1.The physicists propose that our attention ________(direct) towards the use of special methods of thinking and acting. 根据“propose”一词可知,从句应该用虚拟语气“should do sth.”;再者根据“our attention”和“direct”的关系可知,两者是动宾关系,因此用被动语态,而should可省略,故答案是(should) be directed 。 2.The air pollution is worse and worse. The government suggests that people ____ (go ) to work by subway or by bus. 故答案是(should) go。 3.She required at the meeting that measures ________ (take ) to protect the environment which we rely on to live. 又measures和动词take之间为被动关系,即should be taken, should可以省略,故答案是(should) be taken。 4.The boy insisted that he ________(be) old enough, and ________(give) the right to make his own choice. 故答案是was和(should) be given。 5.He commanded that his men ________(fire). 6.We requested that the task _____________ (complete) by the end of this week. 7.Her pale face suggested that she ______ ( be) ill and her parents suggested that she ______(have ) a medical examination. 故答案是was和 have。 8.It is recommended that he ______(get) help from his doctor about his illness. 故答案是(should) get。 9.My suggestion is that a meeting ________(hold) to discuss it. 10.The workers insisted that they               ( give) a free lunch every noon and the boss had to do that. 故答案是(should) be given。 Look at the dark clouds. It looks as if it is going to rain. (1)若表示与现在事实不符,从句谓语动词用一般过去时did/were; Paul talks about the theory as if he knew everything. She looks as if she were ten years younger. (2)若表示与过去事实不符,从句谓语动词用过去完成时had done; They began to talk warmly as if they had known each other for long. (3)若表示与将来事实不符,从句谓语动词用would/could/might/should + do。 He opened his mouth as if he would say something. 1.The soldier remembers everything exactly as if it_______ ( happen) yesterday. 2.The teacher treats the pupil as if he ______ (be) her own child. 3.It was John who broke the window. Why are you talking to me as if I (do) it? 4.Live each day as if we ______ (die) tomorrow, which is a good rule to live by. 故答案是would / could / might / should die。 5.I felt lost and anxious as if I ___________(miss) something of value. 6.What makes me annoyed is that they completely ignore these facts as if they never _________ (exist). 7.The secretary always acts as if she ______(be) the real boss of the company. 8.He felt so cold that he kept trembling as if he (be) unable to endure it any more. 9.The disappointed girl listened as if she          (turn) into a stone. 故答案是had been turned。 10.Childhood memories came back to me so clearly, as if the events            (happen) only yesterday. School days are supposed to be the best days of your life and part of that experience usually involves some unforgettable physical activities. I asked some people to give me their memories of what happened to them on the sports field and beyond, and this is what they told me. Cup winners When I was about ten, the football team from our year unexplainably made it to the cup final of the local schools’ league. I say unexplainably because I only remember us losing nearly every match we played. Anyway, in the final I set up the winning goal, a brilliant cross to my mate David who headed the ball in just before the final whistle. I still have a photograph of the team holding the cup. Forest hike I remember having to lead a group of eight boys on a school expedition for the best part of two days when I was a teenager. Even though we got lost at one point, I managed to keep them all together and get them from one end of a large forest to the other and back by sheer(纯粹的) force of will. I was chosen to be the leader, I think because I was the only one who knew how to read a map! When we arrived back at the campsite, we found out that all the other groups had cheated and hitched(搭便车) most of the way instead… I felt a bit stupid, but also rather proud of myself at the same time for having done it properly. Learning to swim, learning to drown I learned to swim comparatively late, I suppose. I was maybe nine years old but my brother had a painful experience that nearly put him off for life. We lived in the USA for a while and had access to a university pool where the coaches had trained the American Olympic team. In those days, though, their idea of teaching kids how to swim was to tie a can to their ankles with a bit of string, throw them in the deep end, and shout “Swim!”. I am surprised my brother survived at all. He could only have been about six at the time. 1. The passage mainly talks about ________. A. tips on taking part in outdoor activities B. how people consider physical activities C. why people love outdoor activities D. people’s experiences of physical activities 2. What did the first person do in the school’s cup final? A. He scored the winning goal. B. He provided the pass for the final goal. C. He blew the whistle at the end of the game. D. He lost every game in the season. 