九年级上期期末考点大串讲(北师大版) 专题04 阅读理解单项选择四题题型 (解析版) A In 1937, my father, who was almost 20 years old, started a long journey. He traveled a thousand miles across China with his university, Zhejiang University, during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (抗日战争). The Chinese government wanted to keep the university students safe because they were important for the country’s future. As the university planned for the journey, the Head Librarian of Zhejiang Library, asked the university to take a collection of books with them. The books were called “Siku Quanshu”. Created in the 18th century, this was a huge encyclopedia (百科全书) with 2.3 million pages and about 997 million words. It was so important that plans were made to protect it at any cost, even though it added another 230 boxes to the students’ cargo. The journey was not easy. Students and teachers were facing the dangers from air attacks. They were always tired and hungry. They had to sleep on the ground in old temples but they continued their classes whenever they could. To protect the books, they tried to move by boat or truck whenever possible; at other times, they would put the boxes into carts (手推车). Sometimes the students had to carry some of the books in their backpacks. One scary moment was when a box of the Siku Quanshu books fell into a river. They quickly saved the books and dried them in a local temple. After 1,400 miles and 28 months on the road, the university group finally reached a small town called Zunyi in Guizhou province. They stayed there in simple classrooms and dorms, until the war moved deeper into China. To further protect the Siku Quanshu, the books were hidden in a nearby cave, guarded by university staff. The books made it through the war in surprisingly good condition and were sent back to Zhejiang Library. This amazing story shows how a group of young students and their teachers did everything they could to protect their culture’s treasures. They faced many dangers and hardships, but they never gave up. They worked together to keep their knowledge safe. 1.What does the underlined word “cargo” in Parapraph 2 probably mean? D.Money that you need in order to do something. 2.Which challenge is NOT mentioned in the passage during the journey? A.Poor transportation. B.Dangers from attacks. C.Terrible weather. D.Bad living conditions. 3.Which of the following is TRUE about the Siku Quanshu? A.It was created by Zhejiang University. B.It was well-protected during the war. C.It was a collection of 997 books. D.It was sent back to Zunyi after the war. 4.Which is the best title for the passage? Jordyn thought about the idea. She already had everything she needed, and these kids in hospital were going through some difficulties. They probably needed gifts more than she did. “Okay, that sounds cool,” she finally said. Now a student in high school, Jordyn continues to bring joy to kids with serious illnesses. This year, she has made her eighth yearly birthday-gift donation to Baptist Children’s Hospital in San Antonio. Kids can be in the hospital for lots of reasons. In the US, asthma (哮喘) is a top reason for younger children. Whatever the patient’s age or illness, a hospital stay can be stressful. Efforts like Jordyn’s are sunshine during a difficult time. Jordyn’s gift-giving project begins each year in November. When she sends her friends invitations to her birthday party, she includes a list of gift ideas for kids at the hospital. For the youngest patients, gifts might include building blocks or toy trains. “And for the teenagers,” Jordyn says, “it might be nail polish or books.” Natalie Gutierrez, a worker at Baptist Children’s Hospital, has seen the influence of Jordyn’s gift-giving. “She puts smiles on the faces of these young patients in our hospital and on our nurses,” Gutierrez says. “They are all amazed at her beneficence at such a young age.” Jordyn’s efforts to help kids in the hospital have influenced others a lot. Friends have given away gifts for their birthdays too. And Jordyn says her 11-year-old twin sisters help animals at the Humane Society. “Giving to others, it’s just a good feeling to have at the end of the day,” Jordyn says. “I want to keep doing this as long as I can.” 5.Which paragraph tells us the meaning of Jordyn’s action? A.Paragraph 1. B.Paragraph 2. C.Paragraph 3. D.Paragraph 4. 