Pumpkin (南瓜)carving at Halloween is a family tradition. We visit a local farm every October. In the pumpkin field, I compete with my three brothers and sister to seek out the biggest pumpkin. My dad has a rule that we have to carry our pumpkins back home, and as the eldest child I have an advantage — I carried an 85-pounder back last year.
This year, it was hard to tell whether my prize or the one chosen by my 14-year-old brother, Jason, was the winner. Unfortunately we forgot to weigh them before taking out their insides, but I was determined to prove my point. All of us were hard at work at the kitchen table, with my mom filming the annual event. I’m unsure now why I thought forcing my head inside the pumpkin would settle the matter, but it seemed to make perfect sense at the time.
With the pumpkin resting on the table, hole uppermost, I bent over and pressed my head against the opening. At first I got jammed just above my eyes and then, as I went on with my task, unwilling to quit, my nose briefly prevented entry. Finally I managed to put my whole head into it, like a cork (软木塞) forced into a bottle. I was able to straighten up with the huge pumpkin resting on my shoulders.
My excitement was short-lived. The pumpkin was heavy. “I’m going to set it down, now,” I said, and with Jason helping to support its weight, I bent back over the table to give it somewhere to rest. It was only when I tried to remove my head that I realized getting out was going to be less straightforward than getting in. When I pulled hard, my nose got in the way. I got into a panic as I pressed firmly against the table and moved my head around trying to find the right angle, but it was no use. “I can’t get it out!” I shouted, my voice sounding unnaturally loud in the enclosed space.

阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
One fall, my wife Elli and I had a single goal: to photograph polar bears. We were staying at a research camp outside “the polar bear capital of the world”-the town of Churchill in Manitoba, Canada.
Taking pictures of polar bears is amazing but also dangerous. Polar bears-like all wild animals should be photographed from a safe distance. When I'm face to face with a polar bear, I like it to be through a camera with a telephoto lens. But sometimes, that is easier said than done. This was one of those times.
As Elli and I cooked dinner, a young male polar bear who was playing in a nearby lake sniffed, and smelled our garlic bread.
The hungry bear followed his nose to our camp, which was surrounded by a high wire fence. He pulled and bit the wire. He stood on his back legs and pushed at the wooden fence posts.
Terrified, Elli and I tried all the bear defense actions we knew. We yelled at the bear, hit pots hard, and fired blank shotgun shells into the air. Sometimes loud noises like these will scare bears off. Not this polar bear though-he just kept trying to tear down the fence with his massive paws(爪子).
I radioed the camp manager for help. He told me a helicopter was on its way, but it would be 30 minutes before it arrived. Making the best of this close encounter(相遇), I took some pictures of the bear.
Elli and I feared the fence wouldn’t last through 30 more minutes of the bear's punishment. The camp manager suggested I use pepper spray. The spray burns the bears’ eyes, but doesn't hurt them. So I approached our uninvited guest slowly and, through the fence, sprayed him in the face. With an angry roar(吼叫), the bear ran to the lake to wash his eyes.

好朋友山中偶遇暴风雨,化险为夷返回营地
A high-pitched scream stopped Laura Douglas in her tracks. Spinning around on the narrow dirt path, she thought that her cousin Cassie was in danger. Instead, Cassie was knee deep in flowers that covered the meadow(草地)like a quilt.
"Cassie! You scared me to death!" Laura scolded, her voice echoing through the meadow. "I am sorry," Cassie, absorbed in her photography, didn't notice the thick fog rolling in, consuming the nearby mountains. "Not again!" Laura complained, her eyes shifting to the approaching clouds. "We gotta go!"
Cassie's focus remained on her camera, capturing the short-lived beauty of the moment. Laura tied a red scarf around her hair, "Let's go back to the campsite." The girls quickly ran down the winding path, the meadow now covered by a thick fog and a steady, cold rain. The road turned slippery, and they had to move slowly to avoid sliding down.
"It's dangerous! We need shelter now!" Cassie screamed after a loud crack of thunder, the storm's strength increasing rapidly. Laura's keen eyes found a small cave in the rock face, partly hidden by overhanging branches. It wasn't much, but it offered a chance to escape the rain.
"Cassie, over here!" Laura called out, her voice barely carrying over the wind.
Cassie, wet and shaking, stumbled towards the place of Laura's voice. As she approached, she could see the shelter. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than nothing.
"Smart thinking, Laura," Cassie said, her teeth chattering(打颤)with cold as she pressed her backpack close to her chest. The backpack, a tough and waterproof(防水的)model, had been a gift from her father, an experienced hiker who had insisted on its numerous pockets and sections for emergency supplies. Little did they know, his advice would prove invaluable on this day.

