It’s hard to find Alice Munro in the media. Even after she won the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature, the Canadian writer just appeared for a quick interview and then dropped out of sight. On Dec 29th, she still didn’t seek the spotlight when she was named one of the five Women of the Year by the Financial Times.
In Munro’s eyes, ordinary lives always hide larger dramas. So she records what we casually think of as the everyday actions of normal people. She often focuses on life in her hometown, a small village in Ontario which she is most familiar with. She writes about the ordinary things in the village —trees in the Ontario wilderness, poor country schools and long last illnesses. Above all, she talks about girls and women who have seemingly ordinary lives but struggle against daily misfortune.
She has a special talent for uncovering the extraordinary in the ordinary. These are ordinary people, ordinary stories, but she has the magic. Her precise language, depth of detail and the logic of her storytelling have made her stories inviting.
Runaway, one of Munro’s representative works, is a good example of her writing style. One of the stories centers on the life of an ordinary woman Carla, who lives in a small Canadian town with her husband Clark. The story slowly forms a picture of Carla, trapped in a bad marriage, her unhappiness building into desperation until she decides to flee. The story of Carla is a story of the power and betrayals of love. It is about lost children and lost chances that we can all find in life. There is pain beneath the surface, like a needle in the heart.
Since she published her first collection of short stories in 1968, Munro has won many awards, with the Nobel Prize being her biggest honor. On Oct 10th, 2013, the Nobel Prize committee named Munro the “master of the contemporary short story”.

Recently, Noreen and her research team have found one more reason that you should stick to this principle—forgiving somebody who has hurt you makes it easier for you to forget the unhappy memory, according to their new study.
In the study, researchers asked volunteers to read descriptions of 40 different situations that contained bad actions such as stealing, lying and cheating. Imagining being the victims (受害者), volunteers then had to decide whether they would be able to forgive. Two weeks later, volunteers took part in a memory test. In the test, they were shown a series of words related to the situations they had read about and then were asked to recall certain ones.
The results showed that people were less likely to remember the details of the unpleasant experiences if they had found forgiveness in their hearts. In contrast, if they hadn’t forgiven the mistake, they could always remember what had happened.
However, forgiving someone who has hurt you is always easier said than done. So Noreen hopes that one day in the near future research will give rise to powerful therapeutic (有疗效的) tools that will enable people to “forgive and forget” more effectively.

【答案】46.B 47.A 48.D 49.C 50.D
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,讲述的是在面对他人伤害时,处理这个问题的最好方式就是“宽恕和忘记”。
46.细节理解题。分析第二段中的““It is well established that learning to forgive others can have positive benefits for one’s physical and mental health,” Saima Noreen, a scientist at the University of St. Andrews, UK, told the Huffington Post.(“众所周知,学会原谅他人可以对一个人的身心健康产生积极的好处,”英国圣安德鲁斯大学的科学家Saima Noreen告诉赫芬顿邮报)”可知,Saima Noreen后面的内容为其同位语,所以Saima Noreen应是科学家。故选B项。
47.细节理解题。根据第三段中的“Recently, Noreen and her research team have found one more reason that you should stick to this principle—forgiving somebody who has hurt you makes it easier for you to forget the unhappy memory, according to their new study.(最近,Noreen和她的研究团队发现了另一个你应该坚持这个原则的理由 - 根据他们的新研究,原谅伤害过你的人会让你更容易忘记不快乐的记忆)”可知,研究发现,宽恕伤害过你的人使你更容易忘记不快乐记忆,所以,宽恕帮助我们忘记不快乐的记忆。故选A项。