6.What can we infer from the first three paragraphs? A.Jordyn is 15 years old now. B.Jordyn didn’t like her gifts at all. Sounds really hard, doesn’t it? Well, with the help of AI stylists, it’s not so hard any more. An AI stylist can help people choose outfits. It searches for pictures of clothes online and collects thousands of outfits created by human stylists. It can also understand words and pick out important information about each piece of clothing. It keeps all the pictures and words in a data set. Then, the AI stylist gives people fashion ideas according to what they like. A team of people look after the data set (数据集) and make sure it always has the newest information. They help the AI stylist get better at choosing clothes by improving its rules. The AI stylist can also suggest something new to try, even if it’s a little different from what the user usually wears. People often like to try something new! An AI stylist can run into problems when people from different cultures use it. What is popular in Asia may be different from what is cool in Europe. The AI stylist should know what is popular in each place and change its advice to match people’s wants in different places. So, people make rules for AI stylists to follow. Different countries can change these rules to match different styles. An AI stylist also has to keep up with “fashion rules”. Sometimes, certain clothes don’t go well together. It is difficult for the AI stylist to understand. So another AI model that can understand the cut, style and colour of outfits adds that information to the data set. People have compared (比较) outfits by AI stylists and human stylists, and AI stylists have done pretty well. Maybe one day we won’t put together an outfit without using our AI stylists first. 25.What do the team of people do for AI stylists? A.Control the data set of outfits. B.Test AI stylists’ fashion advice. C.Connect AI stylists with the Internet. D.Find pictures and words about clothing. 26.Which of the following might be a challenge for an AI stylist? A.Comparing users from different cultures. B.Suggesting something new for users to try. C.Picking out important information about clothing. D.Choosing different styles for users from different countries. 27.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?(①=Paragraph 1, ②=Paragraph 2...) A.①②③/④⑤ B.①/②③/④/⑤ C.①/②/③/④⑤ D.①/②/③④/⑤ 28.What does the writer think of the future of AI stylists? A.Bright. B.Uncertain. C.Worrying. As soon as the game came out, it led a new interest in the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West around the world. The 2-meter-wide alley separates a pair of gray walls. At first sight it may seem common, but to those who know its history, it means much more than its appearance would suggest. During holidays, the alley fills with thousands of visitors each day— attracted there by the story of its creation and the lessons that can be learned from it. Its name comes from the Chinese word for six and chi—a traditional Chinese unit of length that corresponds to one-third of a meter. It was so named because of its width. In the early Qing Dynasty, it served as the boundary (边界) between the households of two families. To the south was the Zhang family and to the north the Wu family. Both had male members in high positions within the court of Emperor Kangxi. But the two families quarreled (争吵). The point of their quarrel was the boundary between their two houses and which family had the right to build a wall on the dividing line. After trying but failing at mediation (调解), the Zhangs wrote to Zhang Ying, their most prominent family member and a trusted top official in the emperor’s court. His response (回复), which is still celebrated in the form of a poem, did not provide the support for which his family had hoped. Instead, he called for his family to step back one meter from the boundary. His suggestion so moved the two families, the story goes, that both did exactly that. ________ Although the walls by the alley are replicas (仿制品), people are still attracted to the area because of its back story. To them, the story is about how to get along with other people. And it has often been cited to talk about the qualities of a kind person, a cultured family, or a good official. The local government has made great efforts to restore the area to its original glory (昔日辉煌). They are all annoying noises. But what’s the worst? A recent survey lists the things we hate to hear. The list of horrible noises had over 100 items. Several mobile phone ringtones appear near the top. Other noises include barking dogs, pneumatic drills (风钻). electric leaf blowers, loud snoring and banging noises early on a Sunday morning. However, number-one on the list was the sound of a dentist’s drill, “That just sends shivers down my spine,” said one person. “After a visit to the dentist, I sometimes wake up at night with that sound in my head. It’s horrible.” said another.” I’ve seen patients shaking with fear when I bring out the drill,” explained a dentist. Of course, anyone who’s actually been to the dentist and heard the sound will  probably agree with that. But there’s some good news. A new device (设备) developed by experts at universities can cancel out the sound of the drill. The tiny gadget (小装置) allows  patients to listen to music on an MP3 player while the sound of