Unit 3 Conservation Lesson 3 The Road to Destruction 一、文本分析 【What】本节课是第三单元的一节说明文阅读课,主题语境为人与社会。文章第一部分是关于英国汽车使用的现状以及过度使用汽车对个人和社会造成的影响;第二部分主要介绍了有关绿色出行的五点建议及作者的出行选择。 【Why】通过描述英国汽车滥用导致的一系列问题及绿色出行的建议,增加学生有关交通及说明文的知识积累,培养其深入思考的探究精神,以此来提高学生的社会责任感,培养绿色出行意识,共建美好家园。 【How】本文采用的是描述性的说明方法和总分式结构,通过举例、对比、列数据等说明方式,让读者比较直观清晰地了解到了英国的汽车滥用所带来的影响和由此提出的有关绿色出行的建议。 二、学情分析 近年来,保护环境是建设人类命运共同体背景下的极为重要的一环,而绿色出行是保护环境的非常重要的举措。学生通过自身的经历和其他媒体已经深刻感受到了各种交通问题给个人及社会带来的麻烦及影响。该班学生已具备利用阅读技巧,针对不同问题获取信息的能力,也具备一定的小组合作能力,且该班为理科班,学生思维活跃,整体英语水平较好。但口语表达能力稍有欠缺,不善于英文表达。通过本节课的活动,锻炼学生的概括能力及语言表达能力,激发学生绿色出行的热情,培养学生的团结协作能力。 3、 教学目标 学完本课后,学生能够: 1. 学习理解方面:获取、梳理、描述有关英国交通和绿色出行的事实性信息;归纳、总结及概括文章,形成对文章内容的结构化知识。 2. 应用实践方面:比较、描述和阐释汽车的优点和缺点;分享对交通堵塞的感受及绿色出行的建议;学会应用思维导图。 3. 迁移创新方面:通过个人思考、同伴讨论、小组合作,思考关于如何绿色出行,尝试设计关于绿色出行的海报,增强学生的社会责任感,培养绿色出行意识。 4、 重难点 重点: 分享对交通堵塞的感受及绿色出行的想法;通过不同的阅读技巧快速获取文章信息,培养阅读习惯及意识;学会应用思维导图来概括文章内容。 难点:将所学知识及已有经验联系起来,表达自己的观点;思考如何将“毁灭之路”转化为“建设之路”,并制作关于绿色出行的海报。 五、教学步骤 Step 1 Lead-in 1. Talk about the advantages and disadvantages about using cars. 2. Watch some pictures about traffic jams, and then think about the question and share their opinions. Q:How do you feel when you get stuck in traffic jams? 设计意图:创设情景,让学生熟悉主题,激活学生感受,引发思考,为文本铺垫语言。 Step 2 While-reading Help students to understand the title and master the type and structure of the passage.(scanning) Q:What is the text type of the passage? A. Narration (记叙文). B. Argumentative Essay (议论文). C. Expository Writing (说明文). D. News Report (新闻报道). Part 1 1. Lead students skim Part 1 quickly to finish the following questions. (skimming) (1) How many cars are there on the roads? (2) By how much has the number of cars gone up in the last 20 years? (3) How many people die every year in vehicle accidents? (4) How many deaths per year are caused by air pollution? 2. Guide students to pay attention to the figures and key points in Part 1 and get a main idea. Q:What's the main idea of part 1? A. The deaths and cancers in Britain. B. The traffic accidents in Britain. C. The traffic jams in Britain. D. The traffic problems in Britain. 3. Pair work: Let students read Part 1 more carefully and complete the notes in Activity 4 in pairs, and then discuss the possible solutions to the problems. ( Detailed reading) Part 2 1. Let students skim para.1 in Part 2 and think about the question: (skimming) Q:What are our excuses for using cars? 2. Let students read Part 2 and complete the notes in Activity 5. ( skimming) 3. Ask students to make a summary according to the mind map and then make a presentation about it and their reflection. Q:How do you understand the title The road to Destruction? A.