3. The underlined word “expedition” in the third paragraph has the same meaning to “________”. A. match B. deal C. trip D. research 4. It can be learned that when the third person was young, ________. A. he learned swimming from the same coach as his elder brother B. the swimming coach’s teaching method was rather inconsiderate C. his family lived near a university pool for about ten years D. the American Olympic team had no swimming pool of its own 【答案】1.D 2.B 3.C 4.B 【导语】 本文是一篇记叙文。 School days are supposed to be the best days of your life and part of that experience usually involves some unforgettable physical activities. Anyway, in the final I set up the winning goal, a brilliant cross to my mate David who headed the ball in just before the final whistle.(在决赛中我制造了胜利的良机,我的队友大卫在终场哨声吹响前头球破门。) Even though we got lost at one point(迷路)和When we arrived back at the campsite(回到营地)提示可以猜测,他们参加的是学校探险旅行。故选C。 4. In those days, though, their idea of teaching kids how to swim was to tie a can to their ankles with a bit of string, throw them in the deep end and shout “Swim!”. Every week, even every day, we have lots of different tasks to finish. 1 However, the advantages of volunteering can be huge. The 1 came when I was 15. After a few months of planning and 2 , I was ready to spend the second semester of my first high school year 3 an exchange student in Australia. 4 in Perth was one of the most exciting moments of my life. I realized then that there was no turning back. The family I would live with was waiting for me, and it would only be five days 5 the new school year. The school I attended was 6 my school back in the States. I was quite 7 at first, especially never having been to a new school — even in the US. Everything went without 8 , though. The teachers were welcoming and the students were friendly. The most 9 time was travelling with other exchange students around Australia during our semester break. The few weeks we 10 together were full of amazing activities. At the end of our 11 in Australia, we had three weeks to share our stories and help each other deal with leaving. It was only 12 that our last day together was filled with tears. We packed our camp, 13 e-mail addresses and gathered together for a final good-bye. Upon coming home, an open mind was again important. Resettling home took time and 14 , but at last I made it. All the while, I was thoughtful to letting my family and friends know how happy I was to be home and how much I had missed them — though the experience is still 15 with me. When she is home, the retired office worker often talks in a friendly female voice that asks about her day. A few kilometers away, the same voice helped 83-year-old Deanna Dezern when her friend died. In New York state, it plays games and music for92-year-old Marie Broadbent. And in Washington state, it helps 83-year-old Jan Worrell make new friends. The women are some of the first in the United States to receive the robot ElliQ made by Intuition Robotics. The company and other officials say it is the only device (设备) using artificial intelligence(AI) to help older Americans from loneliness. The device looks like a small table light, which has an eyeless, mouthless head that lights up and turns. It remembers each user’s interests and their talks, helping create a special experience with each new discussion. It can be as deep as the meaning of life or as light as a small joke. ElliQ also plays music and provides creative or encouraging sayings. On a video screen that comes with it, it will show different cities and places of interest. The device leads exercises, asks about the owner’s health, and gives reminders to take medicines and drink water. It can also support video calls and contact family, friends, or doctors in an emergency. Intuition Robotics says none of the conversations are heard by the company, with the information staying on each owner’s device. Charlotte Mather-Taylor is director of the Broward County, Florida, Area Agency on Aging. She said the COVID-19 pandemic and its following results left many older people more disconnected. Her agency has provided 300 ElliQs which, she believes, help the situation. She said, “We’ve seen very positive results with it. People generally like her and she makes them smile and brings joy.” Brigham Young University professor Julianne Holt-Lunstad, who studies the effects of loneliness on health, worries that a device like ElliQ might have short-term helpful effects but it could make people less likely to seek human communication. She told The Associated Press that the difficult feeling of loneliness should push people to reconnect socially. 