【存在问题】对于不同绘画风格的历史创作背景、作者等了解不够深入,缺少一定的背景知识。
【解决措施】①提供适量的关于西方绘画艺术的视频、图片等辅助学生了解西方绘画艺术。②课堂中小组合作,使学生完善输出内容。

本节课的教学重点是引导学生梳理和归纳西方绘画艺术在不同时期的风格特点,探讨其发展变化的历程;激发学生对西方绘画艺术的兴趣,引导学生基于所学谈论和鉴赏西方绘画艺术作品。

1. T asks Ss to look at the opening page and discuss the following questions:
Q1. What do you know about the painting? Do you know who paint it?
The photo is the fresco painting School of Athens by Raphael(1483-1520).
Q2. What can you see in the painting? Who are these people? What are they doing?
Many ancient Greek people gathering in the hall.They are famous philsophers such as Plato, Aristotle, Socrates and Pythagoras. They are debating or thinking or listening to others.
Q3. Why did the painter put all these people living at different times together?
Though these people were from different times, they all symbolised human pursuit of widsom and truth.
Q4. Why do you think the painter created this work of art? What idea did the painter want to convey?
To praise the so-called “Golden Age” in history and convey a yearning for a free and open future.
2. T asks Ss to read the famous saying on the opening page and share their understanding of it. And before reading the text, asks Ss to bear the follwoing 2 questions in mind.

Talk about some Western paintings before reading.
T asks Ss to look at the paintings below. Discuss your feelings and try to put the paintings in time order.

3. T asks Ss to retell the history or development of Western paintings with the chart above. After that, T invites some of the Ss to retell before the whole class without any reference.

During the Middle Ages, the purpose of Western art was to teach people about Christianity.