the drill is canceled  out. However, patients are still able to hear the dentist’s voice because not all sounds are filtered (过滤) out. The theory behind it is fairly simple. Microphones are placed close to the dental drill. These pick up any sounds and change them into digital signals. Then, electronic filters cancel out any unwanted sound waves. However, the great thing is that this  technology also allows others noises ( such as the dentist’s voice) to come through. It’s easy to use, too. Patients simply plug the device into their MP3 players. Then, via headphones, they can listen to music and hear the dentist’s voice without being disturbed by the noise of the drill. Fantastic! So, next time you go to the dentist, remember to bring your MP3 player. 37.What’s on the top of the list of horrible noises according to the recent survey? A.Barking dogs. B.A dentist’s drill. C.Electric leaf blowers. D.A mobile phone. 38.What dos the underlined phrase, “send shivers down my spine” probably mean? A.make me feel sad B.make me very angry C.make me very scared D.make me very excited 39.The fifth paragraph mainly talks about ________. A.how the sound-filtering device works B.who invented the sound-filtering device C.what the sound-filtering device is made of D.how the sound-filtering device was invented 40.Which of the following statements is true about the new device? A.It can make the sound of a dentist’s drill disappear. B.The device can prevent all noises from coming through. C.The device can change unwanted noises into pleasant music. D.With the device on, patients can hear nothing but music on their MP3. 【答案】37.B 38.C 39.A 40.A 【导语】本文主要介绍了一种减少噪音的装置。 37.细节理解题。根据“However, number-one on the list was the sound of a dentist’s drill,”可知,排名第一的是牙医钻牙的声音。故选B。 38.词句猜测题。根据“After a visit to the dentist, I sometimes wake up at night with that sound in my head. Around the world, many companies are developing self-driving technology. In some cities, self-driving cars have already rolled onto streets. A self-driving car is sometimes called a driverless car. As its name suggests, it doesn’t require a human driver behind the wheel. For safety, self-driving cars must be able to “see” what’s going on around them. To do this, they mainly use three “eyes” radar, lidar and cameras. Radar works by sending out radio waves that bounce off (反射) the surfaces of objects (物体). It can tell the size and speed of an object from far away. But it cannot “see” details and understands pictures in very low resolution (分辨率). That is to say, it can’t tell what the object really is. Lidar uses laser light to scan the environment. The technology works by firing millions of laser signals per second. These signals are then thrown back from the surfaces of objects and returned to a receiver. Lidar can see in higher resolution than radar. It’s able to know whether a person is facing forward or backward. However, it’s limited by weather conditions. For example, it won’t work in fog or dust. Camera technology is the best way to get a correct view of a car’s surroundings. Cameras offer the highest-resolution pictures. They are often used to read road signs. But cameras don’t work well in all weather conditions, either. Now that it can see, how does a car drive itself? First of all, a driverless car must build a map of its environment. It needs to place itself inside the map to understand its surroundings. Then the car’s computer uses information from its three “eyes” and GPS to build the map. Next, it begins its path planning. It is about finding the safest and quickest ways to a place. A driverless car will also have to consider actions such as changing ways and passing other cars. It makes a plan first. It’s similar to how we get directions when we enter an address into a map application. Then, the plan is improved in real time as the car travels. All this technology doesn’t mean self-driving cars need no human help. A safety operator often sits in the front passenger seat. He or she can stop the car in case of an emergency. 41.What can we learn from Para. 1? A.Self-driving cars have been in use. B.Self-driving cars have been popular for long. C.Self-driving cars can be seen everywhere. D.Self-driving technology is perfect at present. 42.According to the passage, which of the following statements is True? A.Radar can tell what exactly an object is. B.Lidar works well in all weather conditions. C.Cameras can see things more clearly than lidar. D.Lidar technology is used to read road signs. 43.How does a driverless car build a map of its environment? A.With the help of a map application. B.With information from its “eyes” and GPS. C.With the help of a safety operator. D.With information inside the car’s computer. 44.What’s the main idea of the passage? A.How does a car drive itself? B.Why are self-driving cars useful? C.Where are driverless cars used? D.What does an operator do in the car? 