When we come across a word we don’t know, we can keep reading and guess its meaning.
For example, if we don’t know the word “envelope” in “a red envelope”, we may recognise it as a noun because it follows the adjective “red”. The next sentence tells us there is money in it. From this, we can guess what envelope means!
Subskill
Guessing unknown words.

This method was developed by John Venn and is helpful for illustrating similarities and differences in a clear way. It's often used in science, math, and education to compare categories like animal species or product offerings.
