There are crowded streets outside. There are people everywhere. There are noises all around them. But they do not seem to see them or hear them. They just stay in their homes worrying about being lonely. They feel so, because of the lack of friends. With the help of the Internet, they may talk with the person ten thousand miles away, but they do not even know their neighbor’s name. I’m one of these people. I live alone in a lonely house near a small farm about seven hours ride from Los Angeles, but I’m not lonely. I have quite a lot of friends. I visit them and talk with them in my home every day. Some of them tell me about events that took place one or two thousand years ago. Some tell me what is happening on some stars tens of light years away from the earth. I visit them and talk with them at any time I like, early in the morning late in the afternoon or even at midnight, which never tires them. These friends of mine are something that are very easy to get — books. 16. A good teacher can make difficult ideas easy to understand. A. SVO B. SVOC C. SP D. S V IO DO 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】考查句子结构。 分析句子结构可知,A good teacher 在句中作主语,can make为谓语动词;difficult ideas 在句中作宾语;easy to understand在句中作宾语补足语。 B。 17. A. will look B. have been looking C. look D. have looked 【答案】B 【解析】 【详解】考查时态。 Children all over the country是复数,谓语用复数形式。故选B项。 18. A. recorded; advancing B. recording; advancing C. recording; advanced D. recorded; advanced 【答案】D 【解析】 【详解】考查非谓语动词和形容词。 20. The national college entrance examination, or gaokao, is known as the most competitive test for Chinese students. Do students in other countries also need to take a standardized test to get into university? South Korea holds the College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) in November each year. The CSAT plays an important role in the country’s education. On test day, bus and subway frequency increases to make sure that students can get to the test sites in time. Japan is trying to reform its standardized national college entrance exam. In January 2022, Common Test for University Admissions took the place of the National Center Test for University Admissions, which had been adopted since 1990. The new exam aims to put emphasis on the ability of students to discover and solve problems by themselves. The American College Test(ACT) and Scholastic Assessment Test(SAT) are the two main college entrance exams taken by students in the US. While SAT tests a student’s ability to learn, the ACT tests a student’s educational development. Both tests normally take place seven times throughout the year. Students can retake the exams for a better score. In the UK, there’s no standardized test for college admission. Instead, each college has their own admission criteria. These criteria often only include submission of transcripts(成绩单) and participation in an interview. Yet, there are subject-specific exams used by some colleges. 46. What is the purpose of the new test in Japan? A. To improve students’ learning environments. B. To assess students’ educational backgrounds. C. To assist more students in getting high scores. D. To test students’ thinking and practical abilities. 47. What can American students do if they want a better university? A. Take entrance exams repeatedly. B. Have only one chance to be tested. C. A month before my first marathon, one of my ankles was injured and this meant not running for two weeks, leaving me only two weeks to train. Yet, I was determined to go ahead. I remember back to my 7th year in school. In my first P.E. class, the teacher required us to run laps (圆圈) and then hit a softball. I didn’t do either well. He later told me that I was “not athletic”. The idea that I was “not athletic” stuck with me for years. When I started running in my 30s, I realized running was a battle against myself, not about competition or whether or not I was athletic. It was all about the battle against my own body and mind. A test of wills! The night before my marathon I dreamed that I couldn’t even find the finish line. I woke up sweating and nervous, but ready to prove something to myself. Shortly after crossing the start line, my shoe laces (鞋带) became untied. So I stopped to readjust Not the start I wanted! At mile 3, I passed a sign: “GO FOR IT, RUNNERS!” By mile17, I became out of breath and the once injured ankle hurt badly. Although my ankle was very painful, I stayed the course walking a bit and then running again. By mile 21, I was so hungry! As I came to mile 23, I could see my wife waving a sign. She is my biggest fan. She never minded the alarm clock sounding at 4 a.m. or questioned my expenses on running. I was one of the final runners to finish. But I finished! And I got a medal. In fact, I got the same medal as the one that the guy who came in first place had. Determined to be myself, move forward, free of shame and worldly labels (世俗标签), I can now call myself a “marathon winner”. 49. How did the author feel a month before the marathon? A. Anxious. B. Frightened. C. Well prepared. D. Confident. 50. What does the underlined phrase “ not athletic” mean in paragraph 2? A Not strong in figure. B. Not active in sports . C. Not talented in sports. D. Not determined to sports. 51. How was the author’s first marathon? A. He made it. B. He quit halfway. C. He got the first prize. D. He walked to the end. 52. What does the story mainly tell us? A. One is never too old to learn. B. More haste, less speed. C. A winner is one with a great effort of will. D. A man owes his success to his family support. 