【答案】41.A 42.C 43.B 44.A 【导语】本文主要描述了无人驾驶汽车如何自驾,同时介绍了其技术细节和工作原理。 41.细节理解题。根据“ In some cities, self-driving cars have already rolled onto streets.”可知,无人驾驶汽车已经投入使用,故选A。 42.细节理解题。根据“Cameras offer the highest-resolution pictures.”可知,摄像头可以比激光雷达看得更清楚,故选C。 43.细节理解题。根据“Then the car’s computer uses information from its three ‘eyes’ and GPS to build the map.”可知,无人驾驶汽车利用其“眼睛”和 GPS 的信息构建环境地图,故选B。 44.主旨大意题。通读全文,本文主要描述了无人驾驶汽车如何自驾,同时介绍了其技术细节和工作原理,故选A。 L Chinese athletes made great break-throughs at the Paris Olympics, with Zheng Qinwen becoming the first Asian tennis player to win gold in women’s singles and swimmer Pan Zhanle breaking the world record in men’s 100-meter freestyle. Nearly 40 percent of adults from 146 countries reported having experienced worry or stress the day before the survey was carried out. And it isn’t just adults experiencing these high stress levels; experts have also found a rise in the number of children and youth. According to another study published in EurekAlert, one in five students are so stressed, they’ve considered self-harm. The huge stress they face has been proven to be harmful to their health. Stress can cause worry, anger, depression, self-harming behavior and some other problems. So how can we fight it? It might sound easier said than done, but studies have shown that the best way to deal with stress is to change your beliefs about it. The University of Wisconsin carried out a study of 30,000 Americans. Researchers asked them how much stress they had experienced in the past year and whether they believed stress was harming their health. The researchers concluded that people in the study who were facing huge stress and viewed the stress as harmful had 43 percent higher risk of dying than people who viewed stress as a helpful reply. More interestingly, those with more active beliefs about stress had the lowest risk of death out of all the people in the study, even lower than those experiencing very little stress. A separate study carried out by researchers from King’s College London and the University of Marburg showed students with more inactive beliefs about stress felt uncomfortable. They experienced headaches and tiredness during a stressful exam period, compared with students who had more inactive beliefs about stress. These two studies have proven that stress itself is not bad in fact. It is the belief that stress is bad that is bad. So stress harms your health if you think it does. 57.What’s the purpose of the first paragraph? A.To express the main idea. B.To show the writing order. C.To draw a conclusion. D.To introduce the topic. 58.The underlined word “depression” in Paragraph 2 means the state of ________. A.Protecting China: My Father’s Brave Move During War B.Staying Strong: How to Protect Yourself in the Time of War C.Siku Quanshu: Treasures Lost and Found in the War D.A Long Journey: How Zhejiang University Saved Important Books B Jordyn Perez was about to turn 8 years old when her mom suggested a new way to celebrate her birthday. “How about giving away your gifts to a children’s hospital?” her mom said. D.Victory. 8.Which could be the best title for the passage? A.Begin Early, Succeed Early B.Think Often, Practice Often C.Do Good, Feel Good D.Smile Much, Achieve Much C    Boxing is an exciting sport. How much do you know about it? In boxing, two people wear gloves and try to hit each other in a ring. Boxers train hard to get fast and strong. In a boxing match, a boxer has to be ready to move at any time. They use their fists (拳头) to hit the head, body or arms of the other boxer. One exciting part of boxing is the plan. A boxer has to think of when to hit, when to defend (防守) and how to outsmart the other boxer. That’s not easy. There is a funny film called YOLO 《热辣滚烫》about boxing. It tells a story about a girl named Du Leying. She spends a lot of time staying at home. She plans to make a change and she meets a boxing coach. With the coach’s help, Du tries hard to become a boxer. She faces many challenges, but she never gives up. The film shows that if you keep working hard and never give up, your dreams can come true. E At a community store in Hangzhou, items like beans, salt, and sugar are stored in large jars (罐子) and vegetables are placed in bamboo baskets, all without plastic packaging (外包装). Customers (顾客) bring their own cloth bags or bottles to take what they want to buy. Qiu Li opened the store with the hope of sharing the message that over-packaging and single-use plastics are harmful to the environment. The store’s sales were low in the beginning. “The items are priced a little higher because they are organic (有机的),” Qiu explained. What’s more, the new shopping method raised many questions. “Some customers point to a jar and ask if there are smaller packages,” she said. Qiu always explains to