48.细节理解题。根据第四段中的“In the study, researchers asked volunteers to read descriptions of 40 different situations that contained bad actions such as stealing, lying and cheating. Imagining being the victims (受害者), volunteers then had to decide whether they would be able to forgive. Two weeks later, volunteers took part in a memory test.(在这项研究中,研究人员要求志愿者阅读40种不同情况的描述,这些情况包含偷窃,撒谎和作弊等不良行为。想象自己是受害者,志愿者必须决定他们是否能够原谅。两周后,志愿者参加了记忆测试)”可知,这个实验是先阅读40种不同的含有不良行为的情况,然后再将自己想象为受害者,接着确定是否原谅他们,两周后再参加记忆测试,该研究过程与D项顺序吻合。故选D项。
49.词义猜测题。根据第四段中的“Two weeks later, volunteers took part in a memory test.(两周后,志愿者参加了记忆测试。)”可知,两周后要参加记忆测试,结合“In the test, they were shown a series of words related to the situations they had read about and then were asked to recall certain ones.(在测试中,他们被展示了一系列与他们所读到的情况相关的单词,然后被要求回忆某些单词)”的内容可知,划线单词所在的句子表述的是“记忆测试”的细节,故划线单词可猜测为“记忆,记住”的意思。故选C项。
50.推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“So Noreen hopes that one day in the near future research will give rise to powerful therapeutic (有疗效的) tools that will enable people to “forgive and forget” more effectively.(因此,诺琳希望在不久的将来的某一天,研究将产生强大的治疗工具,使人们能够更有效地“原谅和忘记”)”可知,Noreen希望在将来能有一种强大的治疗工具可以帮助人们更高效地“宽恕和忘记”,由此可推断,在未来很可能会出现治疗工具。故选D项。

The practice of students endlessly copying letters and sentences from a blackboard is a thing of the past. With the coming of new technologies like computers and smartphone, writing by hand has become something of nostalgic (怀旧的)skill. However, while today’s educators are using more and more technology in their teaching, many believe basic handwriting skills are still necessary for students to be successful---both in school and in life.
Virginia Berninger, professor of educational psychology at the University of Washington, says it’s important to continue teaching handwriting and help children acquire the skill of writing by hand.
Berninger and her colleagues conducted a study that looked at the ability of students to complete various writing tasks---both on a computer and by hand. The study, published in 2009, found that when writing with a pen and paper, participants wrote longer essays and more complete sentences and had a faster word production rate.
In a more recent study, Berninger looked at what role spelling plays in a student’s writing skills and found that how well children spell is tied to know well they can write. “Spelling makes some of the thinking parts of the brain active which helps us access our vocabulary, word meaning and concepts. It is allowing our written language to connect with ideas.” Berninger said.
Spelling helps students translate ideas into words in their mind first and then to transcribe(转换)“those words in the mind written symbols on paper or keyboard and screen,” the study said. Seeing the words in the “mind’s eye” helps children not only to turn their ideas into words, says Berninger, but also to spot spelling mistakes when they write the words down and to correct then over time.
“In our computer age, some people believe that we don’t have to teach spelling because we have spell checks,” she said. “But until a child functional spelling ability of about a fifth grade level, they won't have knowledge to choose the correct spelling among the options given by the computer.”
51.What makes writing by hand a thing of the past?
A.The absence of blackboard in classroom.
B.The use of new technologies in teaching.
C.The lack of practice in handwriting.
D.The popular use of smartphones.
52.Berninger’s study published in 2009 .
A.focused on the difference between writing by hand and on a computer.
B.indicated that students prefer to write with a pen and paper.
C.found that good essays are made up of long sentences.
D.discussed the importance of writing speed.
53.Which of the following best shows the role of spelling?
A.Spelling improves one’s memory of words.
B.Spelling ability is closely related to writing ability.
C.Spelling benefits the translation from words into ideas.
D.Spelling slows down finding exact words to express ideas.
54.What does “mind’s eye” in paragraph 5 mean?
A.Window. B.Soul
C.Picture. D.Imagination.
55.What conclusion could be drawn from the passage?
A.Computers can help people with their choice of words.
B.Spell checks can take the place of spelling teaching.
C.Handwriting still has a place in today’s classrooms.
