三.阅读理解
I found it hard to communicate with my mother. Relations between us became difficult.
One day I ran away from home and stayed outside for a few hours. When I returned home at night, I saw all the pain, anger and disappointment on my mother’s face.We knew that we were in great need of talk. We agreed to have breakfast together the next morning. In the end, we decided to go to a restaurant.
On our way to the restaurant I noticed my mother had two notebooks. I asked her what they were used for. She explained to me that sometimes it was easier to write down our feelings than talking about them. We should write down our feelings.
Our first topic was “Why am I so angry? ” I wrote a half page, and my mom filled up nearly three pages. I saw the tears run down her face while she was writing. I never realized anyone could hide so much anger. After we finished writing, we exchanged our notebooks. As soon as I started reading my mother’s words. I began to cry and so did she. When we finished reading, we discussed our feelings. Finally, it felt like all the anger inside me went away from my body. Our talk helped me realize so many things I had never thought of before, not only about my mother but also about other people.
My mother and I continue using our notebooks as a way of communicating. We know that no matter how we feel about each other, our notebooks are a safe place to express our feelings. We have come to an agreement that we write “I love you” at the end of each letter.

四.任务型阅读:
“The grass looks greener on the other side of the fence.” That’s an old saying in English .It means that other places often look better and more interesting than the place where you live. Some people worry that young Chinese are beginning to feel that way. They see young Chinese ignoring(忽视)Chinese culture and instead , buying Japanese cartoon books, watching Korean soap operas and even celebrating western holidays.
Foreign books and soap operas are good, but Chinese writers and actors are just as good as foreigners. As for holidays, Christmas is nice , but it can never have the meaning for Chinese that Spring Festival has, and the West has nothing to compare with Mid-Autumn Festival. And let’s remember the part of Chinese culture I like best: its friendliness. Not all countries are as warm as China.
It’s good to enjoy other cultures and to learn from them, but they can never replace(代替)your own culture. It’s good to look on the other side of the fence, but make sure you take a good long look. You will find that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence.
1. What do young Chinese do while they are ignoring Chinese culture?(不超过15个词)
2. What does the writer think of Chinese writers and actors ?(不超过10个词)
3. What does the old saying “The grass looks greener on the other side of the fence.” mean?(不超过20个词)