49. A 50. C 51. A 52. Zhou Chengyu was in charge of the rocket connector system--described as a vital role. Social media users have been celebrating her brilliance and referring to her as pride of the country. Her story in particular has drawn the public’s attention given her young age. Being the youngest of the team, Zhou Chengyu was born in 1996 in the province of Guizhou. She is certainly not “old” enough compared with her colleagues, but she is known at work as "Big Sister” as a sign of respect. Once in a 3-km running contest, she actually beat half of her male counterparts. Although work shifts are not uncommon at the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site, each shift requires huge courage because of the different background knowledge. However, for Zhou Chengyu, she experienced multiple (多种的) positions in 5 launching tests and now she is the youngest commander at the site. Despite carefulness and high responsibility at work, she is just like her peers in normal life. Eating snacks and shopping are her favorite free-time activities. Her high school teacher remembers her as tough and determined. “She always had a dream of becoming scientist,” said her physics teacher. According to her colleague, Zhou Chengyu was very surprised when she found out she went viral online. She said that she was happy when she saw people online regarding her as the pride of the country, and yet she kept saying that she was “nobody but normal worker at a launch site” and there are a lot more people just like her going unnoticed while doing the hardest job to guarantee a better future for the Chinese space program. She also said that she wished to remain her current status (现状) and continue doing her work with or without the popularity. 53. What makes Zhou Chengyu the pride of the country? A. Her young age. B. Her great courage. C. Her vital role in her work. D. Her responsibility at work. 54. Which of the following words can best describe Zhou Chengyu? A. Learned and anxious. B. Respectable and generous. Her story in particular has drawn the public’s attention given her young age.(周承钰负责火箭连接系统——这是一个至关重要的角色。社交媒体用户一直在庆祝她的才华,称她为国家的骄傲。考虑到她的年龄,她的故事尤其引起了公众的关注。)”可知,周承钰成为国家的骄傲是因为她负责火箭连接系统,在工作中担任着重要作用。故选C项。 【54题详解】 推理判断题。根据第四段中“Her high school teacher remembers her as tough and determined. “She always had a dream of becoming scientist,” said her physics teacher.(在她的高中老师的印象中,她是一个坚强而坚定的人。“她一直梦想成为科学家,”她的物理老师说。)”可知,周承钰是一个非常坚定的人,再根据最后一段中“and yet she kept saying that she was “nobody but normal worker at a launch site”(但她一直说她“只是发射场的普通工人”)”可知,周承钰是一个非常谦虚的人。由此可知,周承钰是一个坚定且谦虚的人。故选D项。 【55题详解】 词义猜测题。根据最后一段中“She also said that she wished to remain her current status (现状)and continue doing her work with or without the popularity.(她还说,她希望保持目前的状态,无论是否受欢迎,都要继续她的工作。)”可知,周承钰在网络上受到了大家的欢迎。由此可知,划线词所在句“According to her colleague, Zhou Chengyu was very surprised when she found out she went viral online.”意为“据她的同事说,当周承钰发现自己在网上走红时,她非常惊讶。”即划线词意为“走红”与C项became very popular“变得很受欢迎”意思一致。故选C项。 【56题详解】 主旨大意题。根据文章大意以及第二段中“Social media users have been celebrating her brilliance and referring to her as pride of the country.(社交媒体用户一直在庆祝她的才华,称她为国家的骄傲。)”以及全文都在叙述有关她是祖国骄傲的事迹,可知,本文的最佳标题是“年轻的骄傲”。故选A项。 D Chinese students always complain that they’re under great pressure and don’t get enough sleep. But they may be surprised to learn that they’re much luckier than their peers in South Korea and Japan, according to a recently published report, conducted by Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences on the physical and mental health of senior high school students in the three Asian countries. According to the study among nearly 6,000 high school students in the three countries, Chinese students are the tallest but poorest in physical fitness. Chinese students are on average 168.17cm, compared with 167.61cm for South Korean students and 164.70cm for Japanese students. Chinese students asked for sick leave more than students in other countries. About 72 percent of Korean students never asked for sick and injury leave during high school, compared to 53 percent for Japanese students and 45 percent for Chinese students. Moreover, Chinese students drink alcohol and smoke earlier than Korean and Japanese students. Around 70 percent of Chinese students have drunk alcohol, compared to 50 percent for Korean and Japanese students. According to the survey, Japanese and South Korean students suffer more pressure than their Chinese peers. Statistics show 16 percent of students in China said they experienced mental pressure often over the past year, while the numbers in Japan and South Korea were 33 percent and 47 percent respectively. Their worries come from “study”, “future after graduation”, “friendships” and “relationship with their parents”. To go with stress, 57.9 percent of Korean students sleep the least, less than six hours a day, compared with 46.6 percent of Japanese students and 30 percent of Chinese students. More Chinese students were satisfied with their physical appearance, double that of students in the survey from Japan and South Korea. The report said that over half of students in South Korea had tried to lose weight in the past year, while in China the figure was only 22 percent. In measures of self-worth, such as “I think I am valuable” and “I think I am successful”, “I can complete many things”, “I won’t give up to failure,” Chinese students showed greater self-confidence than students in Japan and South Korea. 57. What’s the main idea of the second paragraph? A. Chinese teenagers are tallest, but most unhealthy. B. Chinese students drink most alcohol and smoke earliest. C. Japanese students ask for least sick leave. D. Chinese students ask for sick leave most often. 58. What can be inferred from the passage? A. Chinese students are luckiest, yet most unsuccessful. B. Chinese students are confident in themselves and luckier. C. Japanese students are most stressed. D. South Korean students sleep the least. 59. What does the underlined word “that” in the last paragraph refer to? A. The height. B. The percentage. C. The weight. D. The number. 60. A Take entrance exams repeatedly. B. Have only one chance to be tested. C. Sit a lot of subject-specific exams. D. Meet each college’s admission criteria. 48. In which country do colleges hold their own entrance exams based on the text? A. South Korea. B. Japan. C. America. D. The UK. B You can’t imagine how terrible I felt at that time. The night before my marathon, I dreamed that I couldn’t even find the finish line. I woke up sweating and nervous, but ready to prove something to myself. Shortly after crossing the start line, my shoe laces (鞋带) became untied. So I stopped to readjust (重新调整). Not the start I wanted! A. Not strong in figure. C A 24-year-old female space commander has become a viral sensation on Chinese social media for her work. An Outgoing Commander D Chinese students always complain that they’re under great pressure and don’t get enough sleep. 57.