D.Functional spelling ability develops fast in the fifth grade.
【答案】51.B 52.A 53.B 54.D 55.C
【分析】这是一篇说明文。随着现代科技的发展,书写渐渐被人们所忽视。但是Berninger的研究表明,书写在现代教学中应该占有一席之地。
51.细节理解题。根据第一段“With the coming of new technologies like computers and smartphone, writing by hand has become something of nostalgic (怀旧的)skill.(随着像电脑和智能手机的使用,书写已经成为了人们怀旧的东西)。所以教学中使用新技术使得手写成为过去。故选B项。
52.细节理解题。根据第三段首句“Berninger and her colleagues conducted a study that looked at the ability of students to complete various writing tasks---both on a computer and by hand.(Berninger和她的同事做了个研究,想看看学生用电脑和用手工完成各种写的任务的情况)可知,伯宁格在2009年发表的研究集中在手写和电脑书写的区别上。故选A项。
53.细节理解题。根据第四段首句“In a more recent study, Berninger looked at what role spelling plays in a student’s writing skills and found that how well children spell is tied to know well they can write.(在更近的一次研究中,Berninge想看看拼写在学生写作技巧中所发挥的什么作用,结果发现字写得好的孩子文章也写得好)。所以拼写能力与写作能力密切相关能说明拼写的作用。故选B项。
54.词义猜测题。根据第五段“Spelling helps students translate ideas into words in their mind first and then to transcribe(转换)“those words in the mind written symbols on paper or keyboard and screen,” the study said.”可知,拼写帮助学生把想法转化为他们思想中的文字,再把思想中的文字转换到纸上。所以看到想象中的文字,不仅能帮助孩子们把想法变成文字,而且能发现拼写错误并改正它们。故判断出换线的词语为“想象”。故选D项。
55.推理判断题。通断全文可知,首段说明随着新技术的到来,手写已经成为过去,之后文章中部提到手写的好处。根据最后一段进一步阐明书写的重要根据最后一段“In our computer age, some people believe that we don’t have to teach spelling because we have spell checks,” she said. “But until a child functional spelling ability of about a fifth grade level, they won't have knowledge to choose the correct spelling among the options given by the computer.”在我们的计算机时代,有些人认为我们不必教拼写,因为我们有拼写检查,”她说。“但是直到孩子的功能拼写能力达到五年级的水平,他们才知道如何在计算机提供的选项中选择正确的拼写。由此判断出“书写在现代教学中应该占有一席之地”。故选C项。
第三部分:写作(共两节,满分35分)
第一节:阅读表达(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,并根据短文内容完成下列各题。
Have you ever gotten stung by a bee? Well, for 18-year-old Mikaila Ulmer from the US, her first bee sting at the age of 4 was a special experience. It inspired her to make a difference and turned her into an entrepreneur.
The bee sting scared Mikaila, but it also made her interested in the insect. She soon learned how important bees are for the planet and how they are at risk of dying out.
At not even 5 years old, Mikaila wanted to do something to help save the bees. With her parents’ help, she set up a lemonade stand in her front yard. She used her grandmother’s homemade lemonade recipe and added a little bit of honey to it. The money from every lemonade she sold went to bee protection groups.
But Mikaila wanted to do more. She made her special recipe into a product, called Me and the Bees Lemonade. At age 10, she went on a TV show with her dad to try to get funding and public attention. It worked. Now, more than 10 years since her first lemonade, five different drink products are procurable at many restaurants and stores across the country.
In 2020, Mikaila brought out a book about her experience as an entrepreneur called Bee Fearless, Dream Like a Kid. As she explained to CNBC, “I always say that it’s important to dream like a kid and that (as a kid) it’s the perfect age to start figuring out what you enjoy and trying new things and taking risks.”
