvious safety risk to people on the ground. “When some large parts of space junk return to Earth, the parts of their mass survive the heat of atmosphere. Many of the surviving pieces are potentially dangerous, giving serious risks on land, at sea, and to people in airplanes,” the study explains.
4. What is the conclusion of the study published in Nature Astronomy?
A. People will see space junk easily in the future.
B. Some people may be hit to death by objects from the space.
C. Government agencies and private industries will develop fast.
D. There will be a 10 percent chance for human to die in 10 years.
5. What can be inferred from the third paragraph?
A. Normally we should not worry about space junk.
B. All the space junk will get burnt in the sky.
C. The large space junk will destroy the ocean.
D. The floating space junk will come down finally.
6. What might be discussed in the following part of the text?
A. How to find space junk. B. How to deal with space junk.
C. How to check the space junk. D. How to inform people of the danger.
7. Which is the most suitable title for the text?
A. Space Junk Causes Pollution
B. How to Take Back Space Junk
C. Space Junk Puts People at Risk
D. Exploring Space Takes in Unfortunate Results

Clay speakers? It might sound far- fetched, but now speakers formed from Mother Earth have been brought to market.
Its maker — Mapu Speakers — says the product is around 80 percent sustainable. Yet despite the speakers’ sustainability, those behind them did not initially set out to make the speakers more sustainable. The main inspiration was to bring traditional Chilean crafts and ancestral knowledge into the 21st century. In Chilean regions, specifically in rural Chile, where Mapu co- founder Pablo Ocqueteau was born, the crafts were dying out.
There Ocqueteau noticed how most traditional craftspeople were getting on a bit. “There was nobody to succeed them,” he says. As a result, pottery workshops went into liquidation.
Ocqueteau and his partner, German- born Philine von Düszeln, wondered how they could help. This thought occupied them for some time. One night, an idea came to Ocqueteau. “I had this moment when the light turned on,” he told Positive News. The story goes that he was lying on the sofa at home in Chile. Music was playing and his eyes wandered around the room. Eventually they landed on a clay jug known as a tinaja, which is used to cool water. Such pots are common in Chilean households. “I thought: ‘Maybe we could make a speaker out of that,’” he says.
So that’s what he and Düszeln did. Craftspeople in rural Chile were only too happy to help the pair realize their vision. Finally, the pair built their speaker out of local materials and called it Mapuguaquén, which means “sound of the earth” in the Mapuche language.
Now the pair are bringing the handmade speakers to market. More recently, Mapu has started working with craftspeople in Molelos, Portugal, on another line of speakers. “We want to help make the crafts more attractive to young people again,” says Düszeln.
“Our mission goes beyond making speakers. We dream of a crafts revolution to highlight traditional handerafts in our industrialized world, building a bridge between ancestral knowledge and technology,” write Ocqueteau and Düszeln on the company’s website.
8. What was the main vision behind clay speakers?
A. To show respect for Mother Earth.
B. To keep traditional Chilean crafts alive.
C. To create environmentally sustainable products.
D. To help traditional craftspeople improve their crafts.
9. What does the underlined part “went into liquidation” in paragraph 3 mean?
A. Burnt down. B. Settled down. C. Closed down. D. Slowed down.
10. What inspired Ocqueteau to make a speaker?
A An ordinary clay pot. B. The story about Chile.
C. A report from Positive News. D. The gentle light music in his room.
11. What do the pair expect of their speakers?
A. They can appeal to craftspeople around the world.
B. They can mix technology with ancestral knowledge.
C. They can encourage young people to become artists.
D. They can promote technology in the industrialized world.

A Chinese female pilot has set a record in the country’s airline industry after flying a small plane for 40 minutes in Beijing. Miao Xiaohong, one of China’s second batch (一批) of female pilots, controlled the Tecnam P2010 plane to take off, turn, climb, dive and land safely at the Shifosi Airport in Pinggu District of Beijing.
In 1956, Miao Xiaohong, who graduated from a high school in Jinan, won a position in the second batch. She graduated from the flight school in 1958. In the following years, she flew many important missions. In 1963, she accepted a mission to airdrop materials for the flood-stricken areas in Hebei Province. Poor visibility (能见度) prevented her locating the target areas as the clouds were about 100 meters above the ground, but she managed to finish the task.
In 1989, she retired and started her writing career. When she collected materials for her books, she found that many aged pilots in other countries still flew, so she had the idea of returning to the sky. To prepare for the flight, she walked 3,000 steps every day and moved her arms to meet the requirements for high-altitude flight during the past two months. Different from past flights for missions, this time her goal was to enjoy the flight. She said that it was exciting and fresh. “Seeing the boundless blue sky unfold in front of me, I feel it is very open,” she said.
The trainer said that Miao Xiaohong could finish 30 hours of flight to get a license for the commercial flight. She said, “My physical condition is good enough to finish the 30-hour flight but it is not so important for me to get such a license. After achieving my dream of returning to the sky, I hope to encourage young women to join the airline industry. I’m 82 years old and I can fly again. You, the young people, can fly and will fly better than me.”
12. What can we learn about Miao Xiaohong from her airdrop mission?
A. She was a very lucky pilot. B. She had excellent flight skills.
C. She suffered from poor eyesight. D. She seldom finished hard tasks.
13. What made Miao Xiaohong have the idea of flying a plane at the age of 82?
A. Her deep love for the sky.
B. Her wish to set a flying record.
C. The influence of foreign aged pilots.
D. The requirements of her books.
14. Which of the following can best describe Miao Xiaohong?
A. Strict. B. Stubborn. C. Generous. D. Determined.
15. What could be the best title for the passage?
A. Returning to the Blue Sky B. Improving Your Flight Skills
C. Managing to Finish Difficult Tasks D. Improving Yourself to Set a Record

