九年级英语英语角活动： Music Appreciation教学设计 Teaching objectives: By the end of the class, students can 1. list different kinds of music and describe the features of them. 2. express their feelings after listening to music. 3. express their personal music preferences by using attributive clauses. Type of lesson: Interest lesson ( English corner ) Teaching important and difficult points: 1. To describe features of different kinds of music. 2. To get to know types of modern music types in western countries. Teaching methods: Audio and visual teaching method, communicative teaching method, task-based teaching method. Teaching procedure: Step 1: Warming up and appreciating music The teacher plays two videos 云宫迅音 and 枉凝眉for students to watch and asks them to think about some questions to get to know the music from TV series Journey to the West and A dream in Red Mansions. Students are expected to think about the following questions while watching the videos. 1.What’s the name of this piece of music? 2.How do you feel when you listen to it? 3.Who created(创作) it? 4.What kind of music is it? Step 2: Dig in: Talking about music preferences with attributive clauses First, the teacher shows students some example sentences to talk about music preferences with attributive clauses. eg: I love the song. It is sad but beautiful. I love music that is sad but beautiful. I love the song. It has great lyrics. I love the song that/which has great lyrics. Teach students how to combine 2 simple sentences into a compound sentence with attributive clause. Then, let students Ask and answer in pairs to talk about their music preferences. Summary: When we talk about our favorite music, we can talk about it from the following aspects: name, feature, feeling, function, singer and so on. Step 3: Get to know types of modern music in western countries. Step 4: Music recommendation Not only Chinese music but also western music is wonderful. After class, learn to sing the smooth English songs and next time we will sing them together.
