And you relate to the character so well that you can’t help but wonder if the author had somehow observed your own life? Well, that is Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables for me. There are many instances in the book where I particularly felt connected to little Anne, like the one where she does a performance at a school concert. Although she has gone up on stage several times before, this is the time she gets a taste of stage fright. The same thing happened to me during a poetry competition in high school. Never did I find the stage as intimidating as I did on that day. There’s another situation where her friends don’t miss home as much, while Anne is terribly homesick. I could imagine how Anne feels. I’ve always wondered how people can move out of a place where they’ve spent their entire childhood and not feel even a pinch of sorrow. Whether it is the world of imagination that she loves to weave, or the experience of growing up as a lonely child, or the beautiful moments of daydreaming, or her fondness for nature, Anne is me, through and through. As I read through the chapters learning about her chattering nature asa kid that grew quieter during adolescence and the respect for her teachers, I saw myself in her. I grew so close to Anne and her friendships her school and her dear little Green Gables and its inhabitants, that I couldn’t control my tears when I finished reading the last chapter. That’s what books do. They give you the freedom to live inside their fictional world even when you’re aware that you’re only a reader who exists outside. And although your existence inside that fictional world is imaginary and temporary, you end up cherishing that experience for a lifetime. 4. What does the underlined word “intimidating” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Horrible. B. Competitive. C. Beautiful. D. Boring. 5. What does the author think of those who don’t feel homesick? A. She can’t imagine their childhood. B. She appreciates their independence. C. She can’t understand their behavior. D. She sympathizes with their sorrow. 6. What kind of person is Anne Shirley? A. Imaginative and nature-loving. B. Proud and dream-pursuing. C. Creative but lonely-minded. D. Competitive but self-centered. 7. Why did the author cry when she finished the book? A. She was moved by Anne’s tough experience. B. She hated to part with her beloved characters. C. She failed to understand the story in the book. D. She was unhappy with the ending of the book. C Cats have long been known for their independence, but this doesn’t mean they don’t form strong emotional bonds with their owners. Studies have shown that cats have such ability partly due to a special hormone (激素), which is released during social interactions and bonding. Cats are known for their purring (猫发出的呼噜声), and rubbing against their owners as a way of showing affection. They may also follow their owners around, bring them “gifts” like dead mice, or lick them with their tongues. While these behaviors may not be as obvious as a dog waving its tail, they are clear signs of a cat’s appreciation for their owner. As a cat owner, you can do something to strengthen your bond with your beloved friend. Creating a safe and comfortable environment for your cat is essential to building a strong bond. Cats need a space where they feel secure and at ease, with access to food, water, and a litter box. Additionally, cats are natural climbers and love to be up high. Consider installing some cat shelves to give your cat a bird’s eye view of the surroundings. Playing with your cat is not only a fun way to spend time together, but it can also strengthen your bond with it. Cats love to play toys like string, feathers, or balls that can get them moving and engaging with you. Every cat is different and may have their own unique preferences. Some cats prefer interactive toys, while others enjoy playing with solo toys. Cats still value their personal space. It’s important to respect your cat’s boundaries and not force it into interactions it’s not comfortable with. Recognizing and responding to your cat’s body language can help you understand its needs. For example, if your cat’s ears are flattened, it may be a sign that it’s feeling stressed. In these situations, it’s best to give your cat some space and allow it to relax on its own terms. 8. What have studies found about cats? A. They are the most independent animals. B. They are able to release some hormones. C. They love humans partly out of nature. D. They enjoy interaction with other cats. 9. How does a cat most probably show its love to the owner? A. By giving the owner a dead mouse. B. By running after the owner crazily. C. By sticking out its tongue. D. By happily waving its tail. 10. What should the owner do when the cat feels anxious? A. Comfort it with a hug. B. Put it on a high shelf. C. Play a fun toy with it. D. Allow it to stay alone. 