熊孩子保险箱脱险
I worked at a local station of the Berlin fire department. We got an alert(警报) around 8:25 pm that Friday and rushed to the fire engine, where the printout from the dispatcher(调度员) said there was a nine-year-old boy locked in a safe.
I asked myself: if it were a safe, would it be airtight? I was aware that it might already be too late by the time we arrived. I had to plan for a bad outcome. On the other hand, if we were in time, how long would it take us to open the safe? I knew it would be an incredibly difficult task. It’s what safes are designed for―not to be opened.
It took less than five minutes to reach the property. When I saw a woman crying on the street,
I knew the situation was serious. She was the boy’s mother and she led us into the basement. She told us the boy was alive and we started talking to him; he was very calm. We asked how it had happened: during a game of hide and seek with his five-year-old brother, he had thought the safe would be a good place to hide.
The boy’s parents had got the house from his mother’s father. The unlocked safe had been there when they moved in and was in an area they didn’t use much. The boy’s little brother had shut the safe, then, when he couldn’t open it again. The only person who knew the combination was the boy’s late grandfather.
From the outset, the biggest priority was getting oxygen to the boy. We got oxygen from the hospital. The boy said that he could feel a thin stream of air. I asked his parents if anyone had opened the safe before and they said no. So we had to guess a six-digit code(密码). We started typing them in―but we had to wait 10 minutes between each attempt before we could try again. So quickly we tried them all. No luck.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在相应位置作答。
We were fully prepared at this point to open the safe by force, starting with a drill.

Then, just as we started to make the first cut, my workmate typed in the correct code.

Paragraph 2

【答案】
Paragraph 1
It was five or six minutes though it felt much longer. Dad was summoned less, it seemed, in expectation of practical help than to make sure he didn't miss out on the spectacle. I heard him propose calling the fire department." Stay tuned," said she'd mentioned she was going to upload the video to Facebook but it was only then I realized she d been filming the whole time. The video cuts before my rescue-Dad got me to push my head farther into the pumpkin so Mom could reach in and undo the rubber band round my ponytail. I emerged with squash-conditioned hair, a sore chin and my nose plugged with pulp.
Paragraph 2
The video was posted on the Monday before Halloween. By the end of that day, it had over 1.000 views. People asked my mom to put it on YouTube, and by Wednesday morning we were getting 5:00 a.m. calls from TV breakfast shows and then the international media-the video started racking up hundreds of thousands of views. When I went on a youth camp, I was recognized by children I'd never met. The pumpkin also became a minor celebrity. Passersby and trick-or-treaters would and ask, "Which is Rachel's pumpkin?" before taking selfies with it.

Paragraph1: A few minutes later, the bear headed back to our camp.
________________________________________________________________________________________
Paragraph2: At that very moment, the helicopter arrived.
________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】
A few minutes later, the bear headed back to our camp, then we realized the spray had only angered him even more, for he seemed much fiercer this time and violently pushed the fence like mad. My heart raced wildly, not knowing what to do. At this critical moment, Elli grabbed several pieces of garlic bread and threw them over the fence. It worked! The bear stopped the attack and ran to the bread. But it wasn’t long before he ate up all the bread and came back again.
At that very moment, the helicopter arrived. “Thank goodness we are saved!” Elli cried out. Once the helicopter landed, we got onto it in no time, excited and relieved. When we were safe on the helicopter up in the air, I was amazed to the spot that the bear had finally torn down the fence and ran towards the food we left behind. I quickly took out the camera and photographed the rare scene- we were robbed by a polar bear.

【答案】
"Check your backpack," Laura instructed, her voice being hopeful. "We might have something that can help us start a fire." Cassie nodded, her fingers trembling(独立主格) as she unzipped the side pocket of her backpack状语从句. She was relieved to find a flashlight, a compact emergency blanket and a small, waterproof pouch containing waterproof matches非谓语动词作后置定语. "Bingo!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with a mix of surprise and relief(独立主格). They quickly set to work, using the waterproof matches to ignite a small fire with the dry leaves and twigs(非谓语动词短语做伴随动作) Laura had collected(定语从句). The survival blanket was spread out, providing a thin layer of insulation against the cold, damp ground(非谓语动词做后置定语).
As night fell(状语从句), the storm finally began to die down. The girls, exhausted but determined, decided to make a move. They knew the trail would be risky in the dark(宾语从句), but staying in the shelter wasn't an option either. Using the flashlight(非谓语动词短语做伴随动作), they carefully navigated the slippery path, following the markers(非谓语动词短语做伴随动作) they had set earlier(定语从句). The fog had lifted, and the moon provided just enough light to see by. Hours later, they finally reached the edge of the forest. The lights of the campsite were a welcome sight. Cassie grinned, her teeth no longer chattering(独立主格), "We made it back." Laura nodded, her eyes meeting Cassie's(独立主格). Their adventure had been terrifying, but it had also been a testament to their bond and their survival skills. And as they sat by the fire(状语从句), sipping hot chocolate(非谓语做伴随动作), they knew they would never forget the day they had faced the storm together(定语从句).

No luck.

【答案】
We were fully prepared at this point to open the safe by force, starting with a drill. We taught the boy to put his hands over his ears while we were drilling and to take them off only when we shook the safe. He was sweaty and his clothes were wet from breathing in that tiny space for so long. But he was so calm the whole time, following our commands and talking to us. We made a hole in the back. It was dangerous, but I was confident that we could get him out safely.
Then, just as we started to make the first cut, my workmate typed in the correct code. We’d asked the mother again to write down any significant date and it turned out to be her brother’s birthday. We were amazed. We had been trying for three hours and now all of a sudden this little boy was standing in front of me, rubbing his eyes. His parents were so happy that he was out. He had a hug with his tearful mother, a checkup from the doctor, and then went for a shower happily.