56.What did Mikaila want to do after she was first stung by a bee? (no more than 10 words)
57.How did Mikaila make money at age 5? (no more than 10 words)
58.What does the underlined word “procurable” in Para. 4 mean? (1 word)
59.What is Bee Fearless, Dream Like a Kid? (no more than 5 words)
60.What do you think of Mikaila? And give your reasons. (no more than 20 words)
【答案】56.Do something to help save the bees. 57.By selling homemade lemonade with honey. 58.Available. 59.A book about Mikaila’s experience. 60.I think she is kind and creative because she donates money to protect the bees and creates her own business.
【导语】这是一篇记叙文。主要介绍了Mikaila由于儿时被蜜蜂蜇伤的经历,开始了解蜜蜂的重要性,并开创了自己的企业,成为了成功的企业家的故事。
56.考查细节理解。根据第二段第二句“ She soon learned how important bees are for the planet and how they are at risk of dying out.”(她很快就了解到蜜蜂对地球的重要性,以及它们面临灭绝的危险。)及第三段第一句“At not even 5 years old, Mikaila wanted to do something to help save the bees.”(还不到5岁的时候,Mikaila就想做点什么来帮助拯救蜜蜂。)可知,在她第一次被蜇伤后,她了解到了蜜蜂的重要性,想做点什么来帮助拯救蜜蜂。故答案为Do something to help save the bees.
57.考查细节理解。根据第三段最后两句“She used her grandmother’s homemade lemonade recipe and added a little bit of honey to it. The money from every lemonade she sold went to bee protection groups.”(她用了祖母自制的柠檬水配方,并加了一点蜂蜜。她卖出的每一杯柠檬水的收入都捐给了蜜蜂保护组织。)可知,5岁时,她通过售卖自制的蜂蜜柠檬水挣钱。故答案为By selling homemade lemonade with honey.
58.考查词义猜测。根据第四段第一句“But Mikaila wanted to do more. She made her special recipe into a product, called Me and the Bees Lemonade. ”(但Mikaila想做得更多。她把她的特殊配方做成了一种产品,叫做“我和蜜蜂柠檬水”。)及最后一句“Now, more than 10 years since her first lemonade, five different drink products are procurable at many restaurants and stores across the country.”(现在,从她的第一杯柠檬水到现在已经有十多年了,有五种不同的饮料产品在全国各地的许多餐馆和商店procurable)可知,Mikaila现在已经创造了5种不同的饮料产品,这些产品在全国各地的餐馆和商店都可以买到。故推知procurable意为“可获得的”。故答案为Available.
59.考查细节理解。根据最后一段第一句“In 2020, Mikaila brought out a book about her experience as an entrepreneur called Bee Fearless, Dream Like a Kid.”(2020年,Mikaila出版了一本关于她作为企业家的经历的书,名为《无畏的蜜蜂,像孩子一样梦想》。)可知,“Bee Fearless, Dream Like a Kid”是一本关于她的经历的书。故答案为A book about Mikaila’s experience.
60.开放性题目。要求讲述自己对Mikaila的看法并说明理由。从Mikaila探究蜜蜂并致力于帮助拯救蜜蜂的行动及开创企业可知,她充满爱心和创新能力。故答案为I think she is kind and creative because she donates money to protect the bees and creates her own business.或I think she has a strong will because she sticks to her interest for a long time without giving up.

Every one of us may have been hurt by others—either by their words or actions. The best way to deal with the problem is to “forgive and forget”.
“It is well established that learning to forgive others can have positive benefits for one’s physical and mental health,” Saima Noreen, a scientist at the University of St. Andrews, UK, told the Huffington Post.

61.Dear Chris,
How nice to hear from you! In your letter you asked me how to keep healthy. I would like to give you some advice.
As we know, we teenagers grow very fast, so we need plenty of nutritious foods, such as fish, beans, fresh fruit and vegetables. Besides, you should take physical exercise regularly instead of studying all the time. What’s more, having enough sleep is very important. So I advise you to have at least eight hours of sleep every day and not to stay up too late. Only in this way can we keep fit.
Yours,
Li Jin