each customer that they can use their own cloth bags to take as much or as little as they want. She also offers to lend them used bottles or cloth bags. Customers are gradually getting used to this shopping method. “Although running the business is difficult, I keep doing it to encourage (鼓励) a greener lifestyle,” Qiu said. Many people in the community support Qiu’s store. Some bring boxes to the store for customers who forget their own bags. Some make cloth bags from old clothing. “It takes time to change people’s thoughts. No matter how small our efforts are, they are meaningful,” she said. 17.Why did Qiu Li open the store? A.To make lots of money. B.To make good use of her spare time. C.To encourage people to reduce packaging waste. D.To satisfy (满足) more and more customers’ needs. 18.How does Qiu Li suggest customers take the items they need? A.By bringing their own cloth bags. B.By using plastic bags provided by the store. C.By choosing items with plastic packaging. D.By borrowing bottles from other customers. 19.What can we learn from Paragraph 4? A.People don’t care much about plastic pollution. A.How to live a greener lifestyle B.A woman opens a green store C.Why we should refuse plastic bags D.A new shopping method is becoming popular F Last December, when An Lingfei, a doctor from an Inner Mongolia medical team, arrived in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda (卢旺达), he set up a center in the Masaka District Hospital. Since then, the China-Rwanda Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Treatment Center has increased (增加) in popularity. The center now receives more than 30 people daily, with most of them suffering from lower back pain or knee and ankle joint (踝关节) pain. Rwanda is known as the land of a thousand hills. People often have to walk on mountain roads year-round there, which can lead to joint stress. “TCM has great advantages in treating these diseases, and the effects are very good.” An said. “The center now provides most kinds of TCM treatments, allowing local people to experience Eastern medicine.” Naomin, a 60-year-old patient, is amazed by TCM. She was unable to walk because of serious pain in both knees and ankles. But after a month of treatment at the center, she is now able to walk around with a walking stick. “The treatment has been a big help,” she said. Another patient, Mukagatare, said that his back pain disappeared after three TCM treatments. He mentioned that doctors at the local hospitals had been unable to make a clear diagnosis (诊断) after many examinations, let alone reduce the pain. Besides treating patients, the center also educates people about TCM and Chinese culture. Up to now, TCM has spread to nearly 200 countries and areas, with its worldwide influence growing. “From treating a common cold to chronic (慢性的) and difficult diseases, TCM can all play an important role,” a Chinese doctor said. 21.Where did An Lingfei set up the TCM Treatment Center? B.There are no good ways to treat chronic diseases. C.TCM will have increasing popularity around the world. D.An’s center is mainly about studying Chinese culture. G Imagine looking through 3.7 million outfits online to find the right one. C.Worrying. D.Meaningless. H Have you heard about Black Myth: Wukong? As soon as the game came out, it led a new interest in the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West around the world. The writer of the novel is Wu Cheng’en, who is believed to create it in the 16th century based on older stories and history. The novel is mainly about a Buddhist monk named Xuanzang, takes his disciple (徒弟), including Sun Wukong the “Monkey King,” on a journey to find sutras (真经). For centuries, the novel has not only been made into films and TV shows, but also gave rise to a number of common sayings. Eyes of fire and gold In one of chapters, Wukong is locked up in a fire store as punishment after causing a mess in the Heaven. He runs into a room where the fire cannot reach. However, the smoke leaves him with an eye condition called “Fiery Eye”. Wukong’s fiery eyes allow him to see things hidden from ordinary humans, such as monsters who change shapes or become unseen. Nowadays, this phrase generally refers to someone’s ability to discover crime or cheating. For example: His lies seemed perfect. but she still saw through them with her “eyes of fire and gold”. Transform with a shake of the body “Transforming with a shaking the body” refers a kind of shapeshifting that doesn’t take much effort. The Monkey King learns “Seventy-Two Changes” from Puti Zushi. In the novel, he transforms into a bird, a tree or a temple according to different situations. Today, the phrase is often used to express a great change of situation. For example: With strong support from fairies (精灵), Cinderella transformed into the most beautiful girl at the party. Shentong Shentong refers to a set of powers. Wukong is the one who has strong powers: a jump with his jindouyun, a magical cloud he rides as a means of transport. What’s more, he has a magic stick with which he beats bad spirits. So this phrase describes a person who has strong powers. 