4. What makes the robot ElliQ unique? A. It is made by Intuition Robotics in America. B. It can play games and music for the old. C. It uses AI to help the old fight loneliness. D. It can talk in a friendly female voice. 5. What do we know about ElliQs? A. They are intelligent and well-rounded women. B. They can have deep discussions with the owners. C. They are small table lights with human-like heads. D. They may send the conversations to the company. 6. What can be inferred from Holt-Lunstad’s comment? A. ElliQs will push more people to reconnect socially. B. ElliQs make no difference to smoothing out loneliness. C. ElliQs will have a promising future for their good effects. D. ElliQs will have less helpful effects in the long term. 7. What’s the main purpose of the passage? A. To introduce a special AI device. B. To show us how to operate a new device. C. To offer some advice on removing loneliness. D. To call for more care for the old. 4. C 5. B 6. D 7. And are listening to and viewing content as effective as reading the written word when covering the same material? The answers to both questions are often “no”. The reasons relate to a variety of factors, including reduced concentration, an entertainment mindset (心态) and a tendency to multitask while consuming digital content. When reading texts of several hundred words or more, learning is generally more successful when it’s on paper than onscreen. A large amount of research confirms this finding. The benefits of print reading particularly shine through when experimenters move from posing simple tasks — like identifying the main idea in a reading passage — to ones that require mental abstraction — such as drawing inferences from a text. The differences between print and digital reading results are partly related to paper’s physical properties. With paper, there is a literal laying on of hands, along with the visual geography of distinct pages. People often link their memory of what they’ve read to how far into the book it was or where it was on the page. But equally important is the mental aspect. Reading researchers have proposed a theory called “shallowing hypothesis (假说)”. According to this theory, people approach digital texts with a mindset suited to social media, which are often not so serious, and devote less mental effort than when they are reading print. Audio (音频) and video can feel more engaging than text, and so university teachers increasingly turn to these technologies — say, assigning an online talk instead of an article by the same person. However, psychologists have demonstrated that when adults read news stories, they remember more of the content than if they listen to or view identical pieces. Digital texts, audio and video all have educational roles, especially when providing resources not available in print. However, for maximizing learning where mental focus and reflection are called for, educators shouldn’t assume all media are the same, even when they contain identical words. 1. What does the underlined phrase “shine through” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Seem unlikely to last. B. Seem hard to explain. C. Become ready to use. D. Become easy to notice. 2. What does the shallowing hypothesis assume? A. Readers treat digital texts lightly. B. Digital texts are simpler to understand. C. People select digital texts randomly. D. Digital texts are suitable for social media. 3. Why are audio and video increasingly used by university teachers? A. They can hold students' attention. B. They are more convenient to prepare. C. They help develop advanced skills. D. They are more informative than text. 4. What does the author imply in the last paragraph? A. Students should apply multiple learning techniques. B. Teachers should produce their own teaching material. C. Print texts cannot be entirely replaced in education. D. Education outside the classroom cannot be ignored. D 2. A 3. A 4. 根据前文“When reading texts of several hundred words or more, learning is generally more successful when it’s on paper than onscreen. A large amount of research confirms this finding.(当阅读几百字或更多的文本时,在纸上学习通常比在屏幕上学习更成功。大量的研究证实了这一发现)”可知,在纸上学习更有成效,以及后文“when experimenters move from posing simple tasks — like identifying the main idea in a reading passage — to ones that require mental abstraction — such as drawing inferences from a text.(当实验人员从提出简单的任务(如识别阅读文章的主旨)转移到需要思维抽象的任务(如从文本中推断)时)”推知,此处应是表达“当实验者从简单的任务转向需要精神抽象的任务时,纸质阅读的益处就变得显而易见”之意,所以shine through应是“显而易见”之意,和D项意思相近。 根据第四段“But equally important is the mental aspect. Reading researchers have proposed a theory called “shallowing hypothesis (假说)”. According to this theory, people approach digital texts with a mindset suited to social media, which are often not so serious, and devote less mental effort than when they are reading print.(但同样重要的是精神层面。 故选A项。 