11. What’s the text mainly about? A. Whether cats appreciate their owners. B. What environment your cats will love. C. Why cats enjoy playing with humans. D. How you can bond well with your cats. D Walking into my grandmother’s house, I watch her hands move in a fast-weaving motion as she’s knitting a blanket. Those finished blankets with beautiful color patterns will be donated to children’s hospitals. Her favorite pastime is creating, which provides her with satisfaction and purpose in life. The rest of my family have joined different art groups. We think it’s beneficial for our health, and we are right. Creating arts and crafts reduces levels of cortisol, the body’s stress hormone, past research has shown. Now, a new study by Dr. Helen Keyes, a British psychologist, and fellow researchers has found that creating arts and crafts can significantly boost well-being by providing meaningful spaces for expression and achievement. Although prior studies have shown its positive effects on people with mental health conditions, the general population has been understudied, according to the study, which was published recently in Frontiers in Public Health. That’s why they sampled members of the general population without diagnosed (诊断的) illnesses to see how arts and crafts might contribute to well- being and may reduce loneliness outcomes in everyday life. The researchers analyzed a sample of 7,182 participants living in England (age 16 and over). “We kept our analysis to arts and crafts at a broad level, rather than focusing on specific hobbies, as we know that people’s preferences vary and they will find the craft or creative activity that works best for them,” Keyes said. More than 37% of survey respondents confirmed they had taken part in at least one craft activity over the last year. Their reported happiness, life satisfaction and sense of lives being worthwhile were positively correlated to participating in arts and crafts. But creating arts and crafts was not associated with decreased loneliness, which requires further investigation. “A sense of mastery is important for well-being, and there is inherently a sense of mastery associated with crafting and creating art; that is, people can see their progress and be proud of what they are producing,” Keyes said. 12. Why does the author’s grandmother keep knitting? A To communicate with kids. B. To improve physical fitness. C. To find the meaning of life. D. To set an example to others. 13. In which aspect is the new study different from the previous ones? A. The number of the chosen hobbies. B. The type of the studied participants. C. The methods of analyzing the data. D. The results of making arts and crafts. 14. What may be studied next about creating arts and crafts? A. Whether it improves people’s health. B. Why it fails to help reduce loneliness. C. How it is applied to hospital treatment. D. What other benefits it brings to people. 15. Which of the following may Dr. Helen Keyes agree with? A. Creating art brings people a sense of achievement. B. Some art activities are best for people’s well- being. C. The old and the sick benefit most from creating art. D. The progress in learning art leads people to success. The health benefits of fiber are many and fiber mainly plays its role in energy regulation. ____16____, fiber is unique because it has a low energy density(密度)that counters some other foods and plays a key role in managing one’s appetite and feelings of fullness. But when one 9-year-old boy tried to do a good deed on a Good Friday, it was the start of a friendship no one saw coming. It’s essential to lead with kindness and empathy, which 9-year-old Kelvin Ellis tries to do. He’s always wanted to help a homeless person but never had any money. So when he had a dollar in his pocket and saw a man sitting outside in the corner one day, he was excited to make a difference. Little did he know who he was about to approach. One early March morning in Baton Rouge, Matthew Busbice woke early to the sound of the fire alarm. He threw on some old boots and rushed outside of his flat, where he was relieved to hear that it was a false alarm. Still, the man was up, so he wandered across the street to his usual coffee spot for a cup. Inside, Busbice ordered a coffee and decided it was a nice enough morning to do his daily meditation (冥想) outside. He sat in a corner, and closed his eyes while waiting for his order. Next door, Ellis was waiting for his father to finish a medical appointment. He saw Busbice sitting there with his eyes closed and took him for a homeless man. The kid had one dollar in his pocket and realized his chance to make a difference had come. He walked right up to Busbice. Busbice was sitting there, slowly opening his eyes and saw a kid coming at him. What he saw next shocked him — a dollar bill came at him. “Excuse me, sir, are you homeless? Because if you are, here’s a dollar,” Ellis said. Busbice was confused and didn’t know what to do. Instead of accepting the money, Busbice offered to buy Ellis breakfast. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Busbice was so touched by Ellis’s kindness that he wanted to reward him. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力:1—5 ABACB 6—10 ABCAA 11—15 CBCAC 16—20BCBCB 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 高三英语试卷 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? I grew so close to Anne and her friendships, her school and her dear little Green Gables and its inhabitants, that I couldn’t control my tears when I finished reading the last chapter. 4. A 5. C 6. A 7. The same thing happened to me during a poetry competition in high school.(虽然她以前上过几次台,但这是她第一次尝到怯场的滋味。 故选A。 根据第二段“I’ve always wondered how people can move out of a place where they’ve spent their entire childhood and not feel even a pinch of sorrow.(我一直在想,人们怎么能离开一个他们度过了整个童年的地方,却一点也不感到悲伤)”可知,和Anne一样,作者也是个恋家的人,因此她对不想家的同学们感到不理解。 根据第三段“Whether it is the world of imagination that she loves to weave, or the experience of growing up as a lonely child, or the beautiful moments of daydreaming, or her fondness for nature, Anne is me, through and through. As I read through the chapters learning about her chattering nature asa kid that grew quieter during adolescence and the respect for her teachers, I saw myself in her.(无论是她喜欢编织的想象世界,还是作为一个孤独的孩子长大的经历,还是白日梦的美丽时刻,还是她对自然的喜爱,安妮都是我,彻头彻尾的。 故选A。 根据最后一段“I grew so close to Anne and her friendships, her school and her dear little Green Gables and its inhabitants, that I couldn’t control my tears when I finished reading the last chapter. 8. C 9. A 10. D 11. They may also follow their owners around, bring them ‘gifts’ like dead mice, or lick them with their tongues.(猫以发出呼噜声而闻名,它们会摩擦主人以示爱意。 故选A项。 根据最后一段“Cats still value their personal space. It’s important to respect your cat’s boundaries and not force it into interactions it’s not comfortable with. Recognizing and responding to your cat’s body language can help you understand its needs. For example, if your cat’s ears are flattened, it may be a sign that it’s feeling stressed. In these situations, it’s best to give your cat some space and allow it to relax on its own terms.(猫仍然珍视自己的私人空间。 由文章第三段“As a cat owner, you can do something to strengthen your bond with your beloved friend.(作为一个养猫的人,你可以做一些事情来加强你与心爱的朋友的联系)”以及全文内容可知,文章主要介绍了如何与你的猫建立良好的关系。故选D项。 D Walking into my grandmother’s house, I watch her hands move in a fast-weaving motion as she’s knitting a blanket. A. To communicate with kids. C 13. B 14. B 15. 根据倒数第二段“But creating arts and crafts was not associated with decreased loneliness, which requires further investigation. 根据最后一段““A sense of mastery is important for well-being, and there is inherently a sense of mastery associated with crafting and creating art; that is, people can see their progress and be proud of what they are producing,” Keyes said. Inside Busbice ordered a coffee and decided it was a nice enough morning to do his daily meditation (冥想) outside. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Instead of accepting the money, Busbice offered to buy Ellis breakfast. Ellis checked with his father and then returned. Busbice ordered a sandwich and some drink for the boy, and then he and Ellis started chatting. Soon, an unlikely friendship emerged. Eventually, Ellis learned that the man he had mistaken for homeless was a millionaire and had appeared on reality television. “You’re that famous?” Ellis asked his new friend when he found out, who responded with a smile. Busbice was so touched by Ellis’s kindness that he wanted to reward him. “Ellis, since you’re so passionate about helping others, how about we starting raising money for the local homeless together?” Ellis’s face lit up with excitement. “Really? I’d love that!” So the two began to organize a charity event, with Busbice’s efforts and Ellis’s enthusiasm driving it. The event turned out a great success, raising more than enough funds. But more importantly, it strengthened the bond between Ellis and Busbice. They had started as strangers, connected by a simple act of kindness, and now were partners in making a difference. 3. 词汇激活 行为类 ①开始聊天:start chatting/engage in conversation ②形成:emerge/form ③加强:strengthen/enhance 情绪类 ①热情的:passionate/enthusiastic ②兴奋:excitement/thrill 【点睛】[高分句型1] Eventually, Ellis learned that the man he had mistaken for homeless was a millionaire and had appeared on reality television.(运用了that引导的宾语从句,man后运用了省略关系代词that/who/whom的定语从句) [高分句型2] The event turned out a great success, raising more than enough funds.(运用了现在分词短语作状语) 听力:1—5 ABACB 6—10 ABCAA 11—15 CBCAC 16—20BCBCB 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