29.Why does the writer ask the question in the first paragraph? A.To get readers interested. B.To ask readers to answer it. C.To ask readers to talk about the game. D.To get readers to read Journey to the West. 30.What does the saying “transform with a shake of the body” probably mean in Chinese? A.大显身手 B.原形毕露 C.三头六臂 D.摇身一变 31.What may the writer do next at the end of the last paragraph? A.List numbers. B.Ask a question. C.Compare facts. D.Give an example. 32.Which of the following best shows the structure of the text? A. B. C. D. I In East China’s Anhui province, there’s a famous alley (小巷), Liuchi Alley. It was reopened to visitors last year. 33.According to the passage, people go on a visit to Liuchi Alley mostly for its ________. A.nature beauty B.design style C.educational value D.new appearance 34.Which of the following is TRUE according to the story? A.The Zhangs failed in the quarrel at last. A.So they built the alley. B.As a result, they quarreled worse. C.Thus the alley was born. D.In this way, the two families became one. 36.What does the last paragraph imply (暗示) about the alley? A.It’s as good as new now. B.Tourists like its old appearance. C.Restoring it is unnecessary. D.They try to give full play to its role. J Noise alert Crying babies. Buzzing mosquitoes. Ringing car alarms. K Self-driving cars are coming fast. L Chinese athletes made great break-throughs at the Paris Olympics, with Zheng Qinwen becoming the first Asian tennis player to win gold in women’s singles and swimmer Pan Zhanle breaking the world record in men’s 100-meter freestyle. The question now is how these rising stars can grow into global (全球的) sports heroes. The rise of Zheng and Pan in Paris repeated the victory of past Chinese sports heroes like Yao Ming, Liu Xiang, and Li Na. Yao Ming made great achievements in the NBA, Liu Xiang set a world record in men’s 110m hurdles, and Li Na won medals at the French and Australian Opens, inspiring (激励) countless fans and athletes. However, to become global sports heroes, Zheng and Pan should follow such rules: Firstly, they should always do well in their sports. Continuous top-level performance is important. Secondly, keeping an active public image (形象) and high media visibility (媒体曝光率) is necessary, along with building a large fan base. They should have an attractive personality, inspire teammates and fans, and show strong role model qualities. Good communication with media and supporters, as well as abilities in cross-cultural communication, is also important to global influence. Lastly, a strong support system is necessary, including training, technology, logistics, and commercial promotion (商业宣传) teams. N In a small, remote town, a schoolboy and his classmates are having lunch at school. Their meals are simple but fresh. They can enjoy the fresh and healthy meals thanks to a special program of the United Nations. The boy is Tian Zhiping. He lives with his grandfather in the small town in Central China’s Hunan Province. His parents have left the town to work in the city. The town is so remote that it was hard and expensive for local schools to get fresh food, especially fruits and vegetables. They could only provide packaged (包装好的) food for their students. Luckily, things changed in 2018 when the WFP (World Food Programme) China office worked with local governments to start a new program. This program encouraged local farmers to play a role in providing school meals. Tian Zhiping’s grandfather, Tian Qingxiang, became one of the 139 farmers chosen to provide vegetables for local schools. The program gives him seeds and fertilizer (种子和肥料) worth 500 yuan a year. “Now my grandchild gets in-season, fresh, safe and healthy food that I grew in an eco-friendly (环的) way.” Tian Qingxiang said, “And I can get about 6,000 yuan a year from selling crops.” Over the past six years, about 8000 children in several places including Guangxi, Gansu and Sichuan have taken part in similar programs. These programs hope to improve the health and development of children in poor areas, and help them grow up in healthier and more developed environments. 53.What was the main problem faced by local schools before? A.Fresh Food Problem. B.Running out of money. C.Having few workers. D.Shortage of cooking tools. 54.According to the passage, we know Tian Zhiping ________. A.To improve farmers’ life. B.To provide fresh food to schools. C.To help children’s health growth. D.To encourage eco-friendly farming. O According to Gallup’s annual Emotions report, people all over the world are more stressed than ever before.