根据第五段“Audio (音频) and video can feel more engaging than text, and so university teachers increasingly turn to these technologies — say, assigning an online talk instead of an article by the same person.(音频和视频可能比文本更具吸引力,因此大学教师越来越多地转向这些技术,例如分配在线讲座而不是同一作者的文章)”可知,音频和视频比文本更能吸引学生的注意力,所以大学教师越来越多地使用这些技术。故选A项。 根据最后一段“Digital texts, audio and video all have educational roles, especially when providing resources not available in print. However, for maximizing learning where mental focus and reflection are called for, educators shouldn’t assume all media are the same, even when they contain identical words.(数字文本、音频和视频都具有教育作用,尤其是在提供印刷品中无法获得的资源时。 B (2024新课标1卷)In the race to document the species on Earth before they go extinct, researchers and citizen scientists have collected billions of records. Today, most records of biodiversity are often in the form of photos, videos, and other digital records. Though they are useful for detecting shifts in the number and variety of species in an area, a new Stanford study has found that this type of record is not perfect. “With the rise of technology it is easy for people to make observations of different species with the aid of a mobile application,” said Barnabas Daru, who is lead author of the study and assistant professor of biology in the Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. “These observations now outnumber the primary data that comes from physical specimens (标本), and since we are increasingly using observational data to investigate how species are responding to global change, I wanted to know: Are they usable?” Using a global dataset of 1.9 billion records of plants, insects, birds, and animals, Daru and his team tested how well these data represent actual global biodiversity patterns. “We were particularly interested in exploring the aspects of sampling that tend to bias (使有偏差) data, like the greater likelihood of a citizen scientist to take a picture of a flowering plant instead of the grass right next to it,” said Daru. Their study revealed that the large number of observation-only records did not lead to better global coverage. Moreover, these data are biased and favor certain regions, time periods, and species. This makes sense because the people who get observational biodiversity data on mobile devices are often citizen scientists recording their encounters with species in areas nearby. These data are also biased toward certain species with attractive or eye-catching features. What can we do with the imperfect datasets of biodiversity? “Quite a lot,” Daru explained. “Biodiversity apps can use our study results to inform users of oversampled areas and lead them to places — and even species — that are not well-sampled. To improve the quality of observational data, biodiversity apps can also encourage users to have an expert confirm the identification of their uploaded image.” 5. What do we know about the records of species collected now? A. They are becoming outdated. B. They are mostly in electronic form. C. They are limited in number. D. They are used for public exhibition. 6. What does Daru’s study focus on? A. Threatened species. B. Physical specimens. C. Observational data. D. Mobile applications. 7. What has led to the biases according to the study? A. Mistakes in data analysis. B. Poor quality of uploaded pictures. C. Improper way of sampling. D. Unreliable data collection devices. 8. What is Daru’s suggestion for biodiversity apps? A. Review data from certain areas. B. Hire experts to check the records. C. Confirm the identity of the users. D. Give guidance to citizen scientists. B 6. C 7. C 8. 根据第一段“Today, most records of biodiversity are often in the form of photos, videos, and other digital records. 根据第二段“These observations now outnumber the primary data that comes from physical specimens (标本), and since we are increasingly using observational data to investigate how species are responding to global change, I wanted to know: Are they usable? 和第四段““We were particularly interested in exploring the aspects of sampling that tend to bias (使有偏差) data, like the greater likelihood of a citizen scientist to take a picture of a flowering plant instead of the grass right next to it,” said Daru. 根据第四段““We were particularly interested in exploring the aspects of sampling that tend to bias (使有偏差) data, like the greater likelihood of a citizen scientist to take a picture of a flowering plant instead of the grass right next to it,” said Daru. 以及第五段“This makes sense because the people who get observational biodiversity data on mobile devices are often citizen scientists recording their encounters with species in areas nearby.( 这是有道理的,因为在移动设备上获得观察生物多样性数据的人通常是公民科学家,他们记录了他们在附近地区与物种的接触。)” 