(Write “China” on the blackboard.) C - h - i - n - a, China. And the abbreviation is CN. Repeat after me. Ss: China, CN. (2) The United States Show a picture of the Statue of Liberty. T: This is the Statue of Liberty. It is in the United States. (Write “the United States” on the blackboard.) The United States. We can also say US for short. Repeat. Ss: The United States, US. (3) The United Kingdom Show a picture of Big Ben. T: Here is Big Ben. It is in the United Kingdom. (Write “the United Kingdom” on the blackboard.) The United Kingdom. UK is its abbreviation. Say it together. Ss: The United Kingdom, UK. (4) Australia Show a picture of the Sydney Opera House. T: Look at this beautiful building. It is the Sydney Opera House in Australia. (Write “Australia” on the blackboard.) A - u - s - t - r - a - l - i - a, Australia. And AU is its abbreviation. Ss: Australia, AU. (5) Canada Show a picture of the CN Tower. T: This is the CN Tower. It is in Canada. (Write “Canada” on the blackboard.) C - a - n - a - d - a, Canada. CA is the abbreviation. Read it. Ss: Canada, CA. 2. Practice new words (1) Flash - card game Show the word cards one by one quickly. Let students read the words as fast as they can. (2) Spellingpetition Divide students into groups. Say a word, and let students in each group write it on the small blackboard. The group that writes correctly and quickly gets a point. (三)Practice 1. Listen and repeat Play the recording of the words and sentences in the textbook. Let students listen carefully and repeat. 2. Sentence practice (1) Model dialogue T: (Ask a student) Where are you from? S1: I'm from China. T: (Ask another student) Where are you from? S2: I'm from the United States. (2) Pair work Let students practice the dialogue “Where are you from?” “I'm from...” in pairs. Walk around and help students correct their pronunciation and grammar. 3. AU) Canada (A. CA B. US) Answer: A, B, A, B, A. (四)Production 1. Group work: Make a country introduction card Divide students into groups of 4 - 5. Each group chooses a country. They need to write the name of the country, its abbreviation, a famous place, and a simple sentence to introduce the country on the card. For example, for China: Country: China (CN) Famous place: The Great Wall Introduction: China is a big country with a long history. 2. Presentation Each group sends a representative to present their country introduction card in front of the class. The other students listen carefully and can ask questions. (五)Summary 1. Review words and sentences T: Let's review the countries we learned today. (Point to the words on the blackboard.) What are they? Ss: China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada.
