His life changed, however, one day when he got a heart-shaped box full of chocolates before Valentine’s Day, along with a piece of paper that said, “Somebody loves you.” At first, he couldn’t believe it, but as he read the message, he began to laugh and dance around. Have you ever wondered if the color of your bedroom wall has something to do with your sleep? In many ways, it does have something to do with your sleep. Scientists have done some studies on it. The results show that certain wall colors can be harmful to your feelings. They can make you feel nervous, angry, tired and so on. If you have had these feelings when you step into your bedroom, it might be time to change the color of your bedroom wall.
As sleep expert Natalie Armstrong says, there are many colors that shouldn’t be used in the bedroom. Gray (灰色) may be a hot color of bedroom walls, but painting your bedroom wall the same color as the cloudy sky is really a bad choice. Gray is depressive (压抑的). It provides sad feelings and stops you from getting a good sleep. Red, brown and purple are too bright to help with a peaceful night’s sleep. Those colors can put people’s brains into a condition of high nervousness, which can last long even after the lights are turned off. Blue stands out to become a perfect bedroom color.
Why? This is because the cells (细胞) in the retinas (视网膜) of your eyes can easily pick up this cool color and then directly send relaxing messages to the brain. In this way blue could actually improve sleep and become one of our top choices for bedroom walls. So next time you paint your house, why not advise your parents to paint the walls of your bedroom blue? Proper colors can help you have good feelings. Try to find the right color to paint your bedroom and may you enjoy good dreams every night.
23 What does the underlined part “be harmful to” in Paragraph 1 mean in English?
A. be bad for. B. do good to. C. be useless for. D. be necessary for.
24. What do the colors gray, red, brown and purple have in common?
A. They all make people feel hopeless.
B. They all make the brain excited.
C. They can stop people from sleeping well.
D. They can make people feel nervous in a dark environment.
25. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. What our retinas look like.
B. Ways to make our eyes work better.
C. Why blue is a perfect color for painting bedroom walls.
D. Things people do before and after painting their bedrooms.
26. Why did the writer write the passage?
A. To ask people to know more about colors.
B To introduce some ways to improve people’s sleep.
C. To explain the influences of different colors on people’s health.
D. To advise people to choose a right color for their bedroom walls.
D
Hanfu refers to the ancient dress of the Han people. For a long time people didn’t wear hanfu, but in recent years it has become popular again, especially among young people. As a kind of national clothing, it is a symbol of Chinese culture.
A set of hanfu covers several main parts—yi, an open cross-collar garment; pao, a full-body overcoat; shan, an open cross-collar jacket; qun or chang, a skirt; ku, a kind of trousers.
Hanfu helps us remember part of the Chinese culture at that time. Many people believe that wearing hanfu brings them a strong feeling of being a Chinese person. Many universities in China have hanfu clubs whose members wear hanfu to celebrate traditional Chinese festivals, and they use that chance to introduce it to others.
The pattern of cutting makes the clothes wide. The wearers both look and feel comfortable. The cloth material is carefully chosen. Usually nine kinds of cloth, such as silk and cotton, are used. The colors come from plants so they are natural without pollution.
It’s said that the traditional hanfu began from the clothes in the Yellow Emperor period and lasted until the end of the Ming Dynasty. Until the Zhou Dynasty it had a short coat and a skirt. Later, the upper part of the clothing for women became thinner, while the skirt became longer and wider. In the Tang Dynasty there were round collar clothes for men and front-opening dresses for women. After the Tang Dynasty, hanfu was influenced by other cultures. Buttons (纽扣) appeared later. Hanfu was Chinese clothes for over four thousand years. It also influenced other Asian countries, such as South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. Now even some foreigners enjoy wearing hanfu and enjoy this traditional Chinese culture.
27. What can we know from Paragraph 1?
A. Hanfu is out of date in modern times.
B. It is hard for young people to wear hanfu.
C. Hanfu was worn by Chinese people only in the past.
D Hanfu is becoming popular among young people now.
28. What do we know about a set of hanfu from Paragraph 2?
A. The price. B. The key parts. C. The size. D. The cultural meaning.
29. What does the underlined word “ it” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A. Hanfu. B. The chance.
C. The traditional Chinese festival. D. The feeling of being a Chinese person.
30. Which can be put into “______” in Paragraph 5?
A. A set of hanfu takes a lot of money.
B. People spent much money changing hanfu.
C. Hanfu was introduced to many other countries.
D. The basic hanfu took shape during the Zhou Dynasty.

In this way, blue could actually improve sleep and become one of our top choices for bedroom walls. So next time you paint your house, why not advise your parents to paint the walls of your bedroom blue? Proper colors can help you have good feelings. Try to find the right color to paint your bedroom and may you enjoy good dreams every night.

25. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. What our retinas look like.
B Ways to make our eyes work better.
C. Why blue is a perfect color for painting bedroom walls.
D. Things people do before and after painting their bedrooms.
26. Why did the writer write the passage?