47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I’ve always thought of my mother Lee-Ann as a superhero because she has a huge heart full of love for anyone.
I could write about all of the wonderful things she has done, but I want to focus on the project she does every year that has shaped my whole family and everyone around us: She collects money and puts it in a little jar that we refer to as “The Charity Jar.” Every year, she takes this money and puts it toward something—a cause, an act of kindness, anything that can help someone. Sometimes, she buys coffees for the next people in line at a coffee shop. Other times, she buys something for an organization that needs it.
If you ask her about this tradition, she will tell you that she is carrying on something that her mother used to do around the holidays. She manages to get our whole family involved in this movement every year. Last year, she helped an organization where I volunteered—Ruth’s Place—a homeless women’s shelter in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
I had been helping in the shelter when I noticed the wish list on the wall: comforters (被子), a DVD player, a coffee maker and supplies. I told my mom, and within a day she had already asked if our family wanted to help Ruth’s Place. We all agreed and decided that the coffee maker and supplies would be the best things for our family to work on together. A few days later, Mom found a coffee maker online, showed it to us, and with a few clicks it was on its way. We gathered the rest of the supplies and called the shelter to find a day that we could deliver them.
On Thanksgiving Day, I drove my mom to the shelter—very slowly because she had baked fresh chocolate cupcakes for the women, and they were sitting on my clean leather seats. She had never been in the shelter before, but the whole way she talked about how excited she was to be able to check off something on their list.

【答案】4. B 5. A 6. B 7. C

【5题详解】
推理判断题。根据第三段中“The floating space junk is certainly a problem, not all the objects that went up must come down, and, in fact, a number of pieces simply burn up in the atmosphere. (虽漂浮的太空垃圾确实是个问题,但并非所有上升的物体都必须下降,事实上,一些碎片只是在大气中燃烧。)”以及“But typically, people don’t die or even get injured by this phenomenon — because many of the falling pieces crash into the ocean. (但通常情况下,人们不会因为这种现象而死亡甚至受伤——因为许多坠落的碎片都坠入了海洋。)”可知,虽然太空漂浮垃圾是个问题,但是很多碎片在大气中燃烧了,或者在通常情况,即使有许多太空垃圾碎片坠落,但都坠入了海洋,通常我们不应该担心太空垃圾。故选A。
【6题详解】
推理判断题。根据最后一段中““When some large parts of space junk return to Earth, the parts of their mass survive the heat of atmosphere. Many of the surviving pieces are potentially dangerous, giving serious risks on land, at sea, and to people in airplanes,” the study explains. (“当一些大块的太空垃圾返回地球时,它们的质量部分在大气层的高温下幸存下来。许多幸存的碎片都有潜在的危险,对陆地、海上和飞机上的人都有严重的风险,”研究解释说。)”可知,最后一段中指出当一些大块的太空垃圾返回地球时,它们的质量部分在大气层的高温下幸存下来,由此对陆地、海上和飞机上的人都有严重的风险。由此推测下文应该阐述的是如何处理这些太空垃圾。故选B。

A. An ordinary clay pot.
【答案】8. B 9. C 10. A 11. B

第二节(满分25分)

My mother had tears in her eyes as we walked to my car.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】One possible version:
When we took the gifts inside, the women were so happy. My mother was bright-eyed, carrying chocolate cupcakes into a shelter full of women she did not know. She stood by the front desk, thanking women for their praise on her baking and talking to the volunteers as I filled out the donation sheet. All the smiling faces lit up the shelter full of sweet smell of chocolate. As we left, we wished the women “Happy Thanksgiving,” and we were met with a chorus of “Happy Thanksgivings” and “Thank You.”
My mother had tears in her eyes as we walked to my car. I did not have to ask why; I knew that she did not cry out of pity. She did not cry out of sorrow. She cried because she was thankful to have the opportunity to help someone in need with her whole family. I am thankful for my mother and the lessons she has shown me in love and kindness. I can say with certainty that I am not the only one whom she has made a better person.