根据最后一段“Biodiversity apps can use our study results to inform users of oversampled areas and lead them to places — and even species — that are not well-sampled. To improve the quality of observational data, biodiversity apps can also encourage users to have an expert confirm the identification of their uploaded image. (2024新课标1卷)Not all great writers are great spellers. If you want to be published, it's vital to submit a perfect, professionally presented manuscript (原稿). ____1____ No editor is likely to tolerate a writer who does not take the trouble to spell words correctly. I keep two reference books close-by on my desk: dictionary and thesaurus I don't trust my laptop's spellchecker. ____2____ Of course, these days there are plenty of online dictionaries and thesauruses, but I'm old-fashioned enough to prefer a hard cover and pages I can leaf through with my fingers. I use the Concise Oxford Dictionary and the Collins Thesaurus. ____3____ It should give you a precise definition of each word, thus differentiating it from other words whose meanings are similar, but not identical. It will also usually show how the word is pronounced. In addition, I have an old two-volume copy of the Shorter Oxford Dictionary, picked up a few years ago in a bookshop sale for just 99 pence. Of course, with its 2,672 pages, it's not exactly short. It contains around 163,000 words, plus word combinations and idiomatic phrases. ____4____ However, if I need to check the origin of a word or to look up examples of its usage, there's nothing better. For well over a hundred years the most influential English dictionary was Samuel Johnson's Dictionary of the English Language published in 1755. "To make dictionaries is dull (乏味) work," wrote Johnson, illustrating one definition of "dull". ____5____ A few minutes spent casting your eye over a page or two can be a rewarding experience. A. I don't often use this dictionary. B. It takes no account of the context. C. But I still don't want to replace them. D. But a dictionary can be a pleasure to read. E. Of course, a dictionary is not only for spelling. F. That means good grammar and no spelling mistakes. G. Dictionaries don't always give you enough information. F 2. B 3. E 4. A 5. 【1题详解】 上文“If you want to be published, it’s vital to submit a perfect, professionally presented manuscript(如果你想发表,提交一份完美的、专业的手稿是至关重要的)”提到了完美的、专业的手稿的重要性,手稿中不能有语法和拼写错误是专业的手稿的要求之一。F选项“That means good grammar and no spelling mistakes.(这意味着语法正确,没有拼写错误。)” 【2题详解】 上文“I don’t trust my laptop’s spellchecker.(我不相信我笔记本电脑的拼写检查器。)”提到了作者不相信电脑的拼写检查器;下文“Of course, these days there are plenty of online dictionaries and thesauruses, but I’m old-fashioned enough to prefer a hard cover and pages I can leaf through with my fingers.(当然,现在有很多在线词典和同义词库,但我是一个守旧的人,更喜欢精装的书和能用手指翻阅的书页。)” 【3题详解】 下文“It should give you a precise definition of each word, thus differentiating it from other words whose meanings are similar, but not identical. It will also usually show how the word is pronounced.(它应该给出每个单词的精确定义,从而将其与其他含义相似但不相同的单词区分开来。 提到了字典的功能,E选项“Of course, a dictionary is not only for spelling.(当然,字典不仅仅是用来拼写的。)” 【4题详解】 下文“However, if I need to check the origin of a word or to look up examples of its usage, there’s nothing better.(然而,如果我需要检查一个单词的来源或查找其用法的例子,没有什么比这更好的了。)”提到了字典的使用情况,A选项“I don’t often use this dictionary.(我不经常用这本字典。)” 故选A项。 【5题详解】 上文“ “To make dictionaries is dull (乏味) work, ” wrote Johnson, illustrating one definition of “dull”.(约翰逊在解释“dull”的一个定义时写道:“编字典是件无聊的工作(乏味)。”)”提到了编写字典是件乏味的工作,下文“A few minutes spent casting your eye over a page or two can be a rewarding experience.(花几分钟的时间浏览一两页是一种有益的体验。)”提到浏览字典也是一种阅读的乐趣,D选项“But a dictionary can be a pleasure to read.(但是一本字典读起来是一种乐趣。)” (2024新课标1卷)Heatherwick Studio recently built a greenhouse at the edge of the National Trust’s Woolbeding Gardens. D. It can be learned that when the third person was young, ________. A. he learned swimming from the same coach as his elder brother B. the swimming coach’s teaching method was rather inconsiderate C. his family lived near a university pool for about ten years D. the American Olympic team had no swimming pool of its own Every week, even every day, we have lots of different tasks to finish. 1 However, the advantages of volunteering can be huge. The Rainbow Bookstore, which was a legendary fixture in the neighbourhood, 1 (close) after 50 years of business. It had a café selling organic food and there 9 (be) more community events. I happened to meet Casey, who was still working there. He was so pleased 10 (see) that everything he wanted it to offer to the community is still there. A (2024新课标1卷)Is comprehension the same whether a person reads a text onscreen or on paper? B (2024新课标1卷)In the race to document the species on Earth before they go extinct, researchers and citizen scientists have collected billions of records. A.
