2. Be able to describe the layout and features of the rooms in a complete sentence.
Teaching Aids:
1. Pictures of different rooms.
2. PPT presentation.
3. Word cards.
Teaching Procedures:
Step 1: Warm-up (5 minutes)
1. Greet the students and have a free talk. Ask them about their daily activities at home.
2. Play a guessing game. Show some clues about a room and ask students to guess which room it is.
Step 2: Presentation (15 minutes)
1. Present the title of the lesson "Jenny's House" and show a picture of a house.
2. Point to each room in the picture and introduce the new vocabulary: living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, study. Say the words clearly and have students repeat after you.
3. Use gestures and simple explanations to help students understand the meaning of each room. For example, for the kitchen, act like cooking.
4. Show the sentence structures: "This is the... There is/are..." and explain how to use them to describe the rooms.
5. Present the text. Have students listen carefully while looking at the pictures in the book.
Step 3: Practice (5 minutes)
1. Read the text together. Then, divide students into groups and have them read it in groups.
2. Point to the pictures of the rooms and ask students to say the names loudly.
3. Do a matching activity. Show the word cards and the pictures of the rooms separately. Ask students to match the words with the correct pictures.
4. Ask students to look at the pictures of Jenny's house and describe the rooms using the sentence structures. For example, "This is the living room. There is a sofa." Encourage them to add more details.
Step 4: Production (5 minutes)
1. Let's do it! Part 1: Look and write. Show the exercises on the PPT or on the blackboard. Have students complete the sentences by looking at the pictures and using the words they have learned. Walk around and offer help if needed.
2. Let's do it! Part 2: Draw and write. Ask students to draw a picture of their own home and then write sentences to describe the rooms. After they finish, invite some students to show their pictures and read the sentences to the class.
Step 5: Consolidation (5 minutes)
1. Review the vocabulary and sentence structures by having a quick quiz. Ask some questions randomly, such as "What's this room? Where do we sleep?"
2. Summarize what students have learned today and praise their efforts.
Step 6: Homework (5 minutes)
1. Read the text to their parents and describe their own home.
2. Make a mini-book about their home with pictures and sentences.
