教材分析
教材的位置和作用:本节课时新目标英语八年级下册第四单元的跨文化阅读课. 是本单元话 题的延伸 . 通过对Section A 的学习。使同学明白了在学校和家庭中遇到的麻烦和问题。学会了应用基本句型如:I think you should /could及文化样 Why don't you ...为他人提出相应的建议。找到合理的解决方法。本节课。学生将在老师的指导下阅读文章,学习在语境中推测词义。并采纳对比 分析 归纳争论等方法。培养阅读技巧。提高阅读才能。阅读后的口头和书面表达训练起到对本单元学问起到学以致用的作用。实践在“在用中学在学中用的教学理念
学情分析
在学问储备上,初二同学已有了 1000 词左右的词汇量。已学过各种在校活动的英语表达方式以及一般现在时一般讲来时现在进行时和一般过去时的语法结构。有了就同学生活问题进行简洁表达的语言能力,从同学的心理特点来说。他们已具备了对事物的初步对比分析推理和判定才能。结合新目标英语教材设计的特点和经常用的教学策略。本节课设定同学在老师的主导下,实行任务型学习策略。依次进行任务链涉及的各种活动。最终完成本节课的学问 才能和情感
三维目标。
教学目标
1. Extract some details by using proper reading strategies.
2. Learn how to guess the meaning of a word from the context.
3. Deal with the pressure correctly and understand parents better.
教学重点:
1. 通过运用阅读策略阅读文本,获取信息,多维度理解语篇。
2. 在语境中感知和体会词汇含义,根据上下文猜测生词的含义。
3. 就中美家庭共同存在的问题,阐述文种不同人的观点和看法并提炼自己的观点和建议。
4. 学会换位思考,理解父母,辩证的看待参加课后辅导班和课外活动,并学会自己减压。
5. 对语篇进行深度挖掘,思考作者的写作意图。
教学难点
学生能比较不同的观点,同时结合自己的生活经验理性表达对参加课外培训的观点和看法.
教学步骤

Step 3.While-reading
1 Fast reading
1 Skim the article and answer the questions.
(1) What is the common problem for many students these days?
(2) Who gives their opinions about the problem?
Ask students to look through the passage and answer the question .just find names according to names.
2. Skim the passage and match the main idea of each paragraph.
Paragraph 1 Life for Cathy Taylor's three children is very busy.
Paragraph 2 Doctors say too much pressure is not good for a child's development.
Paragraph 3 Children are busier on weekends than weekdays these days.
Paragraph 4 Linda Miller knows all about such stress.
Ask students read the passage quickly and get the answer .tell students the sentence of the paragraph is important.
Step 4.Careful reading (work--in pairs)
1 Read para1 and answer the questions
(1) What’s the purpose of the students learning exam skills?
They can get into a good high school and later a good university.

Others are practicing sports.
2 Read para2and fill in the blacks Let students practice the scanning skills in order to get right
answer .Read and answer the question about Cathy Taylor :
What’s Cathy’s opinion about after-school activities? She believes these activities are important for their children .
3. Read para3 and fill in the blanks
Ask students read para.3carefully and find out what’s Linda’s opinions. Linda thinks parents
should let their kids be kids
4. Read para4 and answer
(1) Does Dr. Alice Green agree with Cathy or Linda?
(2) What does she say?
Lead students find out Alice’s opinion It’s important to have happy children than successful
children
Step 5.
Read the passage again and judge T or F
1. Chinese children have to take so many after-school classes on weekends these days.
2. Cathy Taylor really wants her three children to be successful, so she believes these after-school activities are important for them.
3. Linda Miller thinks parents should send their small kids to all kinds of classes.
4. Linda thinks some parents push their kids too much.
5. Alice thinks kids shouldn’t have time to relax and think for
themselves.
Ask students to finish them and then correct them
Step6.After reading.
Look at the words in bold in the article. Try to match them with the meanings below.
Step7 Retell the passage according to the mind map
Retell each paragraph together. let students retell each paragraph by filling in the blanks on the paper.
Retell the whole passage according to the chart on the screen without looking at their papers .
Step8 Group work:
What do you think of after school classes?
Work in group of four .Discuss the opinions about after-school activities. each group choose a
student to give a report.
Step 9 Lead students to give advice about how to relax. Show some pictures to help students speak out their ideas.
Step10 Homework

Retell the article according to the mind map.
Level 2
Write a short passage ,share your classmates’ opinions on after-school activities and their ways to relax.
Purpose:
1 To consolidate what we have learned and get more information through network resources.
2 Divide homework into two parts according to different levels of students.

本节课的教学活动层层递进,贴近生活实际.具有很强的实践性.在本节课的教学设计中,我从学生们生活中的真实问题出发,大部分学生能很快的进入阅读环境.在阅读过程中
每一项任务的进行都体现着学生的主体地位.符合当前新课程标准的要求.更好的提高课堂效率.在阅读过程中,适时教会学生一定的阅读技巧,让学生懂得如何去读,更好的帮助学生
提高英语阅读能力.
本节课的不足之处:由于学生的基础不同,参与度不均衡.部分学生不能积极举手参与活